Caught that too. Apparently there wasn't much editing oversight on these films. That wouldn't happen today - nor would someone use the name of a great American songbook singer.
@@stevensmith7439 No highlight of the Bills @ Jets game. O.J. Simpson ran for 2003 yards to cap the season. Also the last game for legendary coach Weeb Ewbank who retired at the end of the 1973 season. He won three world titles, coached Johnny Unitas, and Joe Namath in which they are Pro Football Hall of Fame members.
Both the Bears and Giants imploded in 1973, and it looked like they were just going through the motions out there, in this clip. Patriots would start strongly in '74, but injuries, combined with increasingly tough opposition in the second half of the schedule, had them fading. Other teams fading out: Cleveland and San Francisco.

O.J. Simpson in week 14 rushed for 2003 yards which he beat Hall of Fame legend Jimmy Brown's 1863 yard record of the 1963 season. Pat Summerall mentioned Hoagy Carmichael of the Philadelphia Eagles. It was Harold not Hoagy, Hoagy was a songwriter who did Stardust.
Lol wow Pat mustve been drinking some Egg Nog in the recording booth. Hoagy Carmichael? I couldn't believe my ears at first. I thought maybe it was a nickname I never knew about.
This is so much fun to watch. I am barely old enough to remember this weekend, and this TWIPF Thank you for this.
Snow along the Eastern Seaboard from Washington to New Haven
At 2:50 Pat Summerall said Hoagie Carmichael instead of Harold Carmichael LOL. Hoagy Carmichael was a band leader. How did they not catch that?
I believe it was deliberate and calling Carmichael Hoagy in Philly makes sense.
he was drunk....as usual

2:47 *_"Hoagie" Carmichael???_* ... *_Summerall faux pas or intentional error???_* 🤔
to watch these films .........brings back some terrific memories ..........
Great blocking. Something you don't see in the NFL today.
Odd to see the goal posts on the goal line, I think this is last year they were there.
1973 was the final season of the goalposts being near the goal line.
Hogey Carmichael was an actor. #17 "Harold" Carmicael, played WR, for Philly. 😁
He should be HOFer Harold Carmichael!

@@jdsoultrn In case you missed it Harold Carmichael no 17 is now a Hall of Famer
Missing clips of Lions-Dolphins and Raiders-Broncos from that weekend.
The video cuts to Vikings season highlights, then comes back to TWIPF. That's most likely why.
Also no Bills-Jets, which I assume would have gone at the end (it was the OJ breaks 2000 yds game)

@Matt Pizzano Dick Butkus also retired after 73'

look at the empty seats at aarowhead
I liked the Cowboys old dark blue jerseys without stars on shoulders and the dark gray pants.
Cowboys Cardinals last game is the first game Drew Pearson was really making his presence felt

It was his nickname,Brookshire always called him that
Did you ever see the two of them in a room together? Maybe Pat let slip a secret no one was supposed to know. And where is Pat now? Exactly.
It would be the last game for the Eagles wearing white helmets
Cowboys, no problem with the Cardinals in the last game
That is to be expected when QB Gary Keithley makes his 2nd and last start of his NFL career
Why the fuck did you cut out the commentary from Summerall and Brookshier? And where is Detroit-Miami and Buffalo-Jets?
Detroit-Miami was a Saturday game. Buffalo-NY Jets was of course, OJ's 2000 yard game
