Most people don’t know where Sunday rest/worship comes from. I say this in respect and for informational purposes, not to offend. God rested on the seventh day, not the first day. The first day known as Sunday is a pagan day dedicated to the worship of the sun god. In 321 a.d. Constantine made it a law that Sunday would be the common day for rest and worship in order to unite Christians and Pagans. Jesus and His disciples kept Saturday. The Catholic Church claims Sunday as her ecclesiastical authority because Protestants keep the Sabbath of the RCC’s invention and not the true Sabbath of the Bible. God wrote it in stone symbolizing it’s unchangeableness and Jesus, in the New Testament said to, “pray that your flight be neither in the winter nor on the Sabbath day.” He never changed it because God’s law is unchangeable. If it could be changed He wouldn’t have had to die to pay the penalty for us transgressing them. Forced Sunday rest is on the horizon and God never forces. Climate Sunday will eventually morph into a universal mandatory day of rest.
I am Southern Baptist from Alabama and we had piano and organ growing up but I was very surprised to know one of the songs that you were singing the first one. I haven't heard it in so long but I sang right along because until I was 20 and met my now ex-husband unfortunately I'm 41 now but I started going to his parents church which had the big giant screens and a huge choir and a full band and I did not ever get used to the production I mean sound stage people up in the loft and three or 400 people at two different services every Sunday. I was used to a small country church where when a visitor walked in they were welcomed and they had people that automatically would just get up and catch them at the door and make them feel welcome and wanted. At their church I was trying to find out where his family sat and I asked the people that were welcoming at the front and giving out the church schedule for that morning and not one person that I asked even knew who his family was and his dad played the drums and the orchestra. His parents did children's choir and nobody could tell me who they were. That was an eye-opening experience and I am trying now that I'm divorced to find that small country church atmosphere. Baptist we are very modest on Sundays growing up but it is church it looked like some of the girls were coming in from the club on Saturday night coming straight to church on Sunday morning. It made me blush. My son is 14 but thank goodness he's not a girl because number one I'm 6 ft 1 so she would be massive and number 2 I don't have to worry about modesty. Boys are just so much easier. I love your videos! I do not think that there's very many things different in a southern Baptist religion than Mormons they're obvious differences but I feel like I could walk into one and feel comfortable. Anyway love the video God bless you and your family and that sweet baby. Can't wait to see he or she when they arrive.
I do something similar on Shabbat for meals. Every other day is cutting and cooking vegetables and cheese or meat, which takes me an hour or more per meal. Shabbat is simple meals I can either cook in the microwave or eat without any cooking. It helps to set shabbat apart from the rest of the week. P.S., I really enjoyed the singing; very nice. I used to sing more; and, I really miss that sometimes! I need to get back to that. Thank you for sharing.
@@melpu310 That's nonsense. We have writings of the Early Church from the early 2nd Century (Look up Tertuillian and Justin Martyr) that clearly describes Sunday worship and makes reference to the fact that the Sabbath worship is on the Sunday, the day of Christ's resurrection.
I love your videos! I am an Orthodox Jewish woman. We have our Sabbath on Saturday. To us the Sabbath is a day of rest. We go to Synagogue, have a festive lunch, and we rest. We don't do any work. We also don't cook on our Sabbath, everything is prepared beforehand. I look forward to our Sabbath all week. We are all busy working and caring for families, our Sabbath is truly a blessed day of rest. I feel recharged after the Sabbath.
I'm a Christian Seventh-day Adventist and we keep Saturday holy instead of Sunday like you. It was the original day of rest kept by both Jews and Christians until Constantine changed it (for christians) to Sunday worship in the 4th century. For us we rest and worship and fellowship on the seventh day sabbath and don't work either. It's a blessing. Some other Christian denominations keep Sabbath as well, for example seventh day Baptists.
Molly Serkin. This is what I love about a day dedicated to our Faith. I am a Catholic, and our special day is also about spending time to Worship but it’s also about family and just being together (so many people forget to have special family time…time to reset the heart and head I think). During Covid lockdown in the UK our churches were closed so I REALLY missed that feeling of sharing Faith, but we still got together with family where possible (even for face time calls). It was a difficult time for everyone. Keep the Faith and love your family.
Hi Megan, I’d love to know where I can get a copy of your Bible. I am fascinated by other peoples Faiths and try to read up as much as I can. I was raised a Catholic but lapsed for a while in my teens….but when I met and married my husband and our children came along, my Faith came back and my children learned about our Faith. I LOVE that there are so many different beliefs in the world and I am amazed at some of the similarities many of them, the focus is always on family and togetherness…which I love. I think that no matter what your Faith is, we should strive to learn more. God Bless.
That brought back soooo many memories….. I was a foster child in a Mennonite home and if it hadn’t been for their family, I would not be the person I am today !! I knew nothing about God or the Bible when I was placed with them so although they have passed on now , I know that I am forever indebted to them for teaching me so many IMPORTANT things. I would give anything to go back and wish I had been adopted by them but God had other plans 😊😊 I loved Sundays in their home, the food, the fellowship at church, the Sundays when we had church family over for a large meal and yes….even the quiet time ❤️
Hello! I am a Christian, African American, Mother of 2 females (I'm actually an older mother-getting close to 50:-). I currently also reside in PA - the NE area. I think you are so special and inspirational and God is truly using you in His own way. You came up in my feed (I watch some other Christian families and you kept popping up here and there). I had heard of the name Megan Fox before but I did not know how the person with the name, the actress, looked. I was a little confused and thought maybe the actress became a Christian or she is different or something - based on the pictures and I think you were cooking something in the first video I saw, lol, so I clicked. However, while I eventually realized you were not the actress, smile, I did realize that I had just met someone even better, a nice, sweet and still super cool Christian Mennonite woman! God is awesome and sometimes comical how He can draw us to others. I have loved the videos I have seen thus far and also your diverse music - I listen to all types of Christian music pop, country, jazz, gospel, etc... so I appreciate your diversity of sound in your background music it is either calm, relaxing, tranquil or just fun - good taste. Thanks for great, clean content. God bless you and love you with the love of Christ.
I thought the same thing at first. I was hoping that she had become a Christian. It would be wonderful if she did. I'm so happy when they are actually able to escape hollywood. I love this, too, though.😊
This was so educational and you’re such a kind soul. The way you explain everything without being judgemental or condescending. Such a beautiful women with a beautiful family. Happy sabbath!!
When you played the clips of your congregation singing, I burst into tears. What a beautiful, peaceful, joyful sound. (Also, as a choral singer/teacher I was so impressed by how talented you all are! Absolutely beautiful harmonies and tone. 💛)
“Whatever rest means to you…” - So beautifully put! Thank you for this video! I love the sunflower pictures. I find myself wishing I could make my life look a little bit more like yours.
Our kids are in worship with us, and I like it that way! Yes, it is challenging, but I feel like it is a huge privilege to walk along side our children as they get to know the Lord.
Megan, thanks for sharing a bit of your Mennonite church service - I thought the singing was lovely! I'm Baptist but grew up with the same philosophy of not doing any unnecessary work on Sunday and letting it be a day of rest. Your Sunday looks similar to some of the things my parents and I did - taking drives, getting together with friends, etc.
Not sure how your channel showed up on my feed but so thankful it did. I'm not Mennonite but cherish Sundays as a day to reset, rest, enjoy company of others or a day to spend culturally be it a museum, a play, listening to an orchestra etc. I grew up with a family lunch on Sundays and leftover suppers ♥ they were the best!
When your daughter licked the paint brush instead of her sucker, that brief clip made my day 😂😂 thank you for sharing this video, I live close to a lot of Amish communities but have often wondered what a DITL looks like for a Mennonite! I have found myself, as a non-denominational Christian, looking for something more from "my culture," and I think what I'm truly looking for is that intentional lifestyle and true rest. So much of my day to day life is still very much ingrained in the American culture. So it was fun being inspired from your video. 😊
I came across your channel this Sunday Morning. I was born and raised in Ephrata and enjoyed seeing the country side of Akron and Lititz. I moved away from home on my own at 17 and now I am 80, married for 55 years in May. Thank your for sharing you lovely family and your Sunday day of worship and rest. Love from Gresham Oregon.
I loved the singing! Would love to hear when more people are there! My husband is a pastor, so Sunday is kind of a "work day" for us in a lot of ways, so we take Fridays off. They fill up sometimes when people have needs, but we are able to enjoy many of them just to rest and do things we want to do together or individually. And today is Friday, so you can see one of the things I enjoy doing and find relaxing and refreshing is watching your videos! ❤️
In Germany all stores are closed on Sundays and holidays so you don’t even have the possibility to spend money even if you want to 😅 of you need something you have to buy it at a gas station for a lot of money
My mom didn’t cook big meals on Sunday ever when I was a kid. We always ate lunch out after church and then dinner was always leftovers, soup, or make your own sandwiches. (The most she did was pour soup in a pot or put lunch meat and sandwich toppings out on a platter.) I guess since she was a special education teacher, she really did take Sunday as a day of rest to prepare herself for an often challenging work week. And we all turned out fine. I never missed having a huge Sunday meal. Plus getting our own food together promoted independence.
Hot ham and rolls, some chips, baked beans, tater salad or coleslaw and pickles. Some kind of dessert, which I got to help with as soon as I could. That was the supper on our day of rest and reflection. No cooking for Mom on that day. Really good flashbacks/memories. TY all so much for these. {hugz} TC!
I went to my first Mennonite church a few weeks ago and it was a wonderful experience, if you are thinking about going, you should just go. I enjoyed the bible study before church the most and yes the singing was surprising very good!!! 💕❤️
@@catherinemuhuri9488 Jewish ppl are not Black. If Jesus WAS black skinned, HE STILL IS, Sister, lol But I repeat, He was born Jewish. "He came unto His own..." Israelites
Your Sundays seem relaxing. I love it. My husband and I get up and go to church. Then we have a simple lunch (usually leftovers). My husband does services at a nursing home in the afternoons so I go with him when I can (the last few weeks I haven't been able to come because of covid restrictions). If I can't go with him, I try to have some relaxing time to work on fun projects. He stays for a while and reads and prays with the patients. Once he gets home, we have dinner and go to a summer concert at a local church.
I found this really interesting! Thank you for sharing! My grandmother was Mennonite, but I was raised Southern Baptist, so it’s interesting to see the similarities and differences. 💜
I have started wearing skirts and dresses just about every day and I love it. I wear mainly shorter maxi dresses. I don't like them around my feet. There is nothing like dresses/skirts to make a woman feel more feminine. Well, they do me. Thank you for a look into your Sabbath. I've always prepared our dinner on Saturdays, so I don't have to cook. We go to Sunday school, then worship service, go home eat, then read, tv, movies, go visiting friends, whatever is restful, until evening services.
Love this. We always grew up going to church service as a family and Sunday school was at a different time. You can’t beat sitting together as a family ❤️
I loved the singing - so beautiful! Our church has gotten away from singing hymns as much anymore and I miss that so much. Thank you for giving us another peek into your life. ❤️
My husband and I are Apostolic Christian and it’s so refreshing to see and hear worship like our church denomination as well as similarities in lifestyle. Love your videos and the inspiration you give. I’m due with out first child in November also and love your maternity outfits! They help so much :)
I loved seeing your Sunday, your family time, church time and rest time. My work includes church on a Sunday morning, so that's pretty full on for me, but boy do I enjoy my Sunday afternoons. After seeing my parents (in their 80's) the afternoon is for putting my feet up, some quiet music, some bible reading, a book or crossword. Love them, and as you said, it sets me up for my week.
I used to have those days when my children were young. They are in their early 20’s so life changes. I love that church songs are sung a cappella in your church. That makes for beautiful harmonizing!!
Thank you for sharing. I'm with you on the families sitting together. We also sing, "Heavenly Sunlight" in our Baptist church, straight out of a hymnal! A funny meme I read once said, "Whoever coined the phrase, 'Easy like Sunday morning,' apparently never dealt with getting small children ready for church." Oh, and my two year old grandson drives his little car all over my husband and me. My four year old grand daughter does lots of art both during Sunday school and during the church service.
We tend to keep our weekends full of family activities but they always feel pretty busy! Thank you for this, would love to structure my time more like this❤️
First time watcher! Great video! I am in Georgia, and a children’s ministry director. Our families Sunday looks so similar to yours. My favorite part was the children sitting in the service! We do that too. So important. We made the change after reading “Parenting in the Pew” I highly recommend. Blessings on you and your growing family!
I grew up in upstate, ny. In a baptist church (my grandfather was a Baptist preacher) but was also surrounded in town and outside with Mennonites, and Amish being a part of our wonderful community. Such beautiful, wonderful, hard working people and great cooks too. Lol. Thank you for sharing this, reminded me of home.
Last year, I returned to a weekly service. I am retired, my husband is disabled and finds it difficult to manuver church, so I go by myself. ( My husband loves the Lord, always has and in healthier times was very involved, but physical limitations now, so our Sermon is emailed to him). Anyway....lol I made a rule at home that Sundays were no longer a work day. We have returned to a slower Sunday lifestyle and I make Sunday Supper more special than other meals during the week.
Thursdays have become a day I look forward to because of your videos. I’m thankful for your uplifting content. I love that it feels like a good chat with a great friend! I’m always encouraged and inspired. I’ve been praying about what our Sunday/Sabbath should look like and this has given me some ideas and inspo. Thank you for sharing what your Sundays look like! Blessings to you and your sweet family. 💕
Our storm here in Northern Michigan was HORRIBLE, no power 3days! Thank goodness for our very noisy little generator! We are upgrading it ASAP! Love your Sunday! We try to rest in between going to our Mom in Hospice. Days of being exhausted take a toll! We love watching your sweet family!
I am LDS and we have a fairly similar Sunday to yours. We do try to avoid spending money on Sundays as part of keeping the sabbath day holy. Everyone deserves to have their day of rest, even though society wants to be open 24/7 nowadays. Also I agree about having kids be a part of the service. All families are together for our first hour (it's called the sacrament but it's like other church's service hour) and the second hour is Sunday school where we divide off into our classes.
I love that the kids are with you in "big church" for the "main" message and teaching time. Though there is no "Christian Sabbath" in the New Testament, it is a celebration of the first day of the week when Christ rose from the dead. It's a day when we don't have to do traditional "work," but are blessed to be able to spend the day in worship, fellowship, and glorifying God without hindrance of everyday toil.
thank you for this video. In my quiet time this morning I was moved by the phrase "keep the Sabbath Holy" I always attend church. But you have inspired me to keep it restful and restorative. And you are right that means something different to everyone.Thank you for good ideas!
Your "wasting time" == the time you take to nourish your soul. We can't be everything for others, or always productive in a direct way. I'm glad to see you have found time to rest. I'm working on finding the balance, as I work part-time and attend uni full-time
I am Mennonite and love Sundays as well! It is a day of rest for us as well. After we attend church service, we have a smaller meal, maybe a nap, and I take me time as well! Sometimes we have visitors or go visiting. I grew up with a big Sunday lunch as well!...but then we had a simple supper called "Faspa". It consisted of buns, cheese, jam and meat. Great to see your Sunday!
At Wilkes Barre Mennonite we have service at 10 AM, Bible school at 11 AM, and then lunch in the church basement. I especially enjoy socializing with the men after eating. Always lively conversation and Pastor is always with us to add his knowledge and wisdom…
Wow, I just copied down the name of your church. We sometimes visit Hawley and Tipton Pa and we are always looking for a church to go to. Now, I have a name for a Mennonite church and I use a Garmin in the car. I am sure I will be able to find it.
@@karenmartin9743 hello Karen, you and yours are ALWAYS WELCOME at Wilkes Barre Mennonite. If you’re in the area we look forward to worshipping and socializing with you! Welcome to Wilkes-Barre Mennonite Church 223 Blackman St. Wilkes-Barre, Pa 18702 Sunday morning services are held every week. Service starts at 10:00. Sunday school starts at 11:00. Everyone is welcome. Please feel free to stay for the fellowship meal at 12:00.
We are Episcopalian and we go and pick up my mom and a friend for the service. Then my mom comes for lunch, which is very simple. I always rest on Sunday. Funny story...we were looking to attend a new church when we moved to a new state 6 yrs ago. We made a list of all the churches we wanted to visit. Well, we stumbled in to a Mennonite church. I knew right away but my mom and hubs had no clue. We are sitting and waiting for the service to start and my 87yr old mom says very LOUDLY why do the women have bonnets on? Everyone was very nice to us.
Beautiful singing❣️ These are the hymns I love & remember from my childhood. So many churches have stopped singing these older hymns for newer, unfamiliar to me, hymns. It’s not the same. My mama did the Sunday cooking the same way.
Megan I love watching. I grew up in DE but visited Lancaster every fall. The beauty and simplicity still speak to me. Hearing those hymns was such a sweet reminder of my little home church.
Love this video ! Every Sunday is different for us as well but always includes church and rest ....I am 56 now and when I was a little girl growing up in Georgia , we would go to my grandmothers’ house in the afternoon and sit on her front porch ,drink very sweet homemade tea and my mom and her sister would tell stories and we would laugh so hard we couldn’t breathe....there were rocking chairs for rocking and a screened side porch for napping and it was one of the best parts of my childhood.....I am thankful for porches and I love rocking on mine everyday ....the simple things are the sweetest ! Thank You Lord for showing us how to enjoy life’s simple pleasures and I ask continued blessings on Megan and Josh and their precious family !!!
I loved this. I’m a Christian woman as well (non-denominational) and have much more in common with you than I expected! I loved the bit of singing during your church service and was happy that I knew them and sang along. My church also starts with Sunday school and the kids sit with everyone else during service as well. I love it that way! We do songs, prayer, testimonies, more songs, the sermon and offering and sometimes we do an alter call. I’ve been really enjoying watching your videos. Thank you for being such a bright light in this crazy world!
This was a beautiful day and a wonderful video, thanks for making this Megan! Like you said, taking a day to slow down (especially with a focus on family time) is so important!
I am Baptist, but I sure recognized your songs. Beautiful singing! Sunday School and about 40 minutes of preaching...sounds like my church. I am a widow, now, so I don't have to cook. When the children were growing up, I did cook, but tried to prepare as much as possible on Saturday. I didn't want to spend that time on Sunday. Sunday afternoon, my husband and I 'might' watch a game on TV. The children just wanted to play. Sometimes I would take a nap. Our activities varied, but were laid back and a time to unwind. I'm glad to see a young family in church attendance and spending time with each other.🙂
I'm a lapsed Episcopalian, but I just love this look at worship and the Sabbath. It's so wholesome and peaceful. It does my heart good. Thank you for allowing us into your day.
Megan, those songs took me back! I was raised Baptist and have since become non-denominational. But I loved this video and sang along with those songs. Thank you. It reminds me of amazing memories.
Thank you for sharing this glimpse into your life. Our family spends our Sundays similarly. We go to church, have lunch, relax, do some things we want to do or just have fun and hang out with our kids. Then we try and reboot before the week starts. ☺️
This was so impactful. I am reevaluating the day of rest. I tend to get so caught up with work and school that after church I sometimes lesson plan. Thank you so much for sharing.
Last Sunday your proud Papa told me to go to this website to see his daughter whom I haven't seen since you were a little girl. Now every youtube search includes one or two of your videos. I think that's funny.
I love to get in my garden on Sundays! While it is 'work' it is so relaxing to me! Love to put on a podcast or good playlist and just spend time with my plants! Like you said, rest really is in the eye of the beholder! Thanks for sharing your Sunday with us!
I grew up in a brethren church and it sounds so similar to the services you have. We did have a piano, but it wasn’t used for every song. My grandparents had church in their home when my mom was growing up and I remember her saying how the men and women sat in different areas. My sisters and I were in church every Sunday after the first week of life. I often look back and wonder how my mom did it all right after having a child 😅 I know my dad and aunts helped a lot during service, but Sunday was always such a full day! When we moved south we changed denominations, but it’s still such a big part of my early years.
I love to take Sundays off too. I do teach Sunday school to the three yr olds and go to church after that. Then we do have left overs and sandwiches. I like a Sunday afternoon nap😊
I love your sweet family time. We observe a Saturday Sabbath and try to keep it family time. I look so forward to it every week. Our big meal is sundown Friday evening. Thank you for the inspiration.
My husband and I recently decided that on Sundays when it’s raining when we get out of church we will order some kind of warm food for take out. That way when we get home on a gloomy, cloudy day we have something warm and toasty ready to eat. Plus, it keeps the kids happy too since they can eat right away when they can’t play outside to distract their hungry bellies while I make something. And of course it’s easy on our budget too since it’s only on rainy Sundays!
@@esmeraldagreen1992 this is why I quit going out to eat on Sundays, someone was having to work on a Sunday’s to feed me. I prepare for my family’s meal on Saturday.
Thank you for the beautiful video. I was raised to keep Sunday as a day of rest also. After Sunday dinner was over and the dishes were done, I got to read to my heart's content. But we also had Sunday evening services. When we were raising our own kiddos, we bought Wendy's frosties for everyone and took the long way home through the countryside. After that we had a quick lunch and then the kids took naps. Later when we moved to another area, we home-churched. My husband taught us. In good weather we would often put on a sermon and listen in the car on our way to Yosemite, which was only 45 miles from us. We had a picnic lunch and the kids would play in the river. I loved the hymns your church sang. Many modern churches never sing hymns anymore, but they are so beautiful and the words are so rich. You have a beautiful family. Thanks for sharing.
Sundays have always been a rest day for my family. No chores beyond washing up and tidying the kitchen, with a big roast for lunch and then play games or visit other family in the afternoon and then have a light tea for dinner of crumpets, which are like a pancake or sandwiches.
I enjoyed seeing your Sunday routine. I am in a different season of life as a grandma and no longer working. I do take Saturday or Sunday for myself and I read and relax and speak to God. When you have younger children the naptime is usually your work time but itIs very important to sit down and be at peace for a short time no matter what day it is
I loved seeing this. My family had a big dinner later in the day after church and a restful afternoon. My husbands family did a big fun breakfast Sunday mornings with the rest of the day being super simple.
I’m Mennonite and I appreciate seeing other different Mennonites from myself. Our church is part of Mennonite church USA. We wear whatever we want to church within reason. We also follow the old world peace traditions. Thank you for sharing your Sunday!
WOW your congregation is full of talented singers. And I agree on the baking; it isn't work, it's more like a hobby that there is never enough time for. If I'm ever in your neck of the woods on a Sunday, I will certainly look for a service to attend. Thank you for sharing.
On Sundays I usually go to first service which starts at 8:30 then once church gets out I go home and eat a late breakfast or get something out. I just chill for the rest of the day. Sometimes I read and listen to music or maybe watch a movie and maybe take a nap.
Megan, I am surprised (pleasantly) how similar your church service is to ours. I belong to a Baptist church. I have been a member there since I was 7 years old, I am now 66. I too was challenged to keep my little ones occupied during church. Crayons, notebooks, storybooks, about the same as you :). Our church isn't as formal, however, I feel the important parts are the similar. (Even Sunday School is first and is followed by church service). Take care Megan.
Your Sunday’s look wonderful, reminds me very much of how I grew up. Makes me miss my family. Enjoy every moment, if you have family, you have everything.
Love your content, you’re a super Inspiring mom and creator! As a fellow Christian really appreciate your heart on a plethora of subjects, I’m also pregnant as well, with baby number 6 😅 and watching what you do and being inspired but also reminiscing about when my oldest ( who are now 11 and 9) were your kiddos ages, and it so rings out in your mothering, content, etc that’s THESE ARE THE GOOD OLE DAYS… I get moody, ungrateful and overwhelmed by the beautiful chaos of our home, but when I watch your videos, see your creativity and love for your family and viewers, it’s so inspiring and it resets me to focus on the Lord, my surroundings and what gifts and abilities he’s given me and our family to extend out into His World, thank you sister! And God Bless
I love this! We are actually in Hershey right now. We spent the beginning of the week in Lancaster. Took your advice about the bird in hand bakery… AMAZING!!
I just found you through Lynette Yoder and I love you already! I Have been bingeing on your videos (and hers!) over the past few days. I am not Mennonite, but I am Christian, and have so much respect for your way of life. I also loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee your style - makes me want to redo my own house! May God continue to bless you and your beautiful family. xo Vicky
Possibly my favorite video yet of yours! Loved seeing your day. When I was growing up we often made breakfast for dinner on Sunday evenings it was always a fun family tradition and now I have started to do so with my own little family.
Quite a lovely video. The singing sounds like the Mennonite church of my childhood. We used to have big "company" meals on Sundays and then the simplest of meals for Sunday supper. I'm curious about how aspects of your Mennonite life have changed in the past decades. For example, it appears that your mother is wearing a cape dress, which you do not, and I suspect that she does not use mascara. The concept of a Sabbath rest is one more of us could put into practice, although with many women working full-time outside of the home it becomes difficult. I continue to appreciate the spirit and quality of your videos, and you have such a beautiful family. Thanks for all the work you put into making them interesting, informative, and joyful.
I love Sundays! Church first, then quick lunch, then my husband likes to golf and I get to spend my time quilting. I always make quilts for me on Sundays because the rest of the week I usually make things for others. I am retired and am busier than when I was working. I also volunteer during the week but not on Sundays. Sundays are for God first, then husband, then me.
My church(Church of Christ, none denominational)is very similar. We have kid time just before the sermon. It's about 5 to 7 mins long. The kids love it. I love Sundays. It's my rest day also. My mental and physical day of rest.
We are Missionary Baptist and your service structure is very similar to ours. We sing traditional hymns. We sing acapella occasionally, but we mostly have piano accompaniment. We enjoy family worship, as well, and I agree with you about teaching your children to sit and listen. I loved hearing what my kids caught when they were little. It was a blessing to this momma’s heart.
Thanks for sharing what your Sundays look like. I love the day of rest that your family does. I've been wanting to fo something similar for my family too. I grew up with my Mom making big Sunday meals and followed in her footsteps but it's a lot of work for me and I don't get to rewind or relax before my the work/school week starts up again. Thanks for the motivation. I'm going to work harder at Sunday/Sabbath being more of a day of rest after church too.😊💖
I love y’all singing. I would love to visit y’all church sometime if that ok. I also love how y’all church has children sitting in with family during sermon. I was raised that way in the Baptist church I grew up in. It absolutely teaches children to respect and learn about Christ and teaches them how to be in a true social and spiritual quite sitting. Love y’all videos.
I remember as a kid that Sunday was a day for church and fun. We made cookies and things like that. When I became a teen it definitely changed to being a day to reset for the week. I struggle now to find a day to just stop and rest. I'm working on getting there but it's definitely a challenge for sure.
Ah how did I not find your channel sooner!!! Love this channel!!! I am Roman Catholic and agree it’s super important to have the children in church with you , watching what you do the pastor.. learning how to be reverent etc… I love that your church does this too. I love learning about Amish and Mennonite as the simplistic lifestyle just seems so calming to me… ♥️
I'm a Latter-day Saint and our Sundays are pretty similar. Church services are simple, with family sacrament meeting for the first hour with that ordinance and talks/sermons from congregation members (asked by the bishop) in the first hour and divided classes in the second hour, though most singing is with the organ. We don't work, shop, go to paid events, order out, or do other things that require other people to work either; those get planned for other days (though of course running to the store for emergency medicine and things like that is totally fine). Sometimes we do a fancy meal if we want to, other times it's something simple and easy with minimal cleanup. We set the table extra nice, do Zoom storytime with grandparents, listen to uplifting music more intentionally than during the week, I work on our church newsletter (that's my calling, aka volunteer job I was asked to do and happily accepted), etc. In an ideal world I'd also have/make more time for hobbies like my flute or calligraphy, but I do try to journal via my private family blog. Sometimes we walk around the neighborhood and chat a bit with neighbors, go on a family bike ride, etc. On Monday evenings we have scripture- or principle-based church lessons as a family to either recap Sunday's lessons, prep for the week, or focus on a lesson our kids need (this week it was bike safety for my almost 6yo who just learned to ride a two wheeler and needs to know how to be safe now that his participation in that activity is different).
It's been a while since commenting, but do know I very much appreciate all of your videos. SO nice to see such a nice young family advancing in this realm! Amazing how quickly children grow. Just wanted to say that I agree with you about having your children with you in Church. I was raised that way, and still have many fond memories of being in Church with my parents and learning how to "work" the service with the hymnal and the Bible and such. We weren't allowed to have books or toys, but my Mom used to share mints with us. That was the only day we had access to her private stash. We saw them as a "Church treat" as children, but grew to learn it was a way to keep us quiet! LOL... To this very day, as a G'ma now, I carry mints not only for myself...to "shut me up" if I feel angry words welling up, and as a "treat" for others. I can't count how many arguments I've averted by offering mints and quickly changing topic! LOL TY, TC, and best wishes to you and yours! {hugz}

Poor
It is not Friday but I want to wish you Shabbat Shalom!
@@karenmartin9743 - thank you. I have the custom of saying Shabbat Shalom starting on Wednesday if I won't see the person before Shabbat.
I would give anything to go back and wish I had been adopted by them but God had other plans 😊😊
I loved Sundays in their home, the food, the fellowship at church, the Sundays when we had church family over for a large meal and yes….even the quiet time ❤️
I totally agree. I loved this and have a similar background to you. Definitely subscribed.
My goodness! I am blown away at how well your kids language is developed at such a young age. Way to go mama!!
My husband is a pastor too so I can relate. It’s hard to draw a line between work and family, because that’s what our congregation is to us too.
@@jenniewren9351 most definitely true. ❤️
In Germany all stores are closed on Sundays and holidays so you don’t even have the possibility to spend money even if you want to 😅 of you need something you have to buy it at a gas station for a lot of money
Beautiful songs to the Lord! I’m baptist and grew up with hymns and piano. Now it’s worship leaders but I love both!
She definitely deserved a break. Bless her
Hot ham and rolls, some chips, baked beans, tater salad or coleslaw and pickles.
That’s awesome. I didn’t know everyone could just visit. Definitely on my list of things to do!
@@catherinemuhuri9488 Jewish ppl are not Black.

But I repeat, He was born Jewish.
Congratulations!!
I am also accn.
The signing in church was really good! Lovely seeing how you spend your Sunday very relaxing.
Anyway....lol
I made a rule at home that Sundays were no longer a work day.
I grew up LDS. You should read the CES letter... 🥴
@@karliebrooks6265 came here to comment this lol
I was looking for another member of my church. Love that we sit as a family for first hour.
I grew up Amish so our Sunday are lot like y'all & we are German Baptist & church start 10 & is over around 12 and after that it a relaxing day .
Megan, the acapella singing!! So gorgeous. Thank you for sharing!!
I love you videos ❤ I am a young married housewife with very similar views. I have always been curious about what my local mennonite church is like.
This is lovely Megan. This is similar to what we do, but we observe a Saturday Sabbath. We call it Shabbat, or Shabbos.:)
beautiful!
Was about to say this - not that we are great at keeping Shabbat
We too observe a Saturday. Call it the Sabbath
thank you for this video.

Wow! That's exactly how getting ready for Church when our girls were little!! Now they are 10, 12, and 14.
Libby, I too was raised Southern Baptist and loved hearing the songs I was so familiar with. Took me back to years ago as well. 😊
Wow! Crazy! So sorry if the TH-cam algorithm is haunting you!😄
I love to get in my garden on Sundays! While it is 'work' it is so relaxing to me! Love to put on a podcast or good playlist and just spend time with my plants! Like you said, rest really is in the eye of the beholder! Thanks for sharing your Sunday with us!
I watched this while getting ready for church!
This is a great idea!
Eateries are open because people buying, if no one bought they would be closed on Sunday.
You have a precious family. So wonderful to take a day and enjoy each other.
Sundays have always been a rest day for my family. No chores beyond washing up and tidying the kitchen, with a big roast for lunch and then play games or visit other family in the afternoon and then have a light tea for dinner of crumpets, which are like a pancake or sandwiches.
Luv those crumpets...like an English muffin. I've made them at home. Very easy. Use can rings for molds on griddle while baking. Fun! Delicious!

On Sundays I usually go to first service which starts at 8:30 then once church gets out I go home and eat a late breakfast or get something out. I just chill for the rest of the day. Sometimes I read and listen to music or maybe watch a movie and maybe take a nap.
Thank you for sharing the clips from your church service. The singing was beautiful!
Congratulations on baby number 6! I'm one of 9, so I love to hear about other big families.
@@katherinewest2925 I'm one of 9, too, Katherine. ❤️
Well said
I love this! We are actually in Hershey right now. We spent the beginning of the week in Lancaster. Took your advice about the bird in hand bakery… AMAZING!!
I live in Harrisburg close by and yes, the food around here is absolutely awesome! Homemade food is a must for so many occasions. :)
May God continue to bless you and your beautiful family. xo Vicky
Megan thank you for sharing the signing at your church. It was beautiful!
Lititz Springs Park and the ducks. So many childhood memories! 🦆
I'm going to work harder at Sunday/Sabbath being more of a day of rest after church too.😊💖
The singing was beautiful..... I even sang along. There's nothing like good harmony.
What a beautiful and peaceful video. Thank you for sharing your family and faith with us.
I love learning about Amish and Mennonite as the simplistic lifestyle just seems so calming to me… ♥️
I haven’t watched in a while and didn’t know you are expecting! Congratulations!
That sandwich looks so good ! I love some crusty bread with olive oil.
It's been a while since commenting, but do know I very much appreciate all of your videos. SO nice to see such a nice young family advancing in this realm! Amazing how quickly children grow.
Just wanted to say that I agree with you about having your children with you in Church. I was raised that way, and still have many fond memories of being in Church with my parents and learning how to "work" the service with the hymnal and the Bible and such. We weren't allowed to have books or toys, but my Mom used to share mints with us. That was the only day we had access to her private stash. We saw them as a "Church treat" as children, but grew to learn it was a way to keep us quiet! LOL... To this very day, as a G'ma now, I carry mints not only for myself...to "shut me up" if I feel angry words welling up, and as a "treat" for others. I can't count how many arguments I've averted by offering mints and quickly changing topic! LOL
TY, TC, and best wishes to you and yours! {hugz}
Sunday's are our relaxing days too, that's when I get all my laundry done and have some me time 🥰
