Thank you so much for this information!! Things have advanced and changed since I was a young Mom some 36 years ago, and I want to be supportive of my children and have knowledge of the things science has learned since my kids were babies!! This was very helpful and I hope you continue to educate us grandparents as it's been a long time since we were learned in all things babies!! Bless you for sharing your knowledge!!

I must disagree on your thoughts of wine and coffee being okay to drink while nursing. They are both stimulants that transfer to baby through breast milk. Sorry you lost me there.

These new teachers or whomever are not normal to what we experienced 20 years ago to the country. They are trying to erase our heritage and traditions in family matters. Fear based and illogical at times. I mean we are experienced and have knowledge all about it. Babies all want to feel secure. All babies lose weight they gain in back in 2 sometimes 3 weeks for premier. They double their weight in 4-6 mons.

I don't think it's that educators, like myself are "not normal" to what you experienced but rather that through research different recommendations have been made. Safety recommendations are always changing and I aim to share the most current info with parents (and grandparents) to be.

I recommend you read up on this further to better understand what amount of what mom consumes is transferred to breastmilk. Kellymom.com is a great resource!
