Guess what? I’m celebrating a $500k stock portfolio today! It all started with a modest $70k, and I’ve been making smart investments that have paid off tremendously. Now, I have the time to enjoy my family and plan for the future. Copy trading has been a game-changer for me.

Hey Shawn, I’m a 22 year old man who’s worked hard in farm and factory jobs. I’ve saved up enough to buy my first 160 acre unorganized property up in northwestern Ontario, and I’m debt free. While I’ve struggled to find purpose in my work, I believe building something meaningful with my father and brothers this spring will give me the sense of purpose I’ve been seeking. You remind me a lot of Dick Proenneke, and your journey has really inspired me. Cheers!

Wow, how impressive. May God bless you in the life you build from here on in.
My advice: marry young… be *really* careful who you marry, but don’t think of looking for perfection. Find someone you can love, make sure both of you are on the same page and that you both treat marriage as being *for life*. Have loads of babies. It doesn’t matter if you’re broke… that will pass, but family is for a lifetime.
Above all, remember eternity. Make sure you come to know Christ as your Saviour, and bring your children up with the Scripture.
So impressive what you’ve done. You live in a wonderful country… as long as you’re left alone by those in power.
      All the best from Scotland!

I'm 54 also Shawn. My wife and I, who live out in the country, just spent the past 5 nights taking care of our granddaughters, aged 4 and 1 while their parents were on vacation. You and your wife are going to love baby sitting your grandkids when the time comes at the cabin. It will be the some of the best memories of their life when they grow up, spending time with you guys out in the bush. Glass half full bud.

Hi Shawn, as a 62 year old who has spent my entire adult life in technology and I sell robotic systems that are used in manufacturing, I have come to realize that it is important to us as humans to stay in connection with manual pursuits and our connection with nature outdoors. By that I mean, working with our hands. One of the reasons I started following your channel is that manual effort you implement to accomplish living tasks with hand tools. My woodworking shop is entirely hand tools only. I have no power tools and do woodworking with only hand tools that I have restored. During the day, my life is manufacturing robotics. Not to replace people but to augment their manufacturing skills working in tandem with a machine. But on weekends and days that I am not working, I work in my shop with hand tools that I restored and learned to use. I take time outdoors for hiking, hunting and fishing. We live in a technolopoly where technology infiltrates out lives, so working with our hands and spending time in nature is more important than ever.

Excellent stuff... I made a post, after yours. I am a Robotic Welding Techie and have built more than 20+ 3D Printers and CNC machines. I've been a Programmer since the late 70's. I learned to use AI to trade Crypto Coins and now make more money than I could - working... I gather that what you do, you only do because you enjoy it, not because you have to... That's why Computers were first invented... To free up people from menial tasks and enjoy the things they preferred to do... There's an old saying... Find a job that you enjoy doing and it becomes Play, instead of Work... Maybe inadvertently, you have succeeded in doing just that 🙂

I'm not that much older than your daughters and it took me my whole 20s to find something decent to aim at as lifegoal and as I am getting older I do what I can to keep digitalization in check, so it doesn't seep into my life too much. The peace and rewarding nature of what you've built is truly inspiring. You can let and cut and regulate the amount of diglitalization in your life so easily now and it seems as really best of both worlds - modern and oldschool mixed at will. As I said, mister, you're quite the inspiration and hopefully I'd reach the same state of mind one day, hopefully in my 40s. Wish a you a great 2025.

Hello, am a 78 yr female. Have watched your steady deliberate workmanship since you began and Cali was just a pup. Now have 5 or 6 great-grandchildren myself so you have much to look forward to. In fact your interest and priorities are already changing into what can I build for their future lives. Just like your project's over these past years, steady, loving, precision, hard work, will be your example to the next generation's. Its the stone thrown in the lake that skips and ripples over the water becoming the next example to follow. You've already given them that gift and they will pick it up to carry it on. The best years are ahead watching that fruit ripen. Enjoy ❤️✝️

We went from no electricity to running water to putting a man on the moon.
Progress is inevitable and the way the world is moving, it’s up to each person to decide what path they want to take to make their lives better and healthier. Yes it’s crazy seeing robots and AI growing at unrealistic levels but we have a choice to make it improve our lives and planet.
I put my family and health first as many people do with hopes of a better future but having a strong relationship with God is the most valuable gift we can have and share with others.
    Blessings to you all.

I'm 76 and my father grew up on a farm in North Dakota that my grandfather and great grandfather homesteaded about 1900. They did well, had a Delco (generator), a Model T, and farmed about 2000 acres until the double whammy of the Dustbowl and the Great Depression hit them. They couldn't overcome those and lost the entire farm. It completely changed the trajectory of my Dad's life. An important thing to consider is that the old ways of self-sufficent living depended on a multigenerational household. If your kids don't buy into it who is going to do the strenuous work in your old age?

I will be 55 in Feb. I spent nearly 35 years in the rat race/professional game you chose to leave. The good news I was able to bank money and we did pretty well. The bad news? I have been unhappy and unfulfilled since my 30's. Now as I peer into the future I have options. I have some regrets but the positives out weigh the negatives. I don't know what is coming but I suspect 2050 is going to look very different. So my best advice to the young people out there is find something you enjoy doing and figure out ways to those things as much as possible. If you can derive income from it all the better. If you take the professional route I did, minimally, use your grind to bank as much money as you can. You can at least end up like me, it wasn't a great journey but I have options now, good options. I don't have to work if I don't want too, and when I do work I get to pick what I want to do. It took my 30+ years to get to that point though.
I wish I had better advice but that was my journey, I wish you luck on yours.

A sense of calm washes over me when I watch your channels. I love to see Cali doing Cali things whether she’s front stage or in the background. As for what I tell my daughters, live life. Tomorrow is not promised, no where in the Bible does it say that, and time is fleeting. I tell them “Don’t wake up one day at 54”, like I did this year, and ask “where did the days go?” You can always make money but you can never get back time. My oldest is 23 and an engineer, her role will likely be replaced with AI. My youngest (19) is just starting college, she has no idea if she’s coming or going most days. I just pray and raise them up to God for protection and guidance.

ALWAYS strive to be self reliant, change is constant. I believe the idea of family compounds, where there is a support system to provide shelter, energy, water, food, shared work loads, with the necessary tools and equipment to maintain and protect that compound. If there is technology available it can be utilized for continuing education and an eye on the world. We need to be able to function witnout it ! Isn't that what you are trying to achieve ? The evidence of what you are accomplishing is not lost on your girls !

When I was a kid, if we went out into the mountains to go fishing, we would always stop in a little town to get a pop and some worms. It was quite common back then that small rural communities had one phone at the general store/post office. The postmaster/operator would sell you a stamp, a pop or put a call through for you. The phones were the big wall phones that had a crank. Last week my computer broke. I figured out that the boot record/BCD on the Widows OS was corrupted and needed to be rewritten. I wondered if I could take my M.2 SSD stick that had my OS installed on it and put it into a USB adapter case and plug it into my laptop to rewrite the BCD. I Googled it in several ways but came up empty. I then queried AI. It replied after a few seconds, "Sure you can mount your M.2 SSD into your adapter case and insert it into your laptop USB port and rewrite your BCD from your laptop. Would you like me to assist you with this?"

A piece of wisdom that's helped me through most of my life is... "Promotions and pay increases are buying something. They buy your soul. Your mind, will, and emotions come at a price and you need to decide how much of your soul you are willing to let another control." The more you can grow, hunt, catch, and make, the more you can be in control of your life. I wish the best for your daughter's decisions and future.

As a nurse I don’t foresee myself being replaced by AI/ robots just d/t the nature of my job but I do worry about the future of healthcare. Most of the younger generation rely too heavily on technology and don’t use all of their senses while assessing a patient. I try to tell them that your pt will tell you something is wrong waaay before any machine. They also lack critical thinking skills, communication skills and common sense.

I am close to 50 and today my boss asked me to attend and AI training session for software coming to our company later this year. It was truly frightening to say the least. For now it takes a human to tell it what to do but I know that won’t last long. At this point I am praying I make it to retirement age before I am completely replaced but I know those are long odds. As for my kids I tell them they need to Learn everything they can about it because either you master it and become one of the people in control of it or you will be whatever becomes of everyone who refuses to pay attention to it. The ladder seems like a pretty bleak existence.

one thing springs to mind Shawn, from what your musings have developed, is that a basic home-help robot costs $X.00 now and the aim is to produce so many millions of them, there needs to be a plan on the part off the producers to ensure that the 20+ year olds have the means to purchase them. What has occurred, and is continuing to occur in L.A. and environs is taking many billions of $'s out of circulation and limiting the insurance for damages payed out. The two situations aren't really compatible.

Haven't seen your stuff in awhile but I'm glad I checked this one out. Lots of truthful information, but I would have been interested in the gap between people no longer being required due to AI & robots and your explanation of people having lots of extra time and reaping the benefits of longevity advances and such. There are light years to be traversed in that gap. Lots of people were provided loads of extra time in the 1930s in America, as well. The historical story unfolding now is far more interesting and far more important than the 1930s I think. It will be the defining period of human history I would imagine.

Over the course of my 67 years, if I have learned anything, it has been to cherish every precious moment when with those you love and those who love you. Between the robots, the AI, and a longer healthy life span, the one advantage we humans will always have is our ability to personally feel the profit of the time we spend. It therefore becomes more valuable and something automatons who can access the knowledge of the world will never understand. They have no internal appreciation of time. That being said, all humans, especially your daughters, can rest assured that their future financial well-being will not be determined by the time they spend working but more importantly by the time they spend living, loving, and appreciating other human beings.

I lead the AI research team at a US Big4 accounting firm, and I can tell you for certain that all humans won’t be replaced right away (I speak primarily of knowledge workers here) but the first humans to be replaced will be those folks who aren’t early adopters of generative AI. I am a classically trained accountant, and with 75% of all current accountants retiring in 15 years, we are working hard to integrate AI (young people are not willing to become accountants for several reasons) into my profession. Young people must learn to use these AI tools, no matter what profession they enter. It is a super power for those that do. Now is the time to get the edge over others. Be well Shawn, sending warm vibes from Alaska.

There are some professions that will never be automated. They require a personal touch that need human interaction for. Counseling, Public relations, Child and adult care all fit this category. As more things become automated, hand built crafts will become more valued. Artisans have become few and their products are sought after. There's something about a hand built item that people just want, with all its flaws and imperfections something primal awakens.

Throughout history, each generation has had challenges. Only you can choose what to advise your own children knowing them well enough that they’ll either disagree, rebel or follow. In my case, I decided to be a rock when they need it. Let them follow their own impulses, heart or ambitions as they’ve been preprogrammed (gifted) to do. Knowing they have a rock to lean on (whether physically or spiritually/legacy) is the least we can aim to provide.
Hopefully, it will help them decide how they choose to raise their own children who will undoubtedly have their own challenges that us, one day grandparents, will most likely not have encountered other than recognising it as the ever repeating cycle of challenge to be faced. Although, I must own to not seeing being cancelled coming as a challenge our youth are expected to overcome!😂 Nor the possibility some of us being absorbed into another country!
I like the spiritual metaphors, analogies and words/stories of wisdom that Buddhists have used for centuries. And still relevant today when applied to advice sought by our challenged, troubled youth.
As far as new currencies and the implication of robotic assistance and AI? ….even Jesus effectively advised to accept society governance without bias. 😂 Except, of course, 🇬🇧 Farmer Harmer Starmer’s Inheritance tax debacle. Even He would consider that to be an overreach.
Oh there’s a thought! Tell your daughters that if Rachel from accounts can become Chancellor of the Exchequer, they can too. Maybe that’ll help them to focus on something they enjoy long term rather than a random path of CV manipulation for financial reward cut short. Unless they’re looking to have a global crash named after them! 🤣
    What a show, eh?
Happy New Year, Chez James 🎉🎉🎉🎉
