WoW, I wished I was 30 years younger I would have done the same thing! Funny thing is I own a property in Canada(where I live…) and have a 120 year old cabin on it. But I am too old now to do anything with it, so I just enjoy taking my dogs out there and enjoy nature!☺️🌲🌾🍁 What you 2 have accomplished in one year is astonishing….Just beautiful around there with all the mountains. Bravo! je suis ravi de constater que nous sommes de plus en plus nombreux à avoir adopter ce mode de vie simple et sain. J'ai moi même restauré une ancienne ferme avec ma compagne, donc je sais que c'est loin d'être toujours une partie de plaisir, et que ça demande beaucoup d'efforts et de sacrifices. Il faut notamment accepter de manquer parfois de confort pendant un temps. Mais ça en vaux tellement la peine! Après ce n'est plus que du bonheur! ça va faire 6 ans que nous avons finit les gros œuvres, et maintenant nous aménageons tranquillement sans nous presser, celons nos envie et nos humeurs. Nous essayons pleins de choses différentes, surtout pour notre potager, et nous sommes contents du résultats. c'est la belle vie! Bon courage à vous.

At some point you’ll have to replace those trees to avoid soil erosion and to create a regenerative system! If you’re getting lorries that deliver, then some timber bought would have meant not sacrificing 40 yr old trees! In ten years there wont be a tree on that visible landscape if you continue to cut trees at the current rate. Other than that, great work!
I am sure Diego or Joana will respond, but i can say they do have plans to replace trees they cut with fruit trees.. it is the wrong time now so will wait next year to plant more.. they have planted a few like cherry tree already.. they do have plans to develop the land but that is a big and takers time.
Hello British Ants, thank you for your comment, as Fabian has already said, we have cut down those trees because they were badly planted (they were on top of an old wall and covered a lot of the sun) now we have a much sunnier plot in which we want to plant more than 20 autochthonous and fruit trees. We are in many projects and right now we have not been able to start but little by little you will see how our land becomes a healthy edible forest, greetings and thank you very much for your comment!🍀
There are more plants then trees that can prevent soil-erosion, grass for example. And in these kind of climates trees grows as weeds, so don´t sweat it ;) People are to fussy now a days about trees, like they are the only plants out there.

You’ve done so much with your farm. Spain is so beautiful. I have noticed that it seems as though there is a ring within Spain that is unpopulated. The coast is populated and the center is populated. But the space around the center yet in from the coast remains rural and a great investment for young families. The earth isn’t making more land. Especially with beautiful land with 4 seasons. Don't worry about the tree mongers. Anyone that criticizes you for using the resources available to you in a responsible way has never lived outside their apartment or city dwelling. You have made incredible progress in a year and should be commended on that and your ultimate goal. I pray you do well and continue your successes!
Hey don’t apologize, that’s your place I assume, so you do what makes you happy and what you know is right. Trees that are too close to foundations or walls are a no no in my book. An arborist told me that when you look at the canopy of a mature tree, the diameter that is that the root system is the same diameter underneath the ground. Rats can push walls and foundations in or over. So if you want to plant that species of tree, you at least know how far away from the house or a wall it should go. I would say the same rule applies for removing trees. At any rate if you have a concern over a tree you really like, you might consultant an arborist as to how far the root system might ultimately reach. That is if it’s based on the canopy, or if it may be smaller. This also will help promote healthy trees.

Thank you so much for the incredible support!❤️ Many of you dont like that we cut "so many" trees, we want you to know that they were wrong place planted, on top of a hundred-year-old stone wall and others were covering a lot of sun for our garden, but we are planting many fruit trees and we have the project of making a small food forest in the future. Don't worry about the tree mongers. Anyone that criticizes you for using the resources available to you in a responsible way has never lived outside their apartment or city dwelling. You have made incredible progress in a year and should be commended on that and your ultimate goal. I pray you do well and continue your successes!
Hey don’t apologize, that’s your place I assume, so you do what makes you happy and what you know is right. Trees that are too close to foundations or walls are a no no in my book. An arborist told me that when you look at the canopy of a mature tree, the diameter that is that the root system is the same diameter underneath the ground. Rats can push walls and foundations in or over. So if you want to plant that species of tree, you at least know how far away from the house or a wall it should go. I would say the same rule applies for removing trees. At any rate if you have a concern over a tree you really like, you might consultant an arborist as to how far the root system might ultimately reach. That is if it’s based on the canopy, or if it may be smaller. This also will help promote healthy trees.

Primero de todo, enhorabuena por lo mucho que habéis conseguido en tan poco tiempo y todo hecho por vosotros mismos! Hoy en día, es excepcional! Lo del huerto y las gallinas ya lo tengo (Vivo en Huesca provincia) pero mi objetivo es mudarme al norte de la provincia, cerca de las montañas. Tener un paisaje así cuando uno despierta por las mañanas es el auténtico lujo de estar vivo.
Al contrario de lo que he leído por aquí, yo acabo de jubilarme y busco un proyecto así porque no hay edad para empezar un proyecto de vida en la naturaleza. Un capítulo emocionante y lleno de alegría por lo mucho que te reporta, dentro del respeto y la armonía. De hecho sigo varios youtubers (Shawn James y su "My self reliance" es uno de mis favoritos) y me habéis maravillado!
