    For what it’s worth, these Predator engines are fantastic! The Baja Doodle Bug doesn’t get the riding attention it once did and will sit for months at a time in our shed at our cabin. The bike will ALWAYS start within 3 pulls and performs exceptionally well every time. I would recommend gas stabilizer if your engine will sit for extended periods but after a lot years, my bike still performs like new. Thanks for the continued positive feedback and I hope that others are enjoying their mini-bike like I have. It’s pretty cool to be #1 when searching Baja Doodle Bug on TH-cam. Thanks to all my followers!!

      Predator motors are a direct copy of the Honda GX engine design, that’s why they are so awesome.

    I got the same minibike for my son with the same lil gutless motor. I got the 212 hemi and put stage 3 mods. And did some sprocket changing. 52 mph according to GPS. I also took out the governor. Oh and put on shocked forks for a smoother ride. On the front only that is. Lol. But it keeps tbe front tire on the ground better like a strut s does for ur car. Nice vid bro. Plz be safe. But HAVE FUN DOING IT..!!

    That turned out SWEEEEEET. I have an oldschool DBug, red, & a newer Motovox MBX 10 ... all stock though. I don't feel the need for an engine swap because it IS a minibike afterall. The paint and other changes though, now that is something I may do to the old DBug. Great vid!

    this video really helped me build my bike it almost looks identical to urs the only problem im having is the clucth tearing my shoes and pants up i guess i will have to fabricate a cover at work but nice job on ur build can't wait to post my vid!

    • @zach_wolfe
      @zach_wolfe  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad to hear your project went well! It's way too hot in AZ to even wear pants, so I can't say I've ever had the issue of pants getting torn up by the clutch. Just to verify, you have the sprocket portion of the clutch facing toward the motor, right? I'm not sure the chain can line up correctly if you had it turned around but that might explain the issue you are having.
      For simple options, They make straps that attach to your pants and go under your shoes to keep your pants from getting caught for regular motorcycle riders. You could also get a Velcro strap to wrap around your ankle area to keep the pant legs secure.
      Drive safe and have fun!

    That's looking pretty sweet, but just a word of caution on your grip installation technique from a bicycle mechanic, use rubbing alcohol or hairspray instead of soapy water. If the grip gets wet again it can cause the dried soapy water to unstick and your grips will slide right off.

    Can you mount a 212cc directly to the doodlebug without the plate? What are the reasons for the plate?

    • @zach_wolfe
      @zach_wolfe  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pyro Nurse You do not need the mounting plate but it is highly recommended. The doodlebug comes with a very thin bottom plate attached to the frame and an additional thicker plate that is also installed for support. The holes on the thicker plate do not line up with the 212cc motor so it cannot be re-used. In addition to the stability that is greatly increased with the PMR mountain plate, it also provides bolt placement adjustments which helps to make aligning the sprockets much easier.

    • @zach_wolfe
      @zach_wolfe  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Muhammad87 Others have asked the same question. It is less complicated than it would seem. Filling the tank requires a longer flexible gas spout to avoid spilling excess gas on the engine. Thankfully you get a lot of riding before needing to fill the tank again.

    I live in arizona too, can you ride mini bikes around in your neighbor hood?

    • @zach_wolfe
      @zach_wolfe  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Snubz30 Motor vehicle laws apply to neighborhoods as well. That being said, if you ride around your neighborhood without being a nuisance to your neighbors, MOST people will not have an issue with it. In my experience, most people (usually kids) that have motor driven toys (mini-bikes or Go-Karts) drive way too fast, make too much noise and have no regard for neighbors. Me and my boys would ride this Doodle Bug for miles throughout our neighborhood on a regular basis without a single issue. Again, HOW you ride and how often you pass the same neighbor’s house will most likely determine if anyone has a problem with it.

      1digitalwatcher The small engine mounting plate that comes with the original engine does not work with the Predator engine upgrade. You’ll want to order the PMR mounting plate as listed in my description with parts. It adds stability and easy frame mounting for the new engine.

    looks like it would be hard to get to the gas lid to add gas. is it?

    • @zach_wolfe
      @zach_wolfe  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's really not bad. Using a gas can with a flexible spout makes it easier, but the gas cap is not difficult to get on & off.

      Oh ok thank you very much

      As long as it's a #35 chain I should be good right?

    • @zach_wolfe
      @zach_wolfe  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure it's a 140 link chain. It may not fit if it's smaller.

    did you need to drill holes through the bottom of the bike to get the bolt to go through the engine for the motor mounts???

    • @zach_wolfe
      @zach_wolfe  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. The mounting plate comes with instructions but you will need to drill holes.

    • @jacobkenyon9499
      @jacobkenyon9499 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zach Wolfe oh do you need the mount plate or can you do it without it?

    • @zach_wolfe
      @zach_wolfe  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jacob Kenyon You don't need the mounting plate but it makes aligning the sprockets very easy. The mounting plate allows for engine placement tweaking. If you mount the motor directly to the frame, there are no adjustments that can be made.

      @jacobkenyon9499 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ok so is it worth it to buy one??? like if i put a 212 would the chain always be poping becouse my doodle bug i have adjusted so would the chain just pop off without it? or would the clutch and sprocket not be aligned

    • @zach_wolfe
      @zach_wolfe  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jacob Kenyon For the $40 or so, the mounting plate is worth it. Provides engine stability and alignment benefits.

      The clutch does not come with the engine. You need to buy it separately.

    Where did you buy that frame

    • @zach_wolfe
      @zach_wolfe  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Der Kritiker: As mentioned in the video, the Doodle Bug was a gift from a friend. They can be purchased new from stores like Pep Boys. However, I recommend looking for a used one at garage sales or "for sale" sites online.
