I mean as an european we had; Luigi's Mansion, Rogue Squadron 2 and Melee all essentially at launch. Sunshine and Eternal Darkness within the year, as well as Metroid Prime, Wind Waker and Mario Kart year 2. And you can add on multiplatform games such as TPS, SSX, PSO, Nightfire. I really don't remember ever thinking there was a lack of games. Though in my friend circles back then there wasn't really much "gaming talk". We talked about about games a lot for sure, but that was majority based on games that we were already playing. There wasn't really any meta-talk about the industry so there wasn't really any opportunity to crave something we didn't have. Buying games was very much going to the game store, finding a cool game and buying/begging/wishing for it. Maybe on the rare occasion you had played a game at a friends house that you wanted for yourself.
-2 for the gamecube take it was my first console and that shit had hella games, luigi mansion, sonic adventure 2, sunshine, billy hatcher, animal crossing, wind waker, bro you can go all day
No GTA though. The gamecube really was the dweeb console for babies. Sure there was RE4 and Prince of Persia, but the PS2 had those as well so there was no advantage.
