Majority of their changes have increased the amount of time it takes to climb each season to keep you playing. It's the F2P model. They want you constantly involved with their game, because they make more money the more you're invested. And time = investment. Ever since Tencent bought Riot, their ethos has shifted dramatically to revolve around making as much money as they can without losing their player base. It's why they toe the line, but never fully cross it. They hide the things they do because it'd alienate their audience, but it's been a long time since I've seen the company care about their audience.
