being in tears and repeating the “skrrt” sent meeee😭
So in Korean. There are gendered phrases when a younger person is addressing an older person. Unnie is reserved for a younger female to an older female. So with the girl saying that. She affirmed her gender as well as calling her beautiful. Which is why it was Italicized. It was super super sweet.
They had a similar thing going on with Ali and Sang-woo in the previous season. Ali used the phrase meaning older brother for Sang-woo and much like Young-mi, they both died calling for friends using these honorics.
Thanos is above and away the most entertaining addition to this season. TOP really nails the role and makes him so easy to love despising him.
Unfortunately, yeah. I hated that dude but the season wouldn’t have been as interesting without him lol. Props to the actor!
I still hated his stupid drug necklace though. Why was he the only one allowed to keep a personal item
@@LucianDevine Because they knew him being high would cause him to do crazy things to the other players
@@LucianDevine he wasnt. they let the older woman keep a personal item too. theyre letting players have dangerous items/substances to make the game more interesting for the people betting.
@@eternalXxXmemorys They let multiple women keep things to tie their hair up. She's not unique in that. Hers is just unique in that it has the blade concealed within, not that I think we've seen it come up, even during the nighttime brawl?
Mingle is probably my favorite game yet. How it seems so cheery and unsettling, and then abrupt chaos. They tracked the movement very well in the game too. Masterfully done in my small opinion.
Same I also like Mingle the most out of all the games they've played so far, I can only imagine how good the game after that will be as it'll definitely be memorable and exciting.
38:10 On the contrary, I think the writer/showrunner had a much clearer direction than last season because we are not just dealing with just the Squid games, we are now dealing with a set of characters plus the ideological battle between Gi-Hun and the Frontman.
This season was basically Squid Game Season 2 - Part I.
exactly
I haven’t seen a lot of people suggest this so far, but I think the B and C plots might be connected (police guy looking for island, and organ harvesting). I think the captain could be chartering the organs, still wish we got a bit more of that in this season though.
@thatoneguywithayoutubechannel No. But there's a reason why Takeshi's castle is still famous. The hook is what made the story unique and likeable.
Exactly, I hope the creator gets a well deserved vacation :D
For the spinning top game that 001 fails twice (around 13:00 here): Yes, he does it intentionally. The fails are with his right arm, he wins it first try with his left.
Yep. It's pretty subtle storytelling, but they set up that he's actually left-handed in the first season (he shoots his brother using his left hand) and then with a couple things early in this one, like when he goes to vote, he does so with his left, and when he's still the Frontman, he drinks his whiskey with his left. It's easy to miss if you're not really looking for it.
I think the reason in real life is because the frontman’s actor is actually left handed, and when they did the scene he actually got it first try, so they decided to make him do it with his right hand at first to get the scene right. I like this idea though as it provides a good in-universe explanation for this discrepancy.
Isn’t the actor right-handed though? I remember him talking about it in an interview
@thechonkbrothers2267 you have it backwards. The actor is right handed.
He did it on purpose to stall them for a bit
12:32 The Frontman's group was the very last, so, if they lost, the guards would have killed everybody else in the room (his group and the other last one) and he could have just walked away without witnesses
Almost. He would have faked getting shot, just in case the other team won. Then be carried off.
@@ThatSamoanGuy There's no need to fake it. You just kill the other 9 people and have him put the front man mask on. There's no twist here since we already know he's the front man and he's in the game. If the other team won, and his team lost, then they have a reason to fake shoot him.
@@ThatSamoanGuy I think they would've shot the other team regardless. None of the other players would've known. Thanos' friend after the game said something along the lines of "too many people survived" when the last team walked in, meaning they had no way of knowing.
28:30 not forkie!!!😂 also, Gi-Hun was concerned about the fork because you don't need a fork to eat Gimbap. It's finger food. So it was placed intentionally to start a fight
Ya, they want the players to use the forks like prison shivs to kill each other
100%
6:05 south korea has mandatory military service for all males. They have to serve for at least 2 years so you can expect a lot of experienced people in there
They revealed their class numbers too. Daeho for sure had a bad experience during his service. He's got PTSD.
20:05 Min-su picking scissors, is the most savage thing I've seen in any show. That was brutal
Overrated scene
@miguelsanchez307 nah, it was brutal
Definitely a brutal betrayal and in the next episode she gets killed off by that prick. She deserved better she could have at least made it to season 3
@@Pickyfan-wr2eg brutally overrated
i feel like a crucial moment most people missed was the part where dae-ho was talking about his experience in the marine. he said that his dad practically forced him to join and you can tell there was some sort of trauma there. that was why he backed down at the end. it kinda irks me when reactors just call dae-ho a coward without imagining his perspective. he clearly didnt want to be a marine and just wanted to live with his family.
thank yooooou, some reactors really don't have any media literacy, it pisses me off 😭
I think he has PTSD
The director didn't originally divide seasons 2 and 3. He wanted to end everything with season 2, which has many episodes, and get some peace of mind. (He lost a lot of teeth due to stress during season 1). However, Netflix ordered that based on the data, it split into seasons 2 and 3. I think Netflix's choice was commercially correct. However, since the director originally didn't intend to split it into half, season 2 ended at the beginning of the second act.
yeah the mom and son story really got to me too :/ I think Gi-Hun's original plan was foiled by them discovering the tracker, he was going to have the mercenary group take out the guards to get to the Front Man. He was sort of winging it once he realized that. I'm surprised you didn't talk more about Gi-hun being willing to sacrifice people to get to the Front Man and In-ho's reaction to it.
I think I hadn't seen a single reactor commenting about it, I'm sure that will be important for the final season, that's why they kept him alive
The frontman’s definitely trying to make sure Gi-Hun learns a lesson of some kind. Potentially trying to train him? 🤔
Yeah I think many forget the original plan. Once the tracker was gone and the rescue crew didn’t come he had to wing it, which combined with desperation to end the games made him come up with a not so great plan on the fly
Honestly, I like this season so much better 😭
Mingle Game:
Song: 😍
Situation: 💀
Other players: 😰
Thanos:🕺
it do be like dat doe
I live for Cameron's editing captions.
I like this format of reaction .just finishing it off in two videos instead of posting one video per week.
Also, a couple things about In-ho. In 6 legs, he first uses his off-hand to try to spin the top. He only succeeds at it once he switches to his normal hand, since he's actually a left. We even see him use the gun with his left hand in season 2. Also in 6 legs, In-Ho and Gi-Hun's team goes last. Presumably, they were picked to go last so that the workers could shoot the other players while sparing In-Ho, and none of the other players would've known because none of the other players were still in the room watching at that point. So as far as In-Ho goes, he seems to have everything planned out already, all just to mess with Gi-Hun. Even the "special game" was them giving Gi-Hun and the others hope that they could escape when in actuality, there is no escape.
13:48 i think ppl forget the front man has already played through and won one game, and has watched and enjoyed probably watching a lot of the other games, he's no better than the rest of gambling addicts inside the game, his reaction there is probably what you would see at a casino when someone is on a slot machine
"He's a good fighter too!! - Yeah no shit, before he took over the games he was a Ninja called Storm Shadow 😉😁
Yes, Nat knows GI Joe 🙄
Why do I truly just accept this as canon😂
@@ChrisXIllustratesXGamingAND who is asking you?
Yeah, because everyone’s seen that show and know he’s a good fighter.
COBRA !!!!!!!! Spending billions on "snake" themed robots, plains, clothes, and bases.
As I understand it, military service is compulsory in So. Korea. So it’s less about “Did you serve?”, than “Which branch did you serve in?”. Assuming equal ranks among the discharged, the leader would be determined by age with the oldest being considered most senior.
The reason Jung-bae asks Dae-ho which Class he was in is cuz the senior is who served earlier, not the age.
@ Doesn’t everyone start service at the same age?
@Kur0y4m4 The obligation starts at the same age, but there are ways to postpone it. Like if you get into a university, the service is automatically postponed while you are taking the semester, unless you take a break and sign in a date you want to go. So most students go to military after their freshmen year.
The older guy we all want to die reminds me of the guy we all wanted to die in train to busan but lasted until practically the end!! 😂
I see where you're coming from, and I don't like this guy, but that man in Train to Busan was evil!
They do have similar vibes haha
@@NatalieGoldReacts Delete your clickbait video instead of not allowing comments lol
@balabanasireti grow up
Same, i was reminded of that guy too.
Dae-Ho has PTSD. As someone else said, South Korea has mandatory 2 years minimum in the Military for men. So he for sure has PTSD. It’s not his fault he couldn’t get the ammo back.
😢
Why would two years of military service during peacetime cause PTSD? Owning a chicken shop seems more stressful.
@@DularrAccording to what group he was part of, there was a shooting incident in 2011. A Marine started open firing on his team then tried to end it with a grenade
@@Dularrdon't talk without knowing, you ignorant
@kimekim12345 generally it's an extended period of stress. While it's possible they could suffer from a traumatic event.
'jungbae doesnt seem like the type to be in the marines' remember in South Korea there is forced conscription for all able bodied men, so they have to serve at least 1.5 years in the army. I believe they have a level of choice of which sector they go into, but yeah safe to assume pretty much all male characters within squid game will have served in the military! that's also why all the people who volunteer to go against the guards are good with guns
My theory, since I don't fully understand 11's intentions or why she'd stop doing head shots aside from just purely being self preservation... is that she saw a way out for the dad. Since we can't tell where on his body he was shot, possibly she is the one who shot him, gave a non-fatal wound and is plotting a way to get him out with out being... "de-organized".
Also the more I watch the more it feels like Inho purposely keeping Jung-bae alive in mingle was for the sole reason so that he could shoot him in front of Gi-hun. Like everything he does is to further beat Gi-hun's spirit down into the ground.
If the father is "dead" then 011 could maybe get him out by either hiding in the coffins or maybe dressing him up in a guard uniform. Or the father is just dead
Keep in mind Nat, South Korea has one of the highest number of religious cults among the economically developed countries. This show did a really good job of representing Korea's modern social issues with displaying the cult behavior, transgender, illegal immigrant worker, etc etc.
So all korean men must serve the korean military for at least like 18 months or 2 years. As I understand, most going in can choose what branch of military they want to serve in, so having a lot of marines would probably be a little more common than you think. The only conditions that can get you either delayed or ineligible to serve would be if you arent a natural born korean citizen, if you are of foreign descent, or if you are physically or mentally unable. My dad was born and raised in korea, but we're korean-chinese, so not only did they exclude him and the rest of my family from service as a foreigner, they also deemed him physically unfit to serve because me and my dad have literally the flattest feet on earth. cant even lie to you, they look like the grinch's feet. which is crazy to think because my dad was the best basketball player in his city. but lol the korean military didn't want him.
"Gi-hun just sucks at everything" lmao my immediate reaction was "Wow.. rude"
Dude literally won the game and still gets shit on lol
Not inaccurate though.
He was saved by Ali in red light green light. He cheated in marbles but the old man let him win anyway. His friend killed himself in the final. The only game he won by himself entirely was the umbrella cookie but tbf that was harder than anything else so he deserves alot of credit for that
@@IAmThatBit-- I would argue that Gi-hun has won the final game regardless of Sang-woo killing himself. In the end he had the upper hand and knew he would leave the game alive. Either with Sang-woo or with the money. Having empathy does not make him a loser. Otherwise I agree (also he in fact did not suck in the second red light green light, he managed to save about 164 people)
I also felt the final of the season so unsatisfying until i learned they filmed the entire thing together and had to split the season into two because of netflix. it makes me hope that the two seasons together will make it a lot more satisfying pace wise since that was the original plan and junho's side will finally weight on the story. unfortunately they have the curse of being so successful so of course netflix would want to milk it by splitting the show and making people wait so they can keep subscribing..
12:33
They actually purposely made it so In-ho's team goes last, because if they lost they would just kill everyone in the room except him, so there'd be no evidence of him surviving.
I feel like the only hole in your theory is that the Frontman respects the game first and foremost. With that in mind he had no idea if the other team would win their games, which would leave 5 witnesses. I really think In-ho was respecting the games and was willing to die if he lost. His face is really desperate when Gi-hun has to do his game and almost fails at the very end.
@@jonahdube9033 That could be true, but to be fair, he probably knew his team is more than capable to do all the games, but he wanted to stay cautious just in case. Even if they DID lose, In-ho would probably just fake his death. If the other team were to survive, he could just pretend like he was shot ontop of the sound of gunshots.
16:42 the two of them really have an amazing bond outside of this series too, they found it really hard to film some scenes together because of their bond
Nat you're a life saviour
Now i know what I'm watching while eating
Se-Mi, number 380, her death was one that really erked me. She was likeable and she seemed like she had more to offer. Being betrayed in the mingle game and being killed by that a******..... she deserved better. She could have at least made it to season 3
You mentioned Thanos being a bully yet not being able to fight. The thing about bullies is they typically can’t fight which is why they prey on smaller, weaker people who also can’t fight and why any time someone who can fight stands up to them the bully gets humiliated and humbled
But Thanos can fight, he handled himself pretty well against MG Coin
@@Kenny-ep2nf Because MG Coin is smaller and weaker and a crypto bro
“Beginning to find some ethical concerns with squid game” too me OUT 😂😂😂😂😂
The frontman lost the spinning top game on purpose. You can tell because he is using his right hand, even tho he is left handed.
Min-Su quickly became my most loathed character in this series in the finale.
I liked in s2 standoff 001 vs 456 - It has been done so good, like L vs Light from DeathNote. Love it.
21:23 I couldn’t help but notice how Gi-hun was looking at the mother and son, because he misses his mother and knows he'll never see her again.
the guttural screaming “NO” is prob my fave thing😂
I have a theory about the front man. Since he is also a previous winner, I think he wants to test himself against Seong Gi-hun (456). Seeing Gi-hun reenter the games might have sparked something in himself to go back in & compete again to see if it was a fluke for them both their first time around.
damn that's an interesting theory
Your excitement for the second game was SO contagious! And you got me bawling over the mum/son duo as well. Always love your reactions! Cannot wait for the next season :o
It bugs me that people think the son abandoned his mother because he turned towards the door. He was literally being dragged into the room. He had no choice but to turn around or walk headfirst into the door. For all his faults, he clearly loved his mother and was trying to protect her. The only thing he did wrong was vote to keep playing. I think that’s why he was crying. People keep saying he didn’t fight hard enough. How hard is enough?
Agreed.
Yep. It's just crazy how people think it would be even possible to fight 2 men dragging you, get free, get the mom, get another person, get inside a room... Both of them would die
I think there's some truth to both statements. At the end, he does turn around and resign himself to his fate. Which makes perfect sense. He's going to die if he doesn't go in the room. Obviously, not his fault, but I think you COULD interpret that at the very least, he did just accept in a moment that his mom was basically dead
@@Blue777Dragon I do think he accepted the fact that his mother was probably going to die since she was making no move to get to safety on her own. Being reluctantly resigned to that sounds better than what I hear people say which is “Wtf! He abandoned his mother! He’s trash!” And stuff like that with people just tearing him apart for being all but kidnapped. That, I think is unfair. Also, the idea that he was not fighting enough when he was clearly struggling. I think people are reluctant to believe that a grown man can be overpowered even by two bigger men, and should be able to punch his way free or something no matter that. But if someone is bigger and stronger than you, that’s it. I also think the speed in which everything happened made it hard to react. It seems longer because of the slow mo but it was all of ten of fifteen seconds.
Love this show. Love Gi-Hun's rebellion arc. Inho is such an interesting character.
@@Cthulhu013 worst arc ever
I hated it, if only because it felt like an impossible battle. Gi-Hun had no idea how many people he'd be up against when he made his plan, but even if he did, he's outmanned, outgunned, doesn't know the area as well as his opponent, and is basically being observed at all times. Even destroying the cameras doesn't prevent them from knowing what area of the building you are in. It was destined for failure from the start, and not just because In-Ho was working against them, and AND not just because this felt more like a mid-season finale than a season finale.
Yeah Gi-Hun's plan was great but he couldn't have known that Young-Il was a mole
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS OMG
Yo same
As someone who have watch alot of Battle Royal like shows and movies, this show actually does a great job with S2, i was expecting worse, cos as you say, the shock value is not the same, and usualy they just make the MC win neatly when they come back, so Gi-hun failing his rebelion is kinda refreshing, will be interessting to see how it ends in S3.

All men in South Korea have to go to the military.
@ i know
Certainly
The purpose of these games from the moment Gi Hun joins, is to break his willpower. Personally I think the games were going to be relatively standard until Gi Hun said "put me in" which is why Red Light Green Light is the same but subsequent games are changed in addition to them changing the voting process. It definitely feels like it was designed to break his faith in humanity enticing more people to vote to stay
WELCOME BACK MY FRIENDS......................... SKRRT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe I’m messed up but when player 120 smacked the shit out of the fanatic woman I cracked up laughing
when you realize that captain park was talking about catching squids instead of saying fish in episode 1 was a hint that he was working for the front man
see idc about these characters. season 1 episode 6 will have me in tears no matter what, but this? pleh. only the main character and 333 i care for and neither dying would make me cry
A little detail most overlook when In-Oh is launching the spinning top thing. He was failing on purpose, you can tell by the fact that he was "missing" when using his right hand, but he launched it perfectly when switching to his left. He also used his right to shoot his brother if I recall correctly. Small but probably important detail.
Another possibility with Dae-ho is that he was a Marine during his mandatory service (he did give his class number when they met), maybe even good in training, but never saw actual conflict until now, and it wasn't what he imagined.
I think No-eul shoulder shot the dad from the park. I expect we'll see that storyline play out more in Season 3.
Love the content! I’ve been wacthing you for some time now and i think you should definitely watch Severance! Season 2 is currently airing weekly on Fridays snd its so good. One if the best 1st seasons of television.
20:28 This moment is tense AF! She started out unlikeable, but then you grew to love her. Now she's standing alone , only to be saved when you thought for sure she was doomed!
How was mom unlikeable?
@@daurydavis3983 The brief bit where she was hating on the trans woman. It was understandable, because she was a traditional older woman, but then even she came around. Even in this video she didn't go as far as to say she was beautiful, but to even say she was "okay looking" was a pretty big compliment from an older traditional person.
I felt making people wear patches to show what they voted is a stroke of genius by the writer because it instantly creat us vs them mentality among the participants
Yup to cause more hostility amongst the players
Definitely preferred Season 1 and this season did feel like a Part 1, but it was still enjoyable. I pretty much agree with your take on the Season as a whole. Looking forward to Season 3!

Hell yeah
One thing to remember is that here in South Korea, it is mandatory for all men past a certain age to join the military. So, it is more common to find people with general gun sense, and ex-military. :)
A thought I just had was about how the supporting cast of characters seem so much goofier this season…but I wonder if it seems that way because Gi-hun is so serious. He was way goofier last season, and now because he’s so stoic everyone else just seems so much sillier.
Thank you, Natalie!!
Natalie, that _Stay Golden_ word light on the wall is fire! As a California resident, how does it not trigger you? ❤🔥🤨

Unfortunately she's at a point where she can take these types of liberties with the amount of subscribers she has, if she had just started her channel I'm sure we would have gotten an edited video for each individual episode
The way everyone was rooting for each other in the second game is wild
So, when In-Ho is spinning the top, you notice he is throwing with his right hand on every failed attempt and throws with his left on the success. He is clearly trying to burn time so Gi-hun has to do it first try, or they all die. Plus, being the final group to go, everyone else would be shot and killed, and they could leave In-Ho alive, and no one would know. This show is insane.
This is totally off topic from the video but I just wanted to throw it out there that if you’re considering more MCU content, Loki season 2, Echo and Agatha all along are all worth your attention and all relatively short so it wouldn’t take you long to get through them! Would love to see you react to them!

first season they gave the players a knife when they wanted them to kill each other ... they never give a utensil with the food ... its a tie vote and they will " give them time to think" and also give them a metal fork with sushi ....... " is it something about the food" .................... lol
Kimbap is not sushi
I think Gi-hun’s plans were actually against his ethos, and that ties into why in-ho chose to play the games with them. Gi-hun choosing to try to stop the game from the inside is him gambling again, in the “special game” he even knowingly sacrificed some of the people on the X side to do his whole ambush scenario. In-ho is there to remind Gi-hun that no matter what he tries to do, even when In-ho is “wholeheartedly” supporting him, the fact that the players are still there is proof that it is very difficult convince a whole group of people to choose morale over a glimmer of hope, a chance of redemption. In-ho was kinda right about Gi-hun being no better than the players. Because he could’ve helped poor people with the money he won and maybe finally build a relationship with his daughter, but he chose to spend 2 years betting all odds obsessing over the games. I think this season is more of a critique on the illusion of choice, and how the terrible conditions we live in affect relationships. Simply put, he got lost in the sauce 🤷
I really want you to watch the wild robot, that movie will 100% make u cry

@Natalie Gold In the flashbacks, Frontman holds his drink and gun in his left hand, making him left hand dominant. For his first three throws on the top he was actually trying, but handicapping himself by using his offhand(the right). Once it come down to it though, he switched to his dominant(left) hand again.

333 went for the head.
1:47 I was under the impression that every Korean male had to server in the military
They do
They were in the same branch
This season was originally supposed to be around 10 episodes, but Netflix forced the people making the show to split the season apart. So we could've gotten a more fulfilling and complete story with this season, but money-grubbing Netflix wanted to stretch it out and milk this cash cow.
I have a feeling that's what was going on this season finale feels more like a mid-season break
Shut up bro
actually it was not 10 but more i think 15 episodes but they split that
20:10 he did that because she essentially said he didn't have what it takes to make it.
Gi Hun expected his strike team to follow his tracker.
Also the seasons were filmed together so it is part One and part Two rather than really separate seasons.
All Korean men must do 2 years of mandatory service in the military after turning 18, so it makes sense that there's a lot of people who were in the marines at the games, or in the military in general.
The frontman is left-handed, and he did the dradle with his right
Don’t think of it as a season finale but rather a mid season break
