- Jude is back to give his thoughts on Johnathan Givony's post-lottery mock draft and his selections for the Spurs! 🏀🎙️
(Sorry for mispronouncing Givony wrong throughout the video - I've thought for years there was another o in his name but there is not. Apologies y'all 😂)

I honestly didn't expect us to land the Raptors pick
Yea, I'd kind of written it off until next year. What a nice surprise.
@@colin1818 Next year we for sure wouldn't get it. Toronto is an awful roster right now, they can very likely finish bottom 6 next year
@@blablablaa14 - It's a valid concern. I'm definitely glad it worked out the way it did.
Bro look at teams behind spurs
5) pistons aren’t gonna take another guard
6) hornets prob won’t take guard either
7) blazers certainly aren’t going to take another guard
Why in the hell woudnt you get a wing which spurs desperately need help with when spurs can just get rob at 8
Great point but trades are a thing to be worried about
@@KillToSurvive35 yeah and it all makes sense in my head but then the wiz take him at number 2 or rockets really like him. This draft is so open who knows
I think the Spurs will go for a forward with there 4th and a pg in the 8th as forwards are more important then pg
Spurs NEED a pg tho
@@Kilokhi yes they need but do you see a prospect better than Jones here?
@@lecoolpotager6670 scoring wise and playmaking wise yes rob and castle
Nah bro Risacher will drop to 4 and Dilly to 8
I hope this happen
best case scenario
I would not mind that at all! - Jude
I really don’t want Dillingham. I’d prefer for us to go with Buzelis or Nikola with their 4th round pick. Reed Shepard or Castle would be good if available at 8. I do hope that we go after Big Z with a later round pick to replace Zach Collins.
These picks would guarantee the Spurs would stay near, or at, the bottom of the league in Defense. Getting old watching every commentator focus on Offense. The Spurs biggest issue was Defense. They had none. This makes it even worse.
You don't win playoff games without Defense. Repeat...you DON'T win playoff games without Defense. Just look at the defensive rankings of the teams in the playoffs now. 3 of the Top 4 defensive teams are STILL IN THE PLAYOFFS. The other is ranked 11.
The Spurs Defense in the league? #26
Yeah, lets focus on Offense. freakin' middle school analysis.
Basically, these picks would put all the pressure for D on Wemby. SMH
Use the 4th pick on Matas Buzeils
That Atlanta pick opens up options for the spurs and hawks via trade...
Please tell us more.
HAWKS NEED PLAYER TO PAIR WITH JAEN JOHNSON FOR A 2 SUPERSTAR TEAM
@ronaldrenearmstrong9872 that's not doing anything for ATL. They're well aware they're getting bodied even if this 2 superstar duo comes to light.
They might as well blow that cash pit tf up.
It open the option that the Hawks will sell off their best players for nothing and then next year they will be terrible and we get their pick. Otherwise they better give us the first pick along with Trae young so we can get Sarr to cover for Trae
if the demand for alex sarr is reasonable that can be done. hawks want their picks back spurs will not have problems with that demand. but that will probabbly involve jeremy sochan and keldon johnson. I'm not sure if spurs is willing to let go of sochan at this point I suspect he's untouchable this trade deadline.
I was with you both, I like the Dillingham/Knecht combo, but after sleeping on it, I think that you take whatever wing/big you have at the top of your board and chance that Detroit, Charlotte, and Portland don't take a PG since they don't need one. Anyone trying to get up ahead of you, and you beat their price with your 8th and that chest of 2nds.
That's very fair, I'm realizing that 5-7 don't need a PG this year this morning too.
I think Risasher and Dillingham easy to pick!!!
When we clear at 4 & 8 ,
I think it's time to bring Cade to Spur.
It will cost a lot of assets,
but still worth it when we have Wemby.
I like both players but would hate if the Spurs draft both of them. Both of them are bad defenders. Spurs were horrible on defense this year, even with Wemby bringing them to mediocrity on his own, and this would not help(probably makes it worse).
Dillingham plays no defense.
What you have to do a such a case is to list, in the order, the 8 players you want.
Thereby, you know in your list who is the upper choice still available when you pick in four, and then in 8, indepently of the others.
Payton Sanfort is right up there with Shepherd on who’s the best shooters in the draft
Given the crunch for roster space, I wonder if the spurs can package their two 2024 2nd round picks in a potential trade for a defensive minded vet unless they can pick up a true draft steal.
Rob is 6’0. I hate that everyone is so focused on him at 4 . We need a wing
Jude, I appreciate your videos.
But I am not a fan of your picks.
Rob Dillingham is not a true point guard. He is more of a shooting guard. Also, he is a small guy.
I would much rather have Nikola Topic. Better size. I believe the Spurs can improve his shooting.
At #8, I would prefer some one other than Dalton Knecht. At 23, Knecht is a bit old to be a rookie in today’s NBA.
The ideal picks for the Spurs would be Zaccharie Risacher and Topic.
Appreciate the honesty and perspective! I understand where you're coming from on Rob being more of a 2, but I think the situation at Kentucky this year (playing with three other PGs) put a cap on his assist numbers and he still led the team in assist rate. He definitely still has room to grow as a passer, but I believe he can be an elite PnR threat with Wemby long-term. With all that being said, Topic is my No. 2 PG and I would love him on the team also! And yeah, if we could somehow get Risacher at 4 that would be awesome. Ethan and I actually made a video a few weeks ago discussing Risacher and Topic as our dream draft scenario, but after diving into the tape more Rob ended up being my No. 1 PG like I said earlier. Thanks so much for watching and commenting! GSG!
@@SSPN Thanks, I liked your live show after the lottery, as well. Good content and commentary.
I think any decent point guard would be able to work the pick and roll with Wemby. As good as Dillingham is on offense, he is a deficit at the other end of the court.
I believe the Spurs will sign a free agent point guard or trade for a point guard. Perhps an older guy to bridge the transition to Topic, if they get him.
I see the new Spurs Big Three being Wemby, Risacher and Topic. Two Freshmen, a Serb, and the the rest of the gang. 👏👏👏👏👏
Since Sarr's most likely off the table probably going 1-3 in terms of a good defensive bigman I say we go for Clingan at #4 pick then Rob at #8 since the teams going 5-7 dont need a PG and we're all good
cody williams at pick 4 and whoever rob ,topic or reed at 8 or trade it away for a PG if they want
cody williams have elite scoring touch, very likely to be a star in the future.
I'm OK for Rob at #4 (or #8) he's not perfect but he looks like a safe pick, not a raw prospect.
hell no not at 4. what is all this rob talk.
i want topic at 4 then matas, reed or castle at 8
@@mortystraphouse5077 Topic can't shoot and is a turnover machine
Rob >>>> Topic
Topic IS a raw prospect, a gamble...
@@mortystraphouse5077 Topic can't shoot
@@aspleen1102 yup, thats why if spurs somehow pick him at 4, that means the spurs org believe he has that mentality to go past his limitation plus hes 18 years old
Rob is safe at #4 if you are unconcerned about his size.
The draft is such a crapshoot if either pick pans out I'll be happy, which is why having two is so big. I know next year is considered a better draft, but we'll have multiple picks again anyway. I agree Dillingham seems like the best PG prospect, so that makes sense to me.
Btw, Givony isn't pronounced giv-a-noy, is it?
I got this wrong the whole time and realized after. 🤦♂ It's Give-ony not Giv-an-oy idk why I thought it was pronounced like that that's on me. 😂 - Jude
Dillie at 4 is a great pick. We desperately need a PG. Next pick should be focused on defense either a small forward or center. We had the worst defense when wemby was off the floor.
i wish we got the 2 or 3 pick, i wanted that 7 foot 2 center from uconn, he will go in the top 3. he is a great defender
We had Zach Collins on the floor when Wemby wasn't. He is the worst center defender in the league. He's there for the tank and then the Spurs will move away from him
We need a point guard, but Dillingham is not the dude.
@@archangelmusic13 The center from UConn will not go in the top 10.
@@sarahmccoy1941 he will be picked in the top 3.
🙌🔥🔥
I don't see a lot of people trying to understand which personality would fit best with Victor. I see Reed Sherpard getting along a lot more than Rob Dillingham. Victor does not like strass and show off players. Risacher would be great, Topic and of course Sarr would be perfect. I just don't see it with Dillingham, he will overdo it > he is a scoot anderson bis
Why draft a pg at 4 if teams 5-7 don’t need pg’s?????
I did not realize this, so do spurs trade out of #4 or reach on a wing or big man?
Because spurs NEED a pg? Lol what
U get it
for real we should go for clingan for a defensive big at 4 then rob at 8
Because other teams could trade up.
Can Pop transfofm Dillingham into the next Tony Parker?
Either dillingham or topic, kinda prefer topic because of his size
Those are my top two as well, and Topic does have that over Rob!
I think whats likely to happen is that there will be a lot of trades and a lot of wrong players mocked in this year’s draft day.
I have Houston selecting Cligan. They need a Wemby stopper.
Did Sengun not literally do just that this season?
@@WomboCombeedon't count on that being the norm
@@WomboCombee he literally was getting cooked by Wemby accept in that one game when Wemby he had the ankle injury
I see Houston going with Clingan as Adams is in his last year or they take Sheppard
Wemby will only be the one to stop himself.
sheppard is the best available guard at no 4. dayton knecht proabbly available at 8. not the most ideal but not that bad.
6:30 Bam and Giannis.
Very fair answer, luckily their aren't too many defenders in the league like them! 😂 Thanks for watching!
@@SSPN your right tho it’d be unswitchable still cos dame or Tyler herro aren’t switching onto wemby
its spursian but i dont think it is creative enough. pg scorer and corner 3 guy seems very old school. if you go say Reed and Holland (if poss) you have breakneck defense across 3 positions. I would also propose a trade for jon isaac for same reason. absolute killer D would be game over for everyone else for 5 years+
All I'm reading is DillingSPAM
I pray he's not a Spur in 2025.
The games I've watched Topic in full. He's far from a horrible shooter. Idk what type of Spurs fans follow these channels.
But they're ultra casual and heavy on regurgitating comments that others have typed in regards to lack of shooting ability.
Miss me with the BS. Topic is a steal if we land him over Dillingham.
The Spurs seem to cover height to pair with Wemby. I just see them going for Topic height, playmaking, and potential over Dillingham shooting, potential, and playmaking. And at 8 no offense to Knecht, but the Spurs have seemingly ignored pure shooters in the first round religiously. I wouldn't hate the pick as he would play a needed role, but I hope one of the GLEAGUE guys or Williams would be picked first. But there is another foreign guy slowly moving up some draft boards and that is Tidjane Salaun and it would definitely be a Spurs type move to go with a foreign wing way before he is supposedly going to be mocked
I wouldn't see them take a PG at number 4. So Topic at 8 isn't a bad value, the problem is that he could be Josh Giddey 2.0. I kinda love us taking Salaun at 8 though. Bring him and Risacher and the defense at the very least improves and there is a ton of length. Imagine a squad getting minutes of Wesley, Wemby, Risacher, Salaun and Devin to lock down teams with length like the Wolves. Also Wemby will hold his fellow french players honest so I trust they will improve
@@imatroll8392 We can get both....
Tidjane Salaun is definitely a potential overlooked gem this year! Topic is my No. 2 PG, so I can see your train of thought there as well. It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out!
Spurs should pick Zaccharie Risacher with their fist pick then Zack Edu with their next. Then TRADE 2025 1st Rd pick, both 2024 2nd rd picks and a couple of young developing expendable players for Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso.
Then sign free agents Isiah Hartinstien and Bol Bol and possibly Nick Batum.
That team COULD easily become an ELITE defensive team with depth and inside/outside balance and passing. Just think about it.
Dillingham is SMALL and not a defender.
we didnt address the defense in those players 🥲
Dillingham and Knecht definitely make us worse defensively.
Yeah I can’t with people saying oh this and that dudes’ defense is trash but you got wemby. we need good perimeter d
With all the draft capital the Spurs have and tradable players, plus this years #4 and #8 picks many trade scenarios can happen between now and June 26. Perhaps the Hawks want to take back those two UNPROTECTED PICKS the Spurs have for this year's #1?
Please stop with the non shooting Nikola Topic crush. Spurs need a big time passer and scorer like Dillingham.
topic way better prospect than dilli
@@mortystraphouse5077 he most definitely has to pass the ball because he can't shoot the ball just like the great Ben Simmons. Meanwhile back at the ranch............ Dillingham, Vassell and Wemby would be a big 3 scoring machine that the spurs need. Spurs already have decent role players we need players who can get a bucket off of a broken play.
Dillingham is not a great passer.
@@gabrielcarrasco9078 Dillingham's passing has impressed me more than Topic. Topic is a drive and kick merchant that thrives off of the insane amount of space his teammates can produce. I don't believe the Spurs have the personnel to give Topic the level of space he needs.
@@gabrielcarrasco9078 Dillingham is most definitely a great passer. Have you checked out his assist to turnover ratio?
Men lie women lie but those numbers don't lie. Exciting passer who is a dynamic shooter/scorer.
Too early to say Wemby is one of one…he does have a brother.
It’s crazy that everybody says it’s a bad draft class because no superstar but wow the global level is so high.
I would love #4 Risacher and 8# Rob knowing that Detroit, Charlotte and Portland don’t need a PG
Wonder if the Spurs should just go to Portland and trade their 4th pick for their 7th and 14th pick. If Risacher is gone by 4th it might actually be better to trade down.
Rob Dillingham is the best player in this draft.. I'm calling it now, Dillingham is gonna be a NBA Super Star 🌟
He is lou williams at best
Dillingham looks too unbalanced in his shot which concerns me. I'm leaning towards Topic
We need players that will help Wemby with defense instead of adding more defensive workload on him. I hope we get Reed Sheppard instead of Rob Dillingham.
pg should be drafted at 8 detroit, charlotte and portland don't need guards.
I understand you like Dillingham and Knecht. I love those guys too. Everyone likes scorers. In high school, every girl loved the QB of the team. Everyone falls into that trap. But everyone quickly forgets the talent it takes to surround your stars with quality key players. Not to take anything away from those two, like I said I want them on our team too. But we need a big. Collins is not the answer. We are getting manhandled inside with zero help. With the second pick or number 8th pick. I would like to take a big in Donovan Clingan. Reports are that's where he will fall. If the Spurs are on the board and he available, I would strongly advise the Spurs to grab him up. That would be the steal of the draft at number 8. Dillingham/Topic/etc, will all be available at number 4. We will never get another opportunity to get a quality big. With a 7'4" Wemby and 7'3" Clingan, we should be able to challenge any number of teams in the West. If that the case, then Sheppard will be the most logical pick at 4. He will spread the court for the 2 bigs inside. No way to stop the Spurs after that.
Ethan and I talked about this in our Donovan Clingan prospect breakdown recently and essentially covered what you just said about his appeal for our roster. I'll definitely have to think on potentially him at 4 with the teams at 5-7 probably not picking PGs
I prefer Nikola in the 4th
Hell no to another guard in Knecht!!
I hope we find a way to get rid of Keldon, that guy chance has come and gone, he's not good enough
i dont really like taking dalton knecht at 8... derrick white has good deffense.. and he got pick at 29 so even it doesnt work out, it doesnt matter, im not gonna risk a top 10 pick for a guy like dalton knecht, except the spurs gonna trade down + why would we have 2 bad deffender in the starting line up and expecting victor to handle it all... lets not give victor that burden, 1 bad deffender on the starting 5 is more than enough
Thank you, agree with you 💯! Plus another 6”5 - 6”6 guard, Wemby can’t be the only defender and rebounder out there!
#4 Dalton Knecht… #8……?
I think what you are going to see is a lot trading in the this 2 days of the draft! There is a lot of teams who are pick deficient for the foreseeable future and need to start acquiring picks starting now!
Also you have teams that are going to want to trade down to acquire more picks in this draft!
I see a lot of movement and I think you will not see the top 4 the same after the draft! Just saying and I will come back to this statement after the draft!
Good analysis. 👍🏼 this is very likely to happen.
who would want to acquire more picks in this years draft? this year is a very weak draft, next year is the draft that will be loaded.
@@archangelmusic13 teams that have depth issues! That’s what would want to make more picks! Especially ready to come in and produce 4 year college players!
@@tonyhill6220 not for this years draft, its very weak. getting more picks for this draft instead of a top pick won't help., it will hurt., hopefully that uconn center will still be there for the spirs 4th pick, but i doubt it, i think houston will take him since they need a good defensive big man.
@@archangelmusic13 I will respectfully disagree on a lot of teams that are contenders will be looking at 4 year college players because that will be the new gold mine. Teams that have horrible depth will be in trade down mode to acquire more picks. You all keep looking at 1 and done kids are not understanding that teams are starting to see those kids that stayed 4 years who develop their game are solid pieces to build depth with. This draft is not top star talent but a ton of opportunities to build depth with because I think a lot of the 4 year players will likely still be in the league a few years from now! I will come back to this statement after the draft to eat my words if it isn’t true but I have a feeling that I will be right!
