11:51 fun little history lesson: Bounty Killer was the one that brought Vybz Kartel into the dancehall scene through his group called The Alliance. Vybz Kartel would then leave because of differences and started his own group, The Gaza Empire. This started The Alliance vs Gaza diss songs. Another member of the alliance (Mavado) would form another group called Gully and started dissing Vybz Kartel in defense of The Alliance. This sparked the Gully vs Gaza war which was “ended” when the government and prime minster intervened because the musical clash had divided the entire country, and lots of in street violence was happening. The Gaza vs gully war never really ended and as more members were added to each group the new members would diss each other. It came full circle when Vybz Kartel’s new protege, Tommy Lee Sparta, dissed Bounty killer (his musical grandfather in a sense 😂) in 2012 and even Popcaan clashing vs Mavado (Gully leader ) and alkaline (another artist who side with the gully and has his own group called Vendetta). Tommy Lee Sparta would come to the defense of Popcaan and released a couple diss records as well. Gaza v Gully started around 2006/7 and we’re in 2024 and dancehall is still primarily divided because of the two. 🐐🐐

He’s appealing his 35 year sentence in the UK court right now (england still has top rank in the judicial system of Jamaica) because there was some suspicious activity going on during his trial. High chance he might be freed. In terms of sheer hits, lyrics and cultural impact there’s none like him. He even cowrote songs for Beyoncé and Rihanna, is very respected by busts rhymes and Jay z wanted him on one of his albums. The man is almost mythical at this point 🐐😂
