5:52 some detachers (or decouplers) use small explosives to get one part of the rocket go One way, and seperate the other part and go the other way.

I think workshop hunters might be my favorite scrapman serie of videos
"Why don't we use nukes to go to space?" The Orion Nuclear Pulse Drive, AKA Project Orion, was a genuine joint USAF/NASA/DARPA project back in the 50s and 60s to develop a spacecraft engine which literally consisted of throwing nukes out of the back of the spaceship and then riding the shockwave. It was actually really good compared to conventional chemical rockets, with both high thrust and high efficiency. It would also have been relatively cheap. The main problems, naturally, were with a: riding the shockwaves without being destroyed, and b: environmental concerns regarding nuclear fallout (which wouldn't have been a problem in interplanetary travel anyway, though surviving still would).

I'm surprised that one of the rocket's had side decouplers using explosives because the real life decouplers do use small explosives to separate each stage of the rocket.
I can see that they used the smallest explosive in scrap mechanic for the decouplers but it worked a little too well by looking at what happened.

@@victordumitriu9180 I'm actually pretty sure it didn't. I went to the video tab on Scrapman's channel page, scrolled down until every video he has ever made and kept public on this channel was loaded, and then searched for "normal" using ctrl+f and no matches were found.

Some rockets actually did use explosive bolts for staging and etc. also for flight termination.

Multiplayer Monday idea: You each build a boat with a vacuum pump connected to a chest filled with concrete. The goal is to sink the other ships by weighing them down using the vacuum pump. (Day 9)

The nuclear powered rocket is an actual idea. People have suggested a propulsion method that basically is blowing a nuke and ride on the shockwave (obviously you need a massive shield to protect from the explosion). This has not been tested yet, I think.
It was never tested with any kind of nuclear explosive but it seems they did construct models to test with conventional explosives, but little information of the tests or their results is available.
Luckily one of the project managers or something finally decided detonating nukes in the sky repeatedly wasn't very smart. Just kidding, they actually just got banned from doing it.
It was called Orion.

Not to act like I'm smart or anything, but there are actually concepts out their that- quite literally- used nuclear bombs to propel spacecraft, mainly the Orion Drive. It was looked at back in the 60s during the space race but got ditched because of lack of funding. Seriously cool though, would definitely recommend checking it out.

Lol there was actually a rocket set to launch itself using nukes it dropped behind it but due to some restrictions of course it couldn't be used. Also I watched this while playing Kerbal Space Program ironically.
