    Way too much oil being used. One drop at each lubrication point. Also, you must clean everything first. Poor video.

    Lots of oil I think was being used. Where does it go?? You should have shown step by step of where to oil.

    I applaud the enthusiastic olier. But, with oil, a little goes a long way. Maybe just a tad less in most of the spots covered here. :)

      You should clean it with a rag before applying oil. But don't use water (You can use the same lubricant oil to help you clean because it loosens the dirt).

    I would really just clean out the fluff and dirt before greasing and oiling any machine. The grime will clog your machine, no matter how much oil you give it. I am sure that you drain the oil from your car engine every 15000 or 20 000km before you add new oil? Treat your machine with the same consideration. Blow out the fluff regularly, clean your bobbin casing and feeder feet at least with every 3rd full bobbin completed. It takes a few minutes but will add years to your machine's life. Also, with so much oil as given in the video, you should let your machine run for a few minutes, then let it stand for a day or two so that all the oil can drain. Then clean it thoroughly before putting any fabric under the needle.

    • @sewway
      @sewway  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The flywheel is attached to a main (top) shaft, which has many connections to other joints. Maybe you just need to oil all the parts of your sewing machine and it will work easily.

      @reneperlich7970 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If your machine is electronic, you should not oil it, but take it to a dealer before doing anything. You can oil mechanical machines, though. Just not as liberally as what's shown in the video

      Thanks, that's the right question. For regular lubrication, only use special oil is used for oiling sewing machine.
      lubrication of many mechanism and joints is required in exceptional cases when the machine is very old.
      I use a special graphite grease to lubricate the gears.
