Jenova is to final fantasy 7 like how Nemesis is to resident evil. A horrific masterpiece. The evolution of jenova is amazing to have viewed over the many years
I've never played the original FF7 but i watched a video on the whole story of FF7 throughout the compilation of FF7. My first real FF experience was mostly from kingdom hearts 1 and 2. I played FF10 when i was younger but i was a dumb kid and was clueless. As i got older i started wanting to see what these games i haven't played were about since at the time all i played was FPS shooters and sports games. When i saw the trailer for FF7 Remake i knew that i would have to finally try it out. My first FF that i managed to beat was 15 and i kept watching trailers for the remake excited waiting for more FF. I finally got the chance to play it and i wasn't amazed but i did enjoy my time, the characters and the world after only seeing these characters in kingdom hearts. I'm 25 now and I've completed a handful of JRPGs and i can only say that I'm hooked. This game was my most anticipated game for the past 3 years ever since the trailer for rebirth came out. I finally beat the game yesterday and i don't think I've ever cried so much tears and sobbed experiencing any sort of media. I was crying for straight 10 mins watching what happened to Aerith even though i knew what was going to happen. it didn't change the gravity of watch i just watch happen after 70hrs of being so attached to these characters. I can safely say that i now know why FF7 is held in the regard that it has had for the past 27 years. I hope i make it to see the remake finish its trilogy. I'm so privileged that i got to play such a master piece. Thank you square enix
In conflicting ways she did and didn't. Her fate was to die and become one with the lifestream, she exists in an alternate timeline alive, which is what sephiroth wanted, but same time has died in the main timeline. Cloud can still see her from that alternate timeline speaking to him, since these moments bind fate and the timelines close together.
@@DanTheMan33088no I’m calling it now she’s dead those worlds are not the real world but memories of worlds that could of been but never were there is only one living world the world we’ve been playing
Aerith saying "its ok" reminded me of the original where i think she knew she had to die to become one woth the life stream cause she knew holy might fail and she used the lifestream as a weapon. I think Sephiroth knows this and was trying to "not" kill her cause with her alive Lifestream cant stop Meteor. Also Cloud saying my turn and immidiatly gets bitch slapped by Jenova made my day And for those interested Jenova theme also sounds awesome in MIDI m.th-cam.com/video/ipN_I_0dyW4/w-d-xo.html
There's something incredibly epic about just how damaged Jenova is in the final phase after the "9999" attack cutscene. Outer skull is smashed to bits, her chest orb thing is completely obliterated, her ribs are all broken or missing, her wings are torn to shreds and on fire. And she is P-I-S-S-E-D.
Finished today. Sephiroth why you do me like this AGAIN? 1997 and now in 2024? When Aerith's theme plays, seeing them all PISSED with the limit breaks at the start. You made me cry.
I do miss Cloud going through the anger part of grief in this scene. "What is this pain? My hands are tingling. My mouth is dry. My eyes are burning." So good. This scene is good too though, just different
TQ @gamersprey for the vid. Gonna share something I noticed thanks to your vid, Jenova was having white materia/aspects of the lifestream hostage in the fight. 18:45
I think it's the most epic, dramatic and beautyfull fight i've ever seen in a video game. Everything is here, the music, emotions, storytelling within the gameplay himself.....well, we're not ready for part 3 my friends 😮
SE really seems to have it out for our hearts in recent years. First FF14 got its "You can save him this time" moment and now 7 too...both to end in tragedy anyways
Honestly think this should have been the final boss. Not every game needs to have Sephiroth as the final fight, it cheapens his threat as a villain if we beat him multiple times. This fight was epic enough, just the right length and would have allowed us to stay focussed on losing Aerith. By the end of the Sephiroth fight after I'd almost forgotten Aerith had died.
At first i thought it cloud was seeing multiverse shenanigans but then i realized his shattered mind was just rewritting what happened for him to be able to cope with whats happening, just like he did with Zack. They did Clouds insanity right in this
I Guess he is seeing multiverse but he don't realize it because is insanity is far too strong. U Can see two part on the fight aerith thème/jenova thème. Two reality for me ( the talk between the party is absolutly not in adequation with her Lost)
this game litrally played out all of disc 2 and disc 3 look at this fight taking down to the planets core like in the OG the Sephiroth Reborn fight Yuffie with the video camera Huge materia mentioned theres so many i could mention
I get that it's a JRPG and final boss rushes are just part of the deal, but we definitely did not need an hour's worth of boss fights that didn't match the narrative tone. I'm trying to reserve judgment until Part 3 comes out and hopefully ties everything together, but man does it feel like this scene was done a disservice in a vacuum. I certainly wouldn't call it bad, but it doesn't carry near the amount of weight as the original, and it could have.
@@MANJYOMETHUNDER111 You realize I literally said that I'm trying to reserve judgment for Part 3, right? You also realize that the developers chose to release this without the full context of the full ending, and that any judgments made in the absence of that context (in the original, it was pretty clear in the moment what was happening, by the way) are completely reasonable because they gave us nothing else to go on, right? You can only work with what you have, not with what might be- especially as you're experiencing it. Viewing something with hindsight is entirely different than experiencing it in the moment. With that in mind, regardless of what they choose to do with contextualizing Aerith's death in the overarching narrative, it does not change the minimized impact the scene had in the moment itself. I'm not saying it had no impact, because it did once you realized what was happening, but not nearly what it could and should have had. People spent more time trying to figure out what was actually happening than anything else, and before they had time to even hope to process anything, got sent into an hour+ boss rush where the tone was all over the place and they piled on the confusion. I love this game, I think they did a great job overall. I just think they fumbled this scene's impact a bit (which is ironic because I think the idea of Cloud not fully realizing what happened by the end is an improvement), and no amount of broader context will change that.
@@Rvckus I think the narrative is fairly clear on the topic. You're still contextualizing it using the death scene from the original game when there's no point in comparing the two. It has a different impact, which is being confused for a lesser one
@@MANJYOMETHUNDER111 I think this is where we have a fundamental disagreement. If you played the original, you really can't help but compare the remake to the original on some level. Presumably, it's what drew you to the remake to begin with- seeing the things you loved back then recreated. And why wouldn't you compare them? Part of the allure of a remake is to see how modern capabilities can improve on the original, which the remake project largely has done. With that said, I don't disagree that the impact in this scene is different. It is, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Comparing to what the experience with the original was though, on its face, it is lesser as it is unfolding. Not bad by any means, and I'm sure it will fit far better into the broader context of the story when Part 3 comes out, but certainly lesser when tonally the scene is all over the place whereas in the original it was consistent. I don't think it's unfair criticism to point that out, especially when Rebirth goes so far as to have characters weirdly cracking jokes in the immediate aftermath. Does it ruin the game or, more specifically, the story? Absolutely not, but I also don't exactly think they did what the scene was originally supposed to be a service by shifting the tone several times over an hour of boss rush. I don't think they did what a remake is broadly supposed to do which re-capture the feel of the original and/or improve upon it.
Keep in mind the glitches. Tifa sees blood and no blood too. This is the 2nd timeline. The original in 97 is the first. That’s why Aerith didn’t get impaled like the original
the only thing i missed from the original was the individual character reactions to aerith but with the way the fight went it would have been hard to do 😭
Whats the deal at 14:54 party of red XIII and Yuffie while I get Yuffie and Cait Sith. Either its random or the game purposly assigned my two least favorite characters to pair up
i have a feeling its in order of most - least used because i got yuffie and barret in phase one then tifa and cait sith at the 14:54 stage. might be similar to how in remake your party changed fighting sephiroth depending on the values in the previous fights. but also could be random - did anyone figure this out??
@dalek367 if it's order of most to least than that could be it because Cait Sith and Red XIII I played the least together. Didn't like Cait Sith fighting style, but I did mainly used Red XIII paired with Aerith or Tifa and Cloud as he's usually 1 of the 3 usually locked in party all the time.
Yknow, the whispers being there kind of shows how in the original game Cloud was being forced to try and kill Aerith. And the fact they tried keeping us away showed that we could prevent it but chose not to.
the second phase has nice music, but i don't know how i feel about the transition from the first part. seems way too energetic after aerith just died, yknow?
@@Teazxxx i know that, im just surprised they stopped playing what sounds like an arrangement of aerith’s theme in favor of a full on Jenova remix in phase 2. aerith’s theme playing when you fight Jenova Life makes sense, like if they played Jenova’s theme in the original instead it would have been tonal inconsistent
Unlike the original however this is the end of the game so they wanted both the original feels of Aeriths theme into Jenova Life(clinger) but also a big climactic team fight against Jenova and Sephiroth.
This was almost perfect. Aerith’s theme while fighting was heartbreaking and I’ve probably ever had that much tears during a boss fight. However, it would have been even better if the samples the characters are saying would have been changed into something more desperate, sad and angry, shouting at the Jenova like ”Im gonna kill you!” or just crying. Also, the sudden transition to Jenova theme sort of changed the sad desparation feel of it too fast. It could have been more subtle.
I kinda wished they saved this one last. Have Sephiroth be first for the gang to defy fate. And when Cloud reaches the end, the gang falls into rage when this happens. Like to them, what was the point of all the effort just for it to happen? The theme would have been more emotional and make Cloud trip out more.

I really thought aerith was gonna survive too.
@@MrOrcshaman I’m calling it now, those visions of Aerith and Zack that he sees in Advent Children are them in the alternate timeline
@@DanTheMan33088no I’m calling it now she’s dead those worlds are not the real world but memories of worlds that could of been but never were there is only one living world the world we’ve been playing
@@NeoakiraIV That's a good theory
Aerith saying "its ok" reminded me of the original where i think she knew she had to die to become one woth the life stream cause she knew holy might fail and she used the lifestream as a weapon. I think Sephiroth knows this and was trying to "not" kill her cause with her alive Lifestream cant stop Meteor.
Also Cloud saying my turn and immidiatly gets bitch slapped by Jenova made my day
And for those interested Jenova theme also sounds awesome in MIDI

I mean, plunging 500ft with Masamune into someone isn't necessarily a way to try to not kill someone lol.
The music transition is what really got me balling my eyes out....
One of the best games ever made, un ff'ing believable!!
2:08 Me: YES!
2:32 Me: NO NOO NOOO NOT AGAIN!!
13 year old inner me: ah $hit here we go again
For real. I genuinely thought we could save her this time
Can you upload sephiroth’s boss theme or other boss themes from rebirth?
He not post theme but oficial soundtrack out in abril
I paused the fight just to listen to Jenovas Rebirth Theme... gave me goosebumbs. Perfection :)
My top 3 games Ff7 The Witcher 3 and Red Death Redemption 2 only this 3 games gave me hard gosebumbs hope this masterpiece will win Goty 2024🎉
Finished today. Sephiroth why you do me like this AGAIN? 1997 and now in 2024? When Aerith's theme plays, seeing them all PISSED with the limit breaks at the start. You made me cry.
Everyone starting with their Limits full EXCEPT for Cloud was that made it so much more imoactful for me.
Man the goosebumps that I get when she transforms and the actual theme sets in, it’s perfect
I do miss Cloud going through the anger part of grief in this scene. "What is this pain? My hands are tingling. My mouth is dry. My eyes are burning." So good. This scene is good too though, just different
2:03 OMG WE SAVED HER!!!!
2:34 Well yes but actually no.
10:14 This shot is epic. Looks exactly what I thought Jenova LIFE looked like in the OG game when I was a kid.
Damn fighting Jenova while listening to Aerith’s theme after she died, must be very emotional😢
They really did it my heart smashed when I fu
An emotional moment immediately cheapened by the following hour of contrived writing
game of the decade
Holy crap this looks amazing!
TQ @gamersprey for the vid. Gonna share something I noticed thanks to your vid, Jenova was having white materia/aspects of the lifestream hostage in the fight. 18:45
11:26 this is my favorite part of this boss, man... unbelievable!
Man that theme song with Aerith's theme at the beginning . So epic 6:28
Aerith’s theme playing in the background while you’re fighting is just too much ;_;.
After THAT cutscene, when the battle music starts, i cry like a baby.
Tifa: You good?
Cait: Better than that thing’s gonna be in a few minutes.
Tifa (and me): GOT THAT RIGHT
chills
I didn’t think they could top the remake jenova fight. But this is the literal peak jenova fight
10:07 the reveal of jenovas wings alongside that ost kicking in was perfection
So many emotions so many feels :(
I think it's the most epic, dramatic and beautyfull fight i've ever seen in a video game. Everything is here, the music, emotions, storytelling within the gameplay himself.....well, we're not ready for part 3 my friends 😮
The cs where the entire team is attacking jenova lifeclinger while falling is badass
SE really seems to have it out for our hearts in recent years. First FF14 got its "You can save him this time" moment and now 7 too...both to end in tragedy anyways
Nobel Prize winning game right here
Honestly think this should have been the final boss.
"By the end of the Sephiroth fight after I'd almost forgotten Aerith had died." --- Like Cloud.
Agreed, the boss rush was too long it overshadowed what should've been THE moment. Jenova was perfect as the final boss
It really doesn't
Absolute Kino
That was a wild road 🔥 Absolute GOTY
6:26 this transition
Perfect isn't it
That triple Limit Break attack was insane.
Two reality for me ( the talk between the party is absolutly not in adequation with her Lost)
this game litrally played out all of disc 2 and disc 3 look at this fight taking down to the planets core like in the OG the Sephiroth Reborn fight Yuffie with the video camera Huge materia mentioned theres so many i could mention
whirlwind maze section in temple of the ancients
Whenever I did a synergy with Red and Barrett I’d yell AVALANCHE TIME!!!!!!!
Tifa: Can ya help with that, Cloud?
Cloud: ....... my cells aren't degrading for nothing.
10:04 NOW THAT’S THE JENOVA I REMEMBER!!
Hey! In the video the squad has Cloud, Red XIII and Cait but when I play it the team has Cloud, Tifa and Cait. Why?
i always wondered if jenova and lavos are the same species. They literaly do the same thing.
Honestly would've been okay with just another form of Jenova instead of Sephiroth this time
I get that it's a JRPG and final boss rushes are just part of the deal, but we definitely did not need an hour's worth of boss fights that didn't match the narrative tone.
I'm trying to reserve judgment until Part 3 comes out and hopefully ties everything together, but man does it feel like this scene was done a disservice in a vacuum. I certainly wouldn't call it bad, but it doesn't carry near the amount of weight as the original, and it could have.
@@Rvckus The original had the context of the ending, you're literally watching a 'to be continued' and complaining it feels incomplete.
Imagine how epic Jonova Absolute is going to be.
Keep in mind the glitches. Tifa sees blood and no blood too. This is the 2nd timeline. The original in 97 is the first. That’s why Aerith didn’t get impaled like the original
9:16 "hang back" *gets dragged of screen*
The way it transitions to Aerith's theme to remind you of what you just lost 😭
Love she finally gets her glowing eyes once she’s PISSED
the only thing i missed from the original was the individual character reactions to aerith but with the way the fight went it would have been hard to do 😭
Right?! Because when Yuffie broke down and ran off, I was broken.
Here’s to hoping that Jenova in the final ascend will have this much insane moves by all characters as they slay her in the Part 3
The Berserk influence on Final Fantasy VII is REALLY evident here. Jenova has been taking fasion tips from the Slug Count.
This boss fight is peak, Sephiroth boss fight on the other hand is bullshit
10:01 HOLY SHIT when the main theme start.
So I'm guessing Yuffie wont betray the group like she did in the OG. Since if she did it wouldn't feel right.
I'm willing to bet some Glenn Lodbrok as some version of Jenova is the boss we face in Wutai.
@@MPCuse that does make sense actually
Maybe she will
Becuase of war
This time it has "real war" in her homeland

The music ❤❤❤
The design of Jenova kinda reminds me a lot of Astel from Elden Ring. Mostly the head and colours and being an Eldritch Alien entity.
14:08 what in the Advent Children is going on here? So baddass one of my favorite parts of the game.
the cope so crazy he imagined aerith lived
yea lol, bro got imaginary waifu
Yknow, the whispers being there kind of shows how in the original game Cloud was being forced to try and kill Aerith. And the fact they tried keeping us away showed that we could prevent it but chose not to.
I think the whispers was the original idea but not possible for the technology of the 90s
the second phase has nice music, but i don't know how i feel about the transition from the first part. seems way too energetic after aerith just died, yknow?
I like it, even though it is strange
@@mangaflipnoteanimations6159 it’s a very good song! i’m just not sure how well it fits the scene right now
Its a call back to the original fight in FF7, Aerith's theme doesn't stop playing when you fight Jenova Life.
I guess they tried keeping it PG 16 instead of making it an +18 Scene like in the OG.
It could have been more subtle.
if you listen to the full song, there is a phase where Jenova's theme EATS Aerith's theme slowly
@@gozogo1233 Wow have to check that out!
I’m not gonna lie. When I saw the sword was clean I was absolutely positively giddy with excitement.
Then I saw the flash.
This one hurt a lot.
