Hi Angus, Thank you for your kind comment. Maki loves editing and we are truly enjoying our Leopard 45 catamaran. Very, very solid well built boat and well laid out. When we decided to do this adventure with our children, finding the "right" boat took a while. Safety and comfort were at the top of our list. The Leopard 45 checks all the boxes for us and is a fantastic sailing boat. There are many days we are zipping right along, engines off and nothing but the sound of the water flying behind us. Thank you for joining the journey and stay safe!
That front cockpit seems perfect for sailing with kids, they have no reason to walk along the edge when under sail even to see dolphins! Beautiful video and I enjoyed the music choices. Must be nice to finally be able to start to move around and perfect timing with the hurricane season coming to Florida soon. Look forward to your next video. It is nice seeing you learning with the captain, although I have sailed a lot on sailing dinghies I have not sailed yachts yet, and my goal is to move onto one and live and cruise. So seeing you all just starting out is cool!
Thanks Sallyjane! Maki is working really hard to edit together some great videos......so glad you're enjoying them :-). We love our Leopard 45 and yes having the front cockpit to walk through is definitely way safer than any of us walking the outer decks during passage. It's super safe especially for the boys to be able to walk through. Both Maki and I have been sailing for over 4 years on and off but we decided to have Captain Richard with us for an extended period since this is the first boat we've ever actually owned and we are now doing longer coastal, offshore and night sailing. He's an incredible teacher and mentor to have with us....the best! Stay focused on your goal and before you know it, you'll be sailing on your very own sailboat! All the best and stay safe! ~Andy
Hi. First your story telling is getting better and better every video. This one was really your best so far. Thank you. One thought from someone who grew up on my parents boat, is clear you're still nervous for the boys (I have twin boys a little younger and I totally get it!). But in fair seas, on a cat the chances of them falling overboard is incredibly low. It's not easy but they need to learn to move about the boat underway, to trust their instincts and muscle memory. Pretty soon they probably won't be in life jackets in the day time in normal seas. The other thing was for me that my dad taught me to be his crew alongside him when he was learning. We had a set time for knot practice, I worked the sails, could steer, and understood the basics of what everything did (admittedly the boats were simpler then). When I was ten he slipped a disk on passage of the Scottish coast. I brought the boat in. I tacked, put in a reef, took in sails and docked (with coast guard standing by). I'd never sailed solo before but he'd always involved me from day one. Watching the Mother ship adrift channel I see that they take the same approach and i maybe you are too but it's not coming across in the videos. My very humble recommendation for what it is worth, is to start educating your boys to be crewmen and not just passengers.
Hi Adam, thank you for your great comment! We really appreciate it. First, it's great to hear of your childhood boating experience with your family and how amazing for you to not only have the knowledge but the bravery to bring your family boat into port when your dad hurt himself. You are absolutely right about making the kids on board a part of the crew and we do need to show much more of this on our videos. We actually have included the boys from day one and they absolutely love having the chance to help with the lines, steering, setting the course or waypoints etc etc. Last year we enrolled our boys into a sailing program so they already had a foundation of knowledge and a little experience when they stepped on board OliLuki. Future videos you'll see more of this as we've filmed them practicing their knots, prepping for departure or docking and so on. For life vests......our boys are very inquisitive and want to be a part of everything which translates into them moving around the boat sometimes faster than I'd like. Until they get older, the rule on our boat is that when the boat is moving and they want to be outside, they must have their vests on. In addition to some of the great features of the Spinlock brand of vests, we bought these vests for them because they are very comfortable to wear all day long and they usually forget they even have them on. Anyway thank you so much for your comment and for joining our adventure! All the best to you and your family and stay safe! ~Andy
I'm actually surprised by this comment, in part. I'm binging all the videos to get caught up overnight. I have been clearly under the impression that these boys very much take part in every aspect of this new life. I have not once assumed that they don't based on the few times I have seen them learning knots, cooking, manning the helm, etc. I just never expected it to be filmed every time just as I wouldn't expect to see them doing school work in every video (but, we know they are homeschooled). That being said, I do agree they need a little more freedom to move about and gain their sea legs. And, I do get mom and dad being a little over protective about that just starting out. I see these boys doing twice as much on their boat at such a young age than most other channels allow their older kids to do. One last thing.... me personally, anytime they are outside the cockpit, it's never "over protective" for them to wear their vests while underway, in any sea state 🤷♂️
Thank you Jeremy! We're just trying to put videos out that give some good information and are perhaps a bit entertaining :-). Thanks for joining our adventure! Stay safe!
Hi Paul! thanks for joining our adventure! We'd love to come to Southhampton if our travels bring us that way. The boys talk about the Titanic often so coming to see the SeaCity Museum and the interactive model of the Titanic would be amazing! ~Andy
Wow great video. My grand daughter and I are headed to Charleston SC on July 2 for the holidays. Beautiful scenery down there. It takes us about 6 hrs to drive from our home and just the drive is beautiful. Be safe in SC have lots of COVID there but a beautiful place to visit. We loved the new video and look forward to the next one. Try not to take so long 🤣. Safe travels and we send prayers to your family on your upcoming adventures.
Hi Debbie, thank you for your kind comment and safe travels to you and your granddaughter to Charleston! The Carolina's have been beautiful to see but we are as always very, very careful due to the virus. It is far from being over and there's no reason to take unnecessary risks. Most of our travels are not on land during this time and we're fortunate to be able to quarantine ourselves aboard OliLuki as we travel the U.S. East coast. We are trying to put videos out more often and have lots more to share and show so stay tuned! All the best and stay safe! ~Andy
I wonder if you took notice of the fender covers on Bella Vita... cutting legs from sweatpants work wonderfully, as one end is already perfect with elastic, and the other end is easily sown 😉

Man what a gorgeous Cat! But be honest - you were looking at that big blue beast of a ship and you though "Upgrade?" Lol! I couldn't image the fuel cost alone to run it. I enjoyed watching how you guys rigged the Code 0 - very informative - thanks! :)
Hi Robert! Good to hear from you and yes we too are loving our catamaran. Regarding Sir Richard Branson's former mega yacht Bella Vita, I bet that one mega fender costs as much as our boat! Fuel costs is off the charts, at least our charts but just imagine the cost of simply paying for docking for the months that it's been sitting there in quarantine? At 250 feet in length.......Mama Mia! Anyway, thanks for watching.......more videos to come!
Hi Sean.....we're still laughing at that moment on the video and reading your comment made us laugh again. We might just have to make an OliLuki t-shirt with this saying on it! Thanks for joining our adventure and stay safe! Best, ~Andy
Hi guys! All is well thanks. We're waiting on a few buddy boats to catch up with us and then will be continuing North to the Chesapeake. We are loving our L45 and before you know it you'll be on yours too! Stay safe and all the best from the crew of OliLuki :-)
You working them boys to hard? Sleeping during the cruise. Beautiful, those boys and your family for that matter are going to have a time of your lives.
Thanks! The world is a beautiful place and part of this journey is certainly to open our boys eyes to new places, cultures, foods, religions etc. There are days where they help with the lines, casting off, practicing knots etc and they pass out from the sound of the water as we sail. It's peaceful to watch see them resting and warms our hearts when we see them learn or experience something new. Thanks for joining the journey! Stay safe! ~Andy
Hi Emily, yes, looking through the windows was not the right thing, but knowing the yacht was in quarantine and nobody was there, we just couldn't help it...to be a little naughty but mostly we were just too excited and mesmerized of the sheer size and beauty of that mega ship. No bathroom windows, thank goodness! Thanks for watching our channel! Be safe, ~Maki
im catching up on your vids here, very cool. was wondering how fishing licensing works when traveling via boat to/through other states or when your in the bahamas etc???
Bella Vita is crazy beautiful and enormous! Sir Richard Branson does it right that's for sure. We filmed a little more of this gorgeous vessel which we'll share in the next video. Thanks for joining our adventure and please stay safe!
The watch is the Garmin Fenix 5. It's a great and rugged watch.....also waterproof I believe to 100m. If you plan to be out on your own boat, you may want to look at the Quatix 5 as you can view and control some features of the Garmin electronics on a boat such as the autopilot etc. I try to use as many features of the watch as possible but it's loaded with many many features. I love it! Thanks for joining our adventure and stay safe! ~Andy
I enjoy watching your channel vidio , looking foward for your next Vidio ! , are you guys planning to go around the world ? , wish you guys all the best ! , stay safe and happy sailing ! , hello from Indonesia .
Hello Ismail from Indonesia! Thanks for joining the adventure! Given the global pandemic, many plans need flexibility. We will probably not circumnavigate the planet, however we do plan to sail the Caribbean, cross the Atlantic and sail the Mediterranean. At some point we'll transit the Panama Canal and head up the Pacific Coast to see other beautiful places :-). Thank you again for your message and for joining the journey with us. All the best and stay safe! Andy
Hi Richard, we love our Code 0 and find it easy to use. At the moment it's in the locker so I can't get to it however it is from the factory and I believe it is Ullman. We tested it when Captain Richard was with us and found we could use it from 60 to 140 degree wind angles!
Hey Andy, one other question. YOu have the Highfield 340 with a 25hp Yamaha. The recommended engine for that boat is a 20Hp. How do you think it would perform with the 20? Do you feel that you need the 25 or is a little bit of an overkill? Thx.
Ok, I am blasting through your videos and enjoying them. I do dream of doing just this and have the funds set aside to do so. I intend to finish the ASA course, but finding a captain like you did for a week or so of hands-on experience with your boat is brilliant. How did you find "O-Captain" and what did this service cost (range is fine)?
Hi Thomas! Captain Richard is fantastic and even though we had sailed both mono haul and Catamarans in the past, once we bought our own boat we really wanted a professional captain aboard to help us get comfortable with our specific boat and of course our we learned a lot more from him as well. We have found that the going rates are roughly between $350 -$500 daily + travel expenses. A good investment all around we believe. IM me on Facebook at Andy Temesvary and I’ll be glad to get you in contact with Richard if you like. ~Andy
You mentioned you left Florida after 4 months, so did you have to pay Florida taxes since you had the 90 day permit or were you able to extend it? Really enjoying your videos. Super helpful. Thanks.
Yes the permit can be extended. It’s important to save your receipts once you’re on your way to show your exit from the state. Thanks for joining our journey! More to come 😎
Great Channel! have a great sailing time! BTW where did you get this hat from One UP... will love to get one with the Spanish and US flags. Really Cool

That said, we'd love to put out videos more often and are working on doing that so stay tuned! :-). Thank you for spending a part of your day with us and hope you enjoy future videos! Sailing SV OliLuki hey hey! All is good, I can tell she’s working really hard on the edits! Great job! Like the transition, drone footage is alway a plus especially the end scenes. Add in some more wides of the boat...send a GoPro up on the sail to look done you’ll get some sick perspectives from above. Keep up the hard work, the vids keep getting better. Less is more, like how she’s Moving the pace along with some time lapse or speed footage. Don’t get married to a shot cut and go, keep to a core and move on. All in all it’s getting better. Oh one more thing when you see ur next school of sharks, launch the drone that would be some sick footage! B out for now! Talk soon
We love the channel and great choice going with the Leopard 45, its our dream boat...even more so with the new lounge. As someone whom has spent over 2 decades working with megayatchs, filming the inside like that is a big nono and i recommend not doing that again...it actually goes for any boat as its someone's personal / private space you know.
Hi Patrick, we couldn't agree with you more. We never ever film inside anyone's boat however it was hard to not take a little peek this one time as this specific vessel was right next to us. Actually it was in extended quarantine due to the fact that it came in from the Bahamas. I spoke with a crew member on the mid level deck and he invited us to look around at the boat from the dock level. Anyway thank you for your comment....we do agree with you. The L45....we love it. It's a perfect boat for our family of four (plenty of room) and the new lounge version is beautiful! Thanks for joining the adventure and hope you enjoy future videos. Stay safe! ~Andy

Hi David, I am sorry about it. TH-cam automatically puts ads based on the length of the video and few other factors but working on to reduce the amount of them. Stay safe!
It's not polite looking into someone else's boat windows and definitely never film through their windows. Do you do this in a rich neighborhood on land? No. You're very very new to sailing so the learning curve is steep.
Hi KandiSueTheBlue, You are absolutely correct and as I mentioned to Patrick's comment above, ......we never ever film inside anyone's boat however it was hard to not take a little peek this one time as this specific vessel was right next to us. Actually it was in extended quarantine due to the fact that it came in from the Bahamas. I spoke with a crew member on the mid level deck and he invited us to look around at the boat from the dock level. @@sailingsvoliluki6938Hi Andy thanks for your reply. At 08:46 you can see your wife clearly videoing through the windows of the megayacht so to say you NEVER film inside just isn't true. Also, just be aware that the crew don't own the yacht and unless the Captain gives permission, the crew are no better than a housekeeper giving permission to the neighbours to check out your assets. This is just a small side issue as we enjoy your videos and look forward to your adventure with your wife and enthusiastic sons. Sailing is a wonderful platform to learn about weather, people, technical and mechanical issues and many other things. Keep up the great work.🌬⛵😎🌴

Stay safe! ~Andy
*Looks into kitchen window*
Is this legal? 😆😆
Yep, but wouldn't recommend with looking into bathroom window 😃 that might spark some problems 💁😃
You guys are coming along! Looked up Bella Vita (beautiful life), she's gorgeous & was formerly owned by Sir Richard Branson.
Bella Vita is crazy beautiful and enormous! Sir Richard Branson does it right that's for sure. We filmed a little more of this gorgeous vessel which we'll share in the next video. Thanks for joining our adventure and please stay safe!
@@sailingsvoliluki6938 wonderful & thanks for taking us along your journey! All the best to you and the crew!
you make very good video 👍😉👌😍😍😍
Thank you Lavi and thanks for joining our adventure! Stay safe! Andy and the crew
Loving that watch... does anyone know what kind of watch he has?🤔
The watch is the Garmin Fenix 5.
Andy
The dolphins follow the fish and the sharks 🦈 follow the dolphins 🐬 looking for fish 🐟!
Ah the Circle of Life :-). Dolphins are absolutely amazing and we will never get tired of seeing those guys EVER!
Andy, How do you like your Code 0. Is it made by Ullman and was it the factory sail? Thanks.
Hi Richard, we love our Code 0 and find it easy to use. At the moment it's in the locker so I can't get to it however it is from the factory and I believe it is Ullman. We tested it when Captain Richard was with us and found we could use it from 60 to 140 degree wind angles!
@@sailingsvoliluki6938 Thanks Andy. Appreciate the response.
Really Cool
Hi Hugo! I got the hat from the OneUp booth at the Miami Boat Show. Here's a link to their site if you'd like to reach out to them. oneupsaves.com/shop/. Thanks for joining our adventure! Stay safe! ~Andy
@@sailingsvoliluki6938 Thanks Andy for the link. Hope you are having a blast. be safe out there and enjoy the sailing adventure.
Spinner sharks, that’s how they feed. Watch closely and you can see him spinning when he jumps.
It was AWESOME to see these guys flying out of the water! Thanks for enlightening us on the type of shark it was. Very, very cool. Thanks for joining our adventure!
can u do weekly vlogs please! thanks
Maki does consulting work for her spa clients which adds to her plate along with homeschooling the boys and of course all the duties of the boat. That said, we'd love to put out videos more often and are working on doing that so stay tuned! :-). Thank you for spending a part of your day with us and hope you enjoy future videos! Stay safe! ~Andy
That sounds like a full time job... the weekly vlogs, that is.
🙌🏼🙌🏼
What up bro! Maki always wants to know what you think of the videos and is glad to see you're watching :-)). Hugs to you all! ~Andy and the crew
Stay safe! ~Andy
🙏❤❤
Do you all have plans to or consider sailing across the Atlantic?
Hi Antonette, yes we definitely have plans to sail across the Atlantic to the Mediterranean!
Hello, please, take subtítulos in spanish.
Hola, por favor, Coloca los subtítulos en español.
Seria espectacular!!
Part 2..... so no link to Part 1? c'mon. And no end screens?
Hi Richard, this is Maki and yes I need to figure out how to link our videos but for now, here's the link for you. Cheers and thanks for joining our journey! th-cam.com/video/JJxaUxV9hbc/w-d-xo.html

Awesome Richard......thanks! Really appreciate it! I'll pass that on to Maki! ~Andy
Far too many ads.
Anyway, thank you for joining our adventure and hope you enjoy future videos.....no more peeking inside other boats, promise :-). Stay safe! ~Andy and the crew
