I think the birds are called white-eyes in English, which in Japanese is written as メジロ and pronounced as mejiro. A quick search suggested that this particular species might be the warbling white-eye, but I had never seen them before, so maybe someone else has better information. I love these strolls through beautiful and fascinating areas in Japan, too, even though I haven't visited - yet!

I stayed in Tokyo International Centre in HATAGAYA ,I travelled To KEIO UNVERSITY through SINJUKU staion by train and visited several times to Shinjuku Gyoen. VERY BEAUTIFUL SENARY. THANK YOU in 1989 .
I used to go here at least once or twice a week since my apartment was just nearby. Thank you for taking me back again to a time long gone by and for sharing these terrific clip showcasing the ephemeral and beautiful cherry blossoms.
Awww... I missed Shinjuku so much!! This is the FIRST park ever that I've visited in Tokyo in 2017! And my Airbnb was just opposite this park back then. Lots of memories.
Hello!!!! aside from the attractions like Disney, are the parks, temples and restaurants closing as well in Japan?? We are going there in 2 days hopefully a lot are still open
So I assume this is not from this year? As everything from the Japan blossom report says nothing in the country is open yet, and won't be closer to the end of March.
We Japan have over 200 kinds cherry trees. This video shows Kan-zakura which is early blooming type. Japan Sakura blossoms report says only " Somei-Yoshino" open period, but " Somei-Yoshino" is just one of types of cherry trees for us.
