I followed the tip Dave gave in the broadcast channel just now for my first listen. For someone who doesn't know the language, you're responding to a sound and a feeling only. By the time I got to the climax ,still not knowing what the meaning was, I'm emotionally locked in. I did the relisten with the subtitles and now I'm undone. Without making this a public therapy session many times crying is all we have. This hasn't dropped in the US on streaming yet, Going to camp here, cry and listen in my post Christmas food coma 😢.
Just got up and a few hours late here Teri. Listened to it a few times and for me who understand the language I didn't noticed my hands were shaking. This is a tribute song to (I'm guessing) the anxieties and tribulations of our old folks as shown in the video, to just cry in the dark. The note progressions for a ballad like this is very complex in my opinion.
The beauty here, or at least how it touched me was that bridge every single one of us has to cross from a time when we were nurtured and cared for ,to when you're out there trying to fly alone. I have found it happens twice. After losing my Parents within the last 4 years, who even after I was married and had children were still an integral force in my life, their absence is felt in a different way, but the tears are the same. As a child- young adult, it all started the day when my mom passed away, it created a gap in every fiber of my existence up to the ones I once called as "family". I followed the tip Dave gave in the broadcast channel just now for my first listen. For someone who doesn't know the language, you're responding to a sound and a feeling only. By the time I got to the climax ,still not knowing what the meaning was, I'm emotionally locked in. I did the relisten with the subtitles and now I'm undone. Without making this a public therapy session many times crying is all we have. This hasn't dropped in the US on streaming yet, Going to camp here, cry and listen in my post Christmas food coma 😢.
Just got up and a few hours late here Teri. Listened to it a few times and for me who understand the language I didn't noticed my hands were shaking. This is a tribute song to (I'm guessing) the anxieties and tribulations of our old folks as shown in the video, to just cry in the dark. The note progressions for a ballad like this is very complex in my opinion.
The beauty here, or at least how it touched me was that bridge every single one of us has to cross from a time when we were nurtured and cared for ,to when you're out there trying to fly alone. I have found it happens twice. After losing my Parents within the last 4 years, who even after I was married and had children were still an integral force in my life, their absence is felt in a different way, but the tears are the same. This is a beautiful song. Morissette is a MASTER storyteller with a voice of absolute gold!

I can relate to this song. My mama passed away last year, and it made me felt so down that I almost ended my life. She was my only source of strength, the only person I trusted, and my only bestfriend. I still have my siblings but we’re not that close as we didn’t live in one roof growing up even up to now. I’ve never felt this lonely in my entire life than before😢. It just felt so heavy inside. It’s like I’m living but dead.

As a child- young adult, it all started the day when my mom passed away, it created a gap in every fiber of my existence up to the ones I once called as "family". I was left alone in a big house, I can relate to the message of this song, especially that I was forced to be an adult instead of spending my younger days as a youth, afar from much of these responsibilities and realities. Nevertheless, as the song says "ihilak lang na", truly, a deep understanding of one's journey towards adulthood, depicting the turmoil one has to face to become more matured, and prepared for a more advanced challenge in life.
