      Mozart started writing German Dances for the "Ballsaison" in Vienna in 1787. This was a part of his obligations as newly entitled "Kaiserlicher Kammer-Compositeur". After his early death in 1791, his elderly friend took over this work for few seasons, Then, in 1795, Beethoven started to provide the dancing society with the more and more popular "German Dances", starting in 1795. Even later, also young Franz Schubert wrote this type of dances. We can see the origin of the Viennese Waltz - Wiener Walzer - in these activities by these famous composers. From the very beginning the waltz in Vienna showed a clear influence from the near-by folk music in the Eastern Alps.

    From @:48 to @1:19 (bridge) is a marvelous opportunity for me for improvisation. All in A flat 4 flats. Have been experimenting for 2 years & have finally discovered the magic elixir. Can really go wild in these 71 seconds but it is absolutely crucial to return to the original home melody at @1:20. Not easy because the wild exuberance carries me away. A perfect opportunity to flash lightning technique & what essentially comes down to improvisational & compositional technique. 👍 Also for beginning to @:48 I am improvising a set partner melody.In this piece I play nothing as written. 2nd piano stuff from Original God Mind.

      Waltzes aren't an unrestrained mean of expressing musical artistry. They're beautiful and enjoyable, but their purpose is to allow people to move to their sound. When you listen to any kind of dance music, you don't feel like the melodies are outstanding. But when you see the actual dance you understand why. The real masterpiece is the product of the melody combined with choreography, not the melody alone. So if you feel like this piece lacks something, it is dancers. ^^

    • @davew4998
      @davew4998 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@GloriamMonarchia I think you've got it the wrong way round. If waltzes are written and played well, then people want to dance to them. The problem with this piece is that it's played by computer with no feeling whatsoever. No dynamics, no emphasis on the melodic line, and no variation in the timing. Above all, it's just too fast. How could anyone dance a waltz to it?

    • @GloriamMonarchia
      @GloriamMonarchia 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@davew4998 I agree with your observation, indeed. Even as I wrote my intial reply, I thought it would make sense to also mention the comment you previously made, because it tells the truth. Let me do it now by answering to you.
      The piece is spiritless. But it is also important to bring the attention of listeners to the fact that pieces intended for dancing will not be as extravagant or as complex as pieces intended for listening alone.

      In the countryside as early as around 1750, but then as merely rural dances. It was revolutionary at that time that the dancing couples came into close physical contact while dancing. The name Waltz is derived from "walzen", a rotating type of movement. It is first mentioned in Goethes novel "Die Leiden des jungen Werthers" where he desccribed when the main person "waltzed" around with his admired, but already married Lotte: "Wir tanzten und walzten durchs ganze Haus." This novel was written in 1774.

      @@niccolopaganini4268 If you listen carefully to the sound of Beethoven's late works then you will realize that also this little waltz is really made by Beethoven. The trio part corresponds directly to Beethovens bagatell op 126 #4, and there is no doubt about who wrote it. Compare the drone effect in both pieces imitating a bagpipe. It is exactly the same musical language. Like many painters Beethoven passed several periods in his live, with different styles, and the trio in the little waltz is typical for the style in Beethoven's late 'mystic' period when he was completely deaf and very lonely. The little waltz is dated to the year 1824.

      That's because this walz is probably to improvise upon, while Tchaikovsky's are full compositions.
