5/ 30 what you use Castro lol I can believe you forgot you have done a lot on your car ! Congratulations maybe make video on the best things that works on mini ?
I’m having a similar problem , but I’m already running a high grade of oil 10w40 to be specific , but once the engine gets hot I get low pressure not sure what to do from here
The two easiest things I would do first is use an OBDIi to monitor the engine temperature and see if can read the actual oil pressure; and just go ahead and change out the oil pressure sensor, it may have drifted.
I didn’t change my pcv umm ugg i’m worried about using this oil it’s Castro and I was gonna try 505 oil Treatment although the owners manual says do not ever use oil treatment I do not have any leaks thankfully so far so good I have had no problems out of my car until that thermostat although on the NSD a book it talks about recalls on second generation well actually convertibles they did Recall r56
Changing the PcV on my car was easy n cheap; i figured at 93/94,ooo miles, why not. Just last season i swapped out the thermostat as it was going bad.. Aaaaaaannnd just last week the O2sensor went bad.
I’m thinking of adding a electric oil booster pump I’ve fitted a oil cooler as when the oil temp reaches 100c I’ve no pressure. So I’m thing of running the oil pump to the oil cooler line . What do you think?
Try a heavier oil first. Don’t know how many miles on your Mini, but mine was over 100k when I was getting low oil pressure at engine temp. I think over time all the gaps in the engine just got wider - wear and maybe not so great of an engine design and manufacturing
@@mcmcminicooper hi yes I used a much thicker oil grade it worked ok then I added some chromemoly. I think if I could lower the running temp to about 80c that might help it. It’s only when the oil reaches 100c there’s nothing. Maybe a thermo coupling to operate the thermostat set to 80c ?
@@kilogolfbravo9567 I another one of my videos where I changed out the thermostat assembly someone had a comment. They wondered why Mini had such high thermostat opening temps because another car, I think another car sold in Europe uses the exact same thermostat but has a lower opening temp. I could only think of that they made the high opening temp in the US is because of emissions. If you want the thermostat to open sooner, rig the heater element in the thermostat assembly to come on manually. This will force the thermostat to open I believe. When Spring comes around I’m think of adding a resistor to my temperature sensor in the thermostat assembly to trick the computer
Hi there , I have a 2009 mini cooper. After 35-40 minutes drives , when idle the oil light blinks every 5-10 seconds . If I touch the gas to get the rpm up even at 900, it stops. Does anyone have any idea on why this happens ?
It’s because your oil pressure has dropped to zero. Try a slightly heavier oil. An OBD2 wireless reader to see what your engine temp is doing and other things may tell you what’s going on
Thank you Bought it the Company said that clean front valves I haven’t done on that blast.. I seen SCoTTY he like it but he hates just about every car except Toyota! Lol BMW/ mini ..🙄😂 he is quite clever with many things just curious sometimes over and clean can cause leak! Don’t want that ! 🤞so far no oil leak! 🤞🤞🤞‼️
My oil pressure light turn out to be failed oil pressure sensor. It failed after 4 days and 1500km! Oil pressure now measured and new (more expensive) sensor installaatio.
Glad to see your oil pressure gain with thicker oil.
Dang you have done a lot to you mini ! Tons of gadgets! You video definitely great ! Thanks you videos ! ✔️👍
You done a lot I don’t know why I don’t get ur videos I almost forgot I stumbled across them accidentally again?
Dang you done lot 👍thanks for videos
5W 30 Castro as words recommend it for mine and that’s what I’ve been using ? It’s seems ok Probably not

Have you tried Lq Moly?
If your car uses 5w30 why didnt you switch to 10w40 or 15w40 ? 0w40 has less restrictance than 5w30 essentially making oil pressure worse ?
Scotty has a video on that stuff
I seen that dose it work !
When have you changed you PCV valve cover changed?
I haven’t changed my valve cover or my PVC?
I didn’t change my pcv umm ugg i’m worried about using this oil it’s Castro and I was gonna try 505 oil Treatment although the owners manual says do not ever use oil treatment I do not have any leaks thankfully so far so good I have had no problems out of my car until that thermostat although on the NSD a book it talks about recalls on second generation well actually convertibles they did Recall r56

Have you replace your thermostat housing?
Yes, I replaced my cooling thermostat. It was an interesting experience.
Did the 505 stuff work?

I wonder if it’s like a At205
Ur gonna let all those gauges drive you nuts
😂 lol

Did 505 work ?
I think so. It had a strong cleaner smell. Probably got some of the gunk out.

Hello, do your cooper consume oil?
I don’t lose oil. Car does run warmer than my other cars
Based on idea from this video i changed my 5w30 to 5w40....absolutely made No difference. Low oil pressure light keeps coming.
I saw another video where the oil filter was collapsing because they used a cheap oil filter.

@@mcmcminicooperdon't use cheap oil ! Ever I don't or cheap gas
If you change your oil every 5 thousand miles you will never need any of these additives or flushes...
You are probably right but I bought this car used so was not sure of the maintenance history.
If your car run from 194 to 230 it's very normal
