Thank you for your how to videos. My amplifier doesn’t have any screws at the back to connect the ground wire. All the screws are at the top. It wouldn’t look good if I screw the ground wire to the top chassis. Any suggestions?
When you have a chance, please write in to contactus@rel.net with the model of amplifier that you are using in this system, and the model of REL subwoofer, and our team will be happy to provide High Level connection advice specific to your application.
Are you changing the method of connecting the black wire? I think it was supposed to connect to one of the negative amp out put as mentioned in your original video.
Thank you for reaching out. We have changed our standard High Level connection instructions, so that the same instructions can be used with any model of amplifier regardless of it's output stage design (Class A/B, Class D, etc.). If you know for absolute certain that the negative speaker output terminals on your amplifier reference to ground then you can connect the black wire to one of these terminals, but otherwise we recommend connecting the black wire to a chassis screw or a designated ground screw if one is available.
Thank you for reaching out. In systems which feature monoblock amplifiers, it is necessary to use a stereo pair of subwoofers in order to connect to both amplifiers using the High Level input. Connecting a single subwoofer High Level to two monoblocks at the same time can result in damage to the subwoofer and/or the amplifiers. If it is only possible to run a single subwoofer in your system at this time, then we recommend connecting it to your preamp using the Low Level input.
@@camper234 Thanks. What if connecting both monoblocks to a speaker selector (one chasis) and the subwoofer to the speaker posts of the selector (Red to Right +, Yellow to Left + and Black to a screw of the selector chasis. Could this damage the SW or the amps? Thanks!
Hello. I have active speakers with subout RCA. Theres no amp. Do I connect them to REL via RCA to Neutrik Speakon (high level) cable or RCA to RCA (low level input)?
Thank you for reaching out. Since you are using active speakers, it will be best to connect using a standard RCA-to-RCA cable from the subwoofer output jack on the speaker to the Low Level input on the REL subwoofer. The Low Level input is designed to receive a line level signal, such as from this type of sub-out, while the High Level input is designed to receive a speaker-level signal from a power amplifier.
@@RELAcoustics Thank you. One more question. Theres information on the internet that suggests to connect active speakers to subwoofer through LFE to let the crossover be done on the active speaker side. REL suggests to connect it to the low level input port. What would be the correct way?
@@Gragon There isn't an inherently correct or incorrect way, and the ideal choice will depend on your active speakers and your own personal preference. If you wish to use the Crossover filter within the REL to tune it's output to blend with the main loudspeakers, then connecting to the Low Level input will be the best choice. If you wish to use the filtering options (if any) within your active speakers, and to bypass the REL's Crossover filter, then the .1/LFE input will be the best choice. We recommend connecting to the Low Level input, though the best option will be to try both and see whichever sounds best to you and in your room.
I have a Rel S/510 and a Rotel RA-1592 amplifier and when connecting the High Level to the REL, all I hear is a buzz, no music. It is as if there is a short circuit. I connect the red wire to the right + terminal, yellow to the left + terminal, black to ground. What could be the reason that the connection is not working? Through the RCA cable to the LFE it works normally.

Thank you for reaching out. If your amplifier or preamp (or any other device in your system) does not have a designated ground thumb screw, then any chassis screw on the amplifier will be a good place for connecting the black High Level wire to.
