This tip works great. I got my needle threader on clearance for $2, but when I followed directions it seemed like I'd wasted $2. I tried the tip and all worked fine. I did find out I can just use a long pin to scoop the loop. I have pins more accessible than tweezers. Also, sometimes when sewing buttons on, I like to thread two strands in the needle and knot 4 strands together. It is faster attaching the button. Anyway the needle threader managed to loop two strands just like it would have done with one strand. Thanks for posting the tip.

Anywhere this thing is sold, this video needs to be on loop! I had mine boxed for return out of frustration. This will save singer a lot of returns and negative reviews.

I am surprised that the Singer brand doesn’t fix this product - I’ve always found their merchandise to be of good quality. In fact, my old Fashion Mate Singer sewing machine from circa 1967 just recently pooped out, sadly for good. But recently I’ve been reading that the Singer product line just isn’t what it once was. Maybe your needle threader faulty instructions is a victim of the times. But to the rescue you came with the correct operating instructions - good job, Dennis!

Thanks Nancy. The old black Singers are like cast iron pans. They're like heirlooms to hand down from generation to generation. I have two - 31-15 (1942) and 15- (1955). Cheap machines from overseas force companies like Singer to cut corners to compete. -Dennis

Thanks for this Dennis! I find myself needing more light & my reading glasses for fine tasks such as needle threading. This tool looks like it would be handy if used with your improved technique!

Thanks Mea. I really like this device. I used to struggle with threading a needle. Now it is easy. Thanks for the comment. -Dennis

I have almost the same problems…and I bought a cheap china version and it was crap. So I thought a more expensive version might work better. But there are still problems I see.
At least your threader is not flimsy.
But regardless, I cannot find a threader that will go through a very short narrow eye -the type for sewing on tiny seed beads etc. I have used many other versions too.
I have to use a magnifying glass glass, a lot of patience and a steady hand. By the way, I’m 71 so I know exactly what you’re talking about.

Only small eyed needles will work in it. My doll making needles have a slightly larger eye and they won't fit into the darn thing 🙄
