After sitting in my cart for almost a month, my soaping supplies will be here monday! I decided on olive oil, coconut oil, castor base and then chose some naturall additives for colorant. Nettle leaf, turmeric, activated charcoal, and then a few other dried ingredients to add. I'm waiting to start diving into fragrance oils just yet. But I'm so excited!! And I have you and a small number other soap makers for helping encourage me to do it with your videos :) thank you
I use index cards for all of my loaves of soap. I write notes on new fragrance oils or essential oils and colors and I keep them. They are a must. I go to the dollar tree and one pack has lasted me since I started soaping.
Couldn't agree more about your desired soap bar size determining the mold sizes. The formulas you did a few videos ago to figure out mold volume have been a great help for me. Thanks!
hello! I've been making soap for 3 years, and learned a ton from this video! I can't wait to make soap in the morning! question- what do you use to line your molds? Thank you!
I use cheap commercial trash bags. They're the light duty clear kind that you can get in bulk at Sam's club, Costco, etc if you're in the US. I can get multiple liners out of each bag.
Yep! Plywood shelves for the speed rack. The liner for the mold is clear trash can liners from sam's club. Light duty 30 gallon (I think). I can get 8 mold liners from each bag.
I'm trying to remember. The price wasn't too bad over all. I think it was $175 with shipping back then. I couldn't find one to my specs in country for that price at all at that point...lol
They're each one of a kind. So, if you shoot me an email, I can send you a pic of the display with the current offerings on it. unclejonssoap@gmail.com
Hey, man! New subscriber here, checking out your videos. I like your style, tbh, and I hope to learn your ways. One question: "I don't do 4 to 6 weeks"... How long do you do? Greetings from Chile! Stay safe.
Found your soaps and this channel by listening to your stories, Love the stories!
You called me old again! 😆 Rolodex... what about Dewey decimal system? Card catalogs? 😂
I love Darkfluff!!
I loved the twang the cutter made when you cut the Dead Sea mud soap.

**And remember everybody!!! Try out Uncle Jon's wares. They are FANTASTIC!!!!!**
**!!!Best shaving soap in my collection!!!**
his so right, I hate the "standard molds". Once I make enough I get some custom made for the bar I want.
I hope that Megan is feeling better. This is a really interesting description of how to make soap molds.
all your measurements was done in Freedom Fractions.
You would make a great teacher.

That makes sense as we buy buy what is visually appealing
I like listening to you, I learn so much.
Thanks!

@@unclejonssoap good to hear. I think a train wreck everywhere. Here in Canada too!!! Lol.
What is the 'wrapper' you are using inside the mold? Also, did you put plywood as the shelving on those speed racks? Thanks.

I just wanna know who's genius idea it was to use the guitar tuning pegs in that device.
Not sure but the design has been around for quite a few years.
A soaper who plays the guitar.
Also we buy within a price range
UncleJon you can make cutter and selling the cutter since you use to work with wood and make more money
If I only had time. But.. I will be making wooden molds this winter to sell. Probably start with 2 sizes and go from there.
Checked out the cutter site you mentioned. Prices are definitely good.
What's the over under on shipping

You had a video of the new shop and on it you showed beard combs. Just wondering how much they are. I didn't see them in your online store
Were they a display with about 12 different designed combs? Or, was it a display with standard peach wood combs that were all the same?

Hi Iam a beginner please tell me how can i calculate lye (water & Caustic soda) ratio with oil
Hey, man! New subscriber here, checking out your videos. I like your style, tbh, and I hope to learn your ways. One question: "I don't do 4 to 6 weeks"... How long do you do?
Greetings from Chile! Stay safe.
Most times I can wrap soaps in less than a week.
How long do you cure for?
Do you make liquid soap and laundry soap
Unfortunately it's too labor intensive to make most liquid soaps and they aren't any better. So we stick with powdered laundry soap and bar soaps. 😁
Awesome! Where did you get your baker's rack? Also, do you sell the 21" moulds?
The baker's rack has a link in the description. The 21" molds are being tested now. Hope to have them up for sale next week. 😁
@@unclejonssoap - Thanks bro!
Did you find the link?
@@unclejonssoap - Yes, it is there. Much appreciated!
Awesome! Just making sure I didn't forget to add the link 🤣
I just like to ask how long you wait for the soap to dry as my soap always melt as soon as start to use on the sink
It depends. Sometimes a week, sometimes a month. Natural soaps will disso6faster than store bought. Make sure to keep it dry between uses.
@@unclejonssoap 🙏 thanks 😊
Do you ever experience soap ash?
Sometimes I get a little on top since I don't cover them. But it's no biggie. All part of being handmade.
Any recommendations on the type of oils i should use to make a soap for someone that has eczema?
Honestly, most of them will work fine. Just set your supercar to around 10% and maybe add a little shea butter to the recipe at about 5%.
First keep up the good work
