Although I'm a huge TD06 fan myself and just finished building a "recreation" of a now discontinued greddy turbo kit that I drooled over for so many years to say it's the only turbo that matters when it comes to cars is a bit of bold statement there are some legendary turbos to come out of Japan over the years & many records were broken/set on some of these turbos of legend that put them right up there with the TD06. 1st off let's not forget arguably just as awesome & famous from the house of trust/greddy the top rpm monster T88, & you really can't mention high power single turbo without mentioning every JDM fanboys favorite sounding turbo the HKS T51R spl/kai & although these days everyone goes single back in the days of twin turbo supremacy the HKS 3042's were the best of the best with just about every rh9 GTR running a pair & as far as twins go the a pair of Apexi rx6's were also a lethal setup back in the day & on some pretty killer builds over the years. Granted I too absolutely love the TD06 just not the only turbo that matters in my opinion
A turbo I think more people should try on a SR is the Greddy Td05h-18g 8cm2. Just finishing up my first season with this turbo on my s14 silvia and its blown me away. I had the wheel upgraded to an aftermarket billet one (turbo was used and sent it out for inspection and upgrades). The response it what blows me away by this turbo, 340lbft by 4000rpm at 19psi. The response is absolutely mind blowing, feels more responsive then a t28. I can dig my little old stock bottom end SR out of situations that I thought only a v8 could before.
Can someone explain to me how a wastegate can have any effect at all on sound? Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the wastegate just a valve that opens when a certain amount of boost is obtained ? Wouldn’t the exhaust note be produced by the manifold runner design (ie. runner length, pipe diameter, material..etc) ? Does the Trust wastegate open slower? Is it a larger diameter opening ? Is it the length of the screamer pipe? Believe me, I’m the first in line when it comes to sacrificing performance in favor of cool old school parts (I’d also love a trust wastegate on a TD06 setup for the period correctness), but I just don’t see the correlation between exhaust sound and choice of wastegate. Pipe diameters - sure Manifold runner design - yes Muffler/resonators - absolutely But wastegate ? How?
The wastegate has a diaphragm inside. Plenty of things change with different brand wastegate. The size of the diaphragm itself, travel inside the wastegate casing, material and speed at which it flutters. I wouldn’t really say it’s an exhaust note that changes. It’s the sound coming out of the wastegate that does. Google the trust wastegate diaphragm and then Google a tial. You can see the difference there. All those little things change the sound. Trust just has THAT (classic) sound when paired with the top mount manifold. Another clear example is Al from animal style. Real trust TD06, trust top Mount manifold, tial gate. Totally different sound 🎶
I love the way my greddy td06-20g performs on my sil80, perfect for the way I drive. SR20 chainsaw till I die!
Yeap!

Yeap our friend out here uses one as well 👏🏽
Keep the videos rolling!
Plenty more coming 👍🏽
Damn woulda loved to see the k24 with a OG 25g on it. Whats the turbine housing size on the 25g 8cm or 10cm?
I forget but it will probably still happen 😊

Ryota keeps his turbo specs on his fenders. I think he said he liked to run TD-06 25g at the time.
Biggerrrrr
He's got the power.@@ThrashRacing
What do u guys think about the td06 20rx?
Heard some good and heard some bad. Haven’t used one myself so can’t say!
I'm looking to do a td06 set up on my rb20det swapped s14. Are you able to get one to me? I'm in the US.
