Amazing story. Great interview. He’s a national treasure and shows with hard work you can become wealthy
Aside from criticisms of Meriton apartments people still buy them more than ever. He built the World Tower too a Sydney landmark
    A great Australian.

For all those people out there complaining about mass migration to Australia this man is the reason. He has lobbied governments for decades to increase migration so he can sell apartments and make him self a healthy profit.

If guys like Harry T and others *DIDN'T* build (about 80,000 for Harry) units for people to live in, where would people live? Surely you don't believe that the *Government* or *poor* individuals will provide the millions of units in the country? Without *rich* people who on earth employs all the *poor* people? IMHO Harry T has provided a great service to Australians, far more than most. The taxes Harry & his related companies and their ten thousand-odd employees, plus thousands of sub contractors, contribute hundreds of millions of dollars in tax every year! Harry's contribution to society puts most people to shame by comparison.

As someone who started with nothing and has worked their way up in the Sydney property investing market. Your perspective is wrong mate. The reason for his higher price is because his apartments have the highest reliability of quality and longevity. The track record of Meriton speaks for itself. In a city where there is too many developers popping up with no track record Meriton you can rely on that the building won’t have endless defects and problems. His strata rates ensure that maintenance is upheld. Low strata isn’t a good thing…. I used the Chinese buying everything to my advantage. I got my first property off a Chinese owner who sold their Meriton apartment well below market value out of desperation to sell in a certain time frame due to a situation in China. It’s easy to sit and complain but you gotta use the circumstances to your advantage mate. It’s the only way to get ahead. Complaining and having a negative mindset will only just keep yah further behind the rest.

In comparison if you were handed $250K (a reasonable middle class inheritance) and then turned it into $90M you would have achieved a similar expansion - which almost no one does, so stop whinging and go 362X your money even if its $5k into $1.8M by the time you die because you have no excuse... a % gain is a % gain. @ He came to this country with few bucks in his pocket but did he really? No one talks about what really happened behind the curtains.
His father established a store that traded wool, silk and leather. In 1937, during the Second Sino-Japanese War, the Imperial Japanese Army invaded the city. The foreign concessions were initially left untouched, but following the invasion of Pearl Harbor in 1941 the British and American residents were placed into internment camps. The Russian residents subsequently "seized the opportunity to take over trade in and out of China". Triguboff's father opened four more stores and acquired 20 apartments, as well as a summer residence in Beidaihe. He helped distribute the textiles that had been seized by the Japanese to buyers in northern China. In 1946, after the war's end, he was convicted of collaboration with the Japanese for allegedly selling leather goods and scrap metal to the Japanese government. However, the following year he was acquitted on appeal to the Supreme Court of the Republic of China.[11]
In 1946, Triguboff's family obtained landing permission for Australia, after being refused visas to Canada and the United States. He and his brother were sent to Sydney in 1948, but the Australian government attempted to exclude them from the country over concerns about their father's war-time activities. Osmond Charles Fuhrman, the Australian consul in Shanghai at the time, estimated that their father had a net worth of up to US$4 million (equivalent to $51,000,000 in 2023).[11] Triguboff was ultimately allowed into the country and was educated at the Scots College, Sydney

He has the PM, Premier and all ministers in his pocket. The current RBA evidently is not bending to his will yet though. Everything he does is to add a buck to his pile for himself and if Australia was burning he'd pour petrol on it if he could make another buck.

Harry likes Dutton? His political party that has destroyed TAFE causing a crisis with available tradesmen and effects housing costs? His party was responsible for not looking forward and destroying Labor’s NBN plan? Australia has slipped dramatically compared to the rest of the world with internet speeds and this reduces companies wanting to do business here if most of us have slow & unreliable internet.
His party who prefers lower migration yet Harry wants more migration?
Strange. Look, we don’t want high-rise everywhere. In such a vast country, why not build 5 bedroom apartments that are spacious and have 4 or 5 car parking spots? We all drive like it or not and getting cars parked off our streets makes like easier and less congested.
These little 2 bedroom apartments aren’t fit for families and 3 bedrooms isn’t enough anymore with home offices required, etc. Move with the times Harry.
High strata fees are another concern.
I didn’t realize his father gave him a lot of money (value of a lower north shore Sydney home) to start his business. I wish I was provided with such an opportunity in my 20s.

Having a property empire doesn't make a person interesting. Even I can tell you how to build a property empire:
Step 1: Have shit tons of money.
Step 2: Buy large amounts of property in a single area to cause an artificial scarcity.
Step 3: Take advantage of unfair tax concession laws to put most of the Cost & Risk of the investment onto the tax payer.
Step 4: Hold property until artificial scarcity causes price to soar.
Step 5: Sell property for massive profit.
For building a rental empire it's much the same, just without the selling part.

I really hate hearing negative stuff about Jewish people. You people making the comments are just full of hate. He made his money from hard work, but it’s so easy for someone to say he’s corrupt and that’s the reason why he’s rich. I’ve stayed in his apartments and they are very good quality. What has Palestine got to do with Harry? Is it because he’s a Jew? These negative comments are just about jealousy. I can’t remember the last time a Jew was accused or was arrested for being a terrorist. If you people are not happy with Jews living in Australia, maybe you should go back to where you came from. Because Jews have been here for a very long time.
