    Hi guys great show thanks from Glasgow 😊

    I find it hard to argue with Johnny regarding the consistency of the application of the rules. A great little review/preview as always. Thank you.

      Perhaps because most of the fatalities have been European?

      @@johnoflaherty9105 I was actually talking about the Shark John but you make a good point. Aussie Tim from AtTheRaces said on Twitter that international runners in Australia had a fatality rate of over 6% at one point and they had to do something.

    Great show lads as always… Imho Jan Brueghel as favorite and well handicapped it is convenient for Aussies to have him scratched

    Jan Brueghel passes the Coolmore vets and fails the Aussie vets, Mother used to say back in the day, "Doctors differ and patients die" wise or what, they are all chancers if you ask me😂😂

    • @gurney2931
      @gurney2931 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely Bill. I don't want to come across as overly cynical but I wonder how many of the "greatest vets in the world at Ballydoyle" find it hard to spot problems with their potential stallions ?

    • @denisoconnell1895
      @denisoconnell1895 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @gurney2931 do you honestly think Ballydoyle would send a potential top class stallion to Australia if they thought there was anything wrong with him.. a lot more to be lost than gained

    • @gurney2931

      @@denisoconnell1895 I don't think for a second that Ballydoyle would send a potential top class stallion to Australia if they thought there was anything wrong with him Denis. I do think that on other occasions, the vets at Ballydoyle might find something wrong with a stallion prospect and that the problem may not be communicated outside of Ballydoyle.

    • @denisoconnell1895
      @denisoconnell1895 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @gurney2931 this is a one off race I was talking about as I thought that's what the original thread was about. Now if you think that Ballydoyle would deliberately keep a problem about a stallion to themselves that is a different thing. I don't believe they would as it could backfire spectacularly and i think it would still cost them more in the long run

    • @gurney2931
      @gurney2931 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@denisoconnell1895 We are allowed to talk about anything Denis. I'm not looking for an argument and I hear all you say. I have no evidence that Ballydoyle have hushed anything up but I'm sure there have been far bigger wrongdoings in sport and I don't think that it's a million to one shot that they have.

    It has too do with the Breaking Down of Horses from Europe that have Run in the Cup
    Few Incidents in Recent Times
    Most Australian Punters dont Care who Wins
    As Long as there Backing the Winner
    All Horses complete the Melbourne Cup Race Safely
    Maybe it has too do with Flemmington Racecourse a Harder Surface than European Horses Race On

    great show as per usual sounds to me like Aiden O brien is being picked on i never heard of that before that they can tell the horse is at high risk for injury either they see an injury or not which they didn't

      It’s all getting boring with Shark now. He was never gonna pack it up. He didn’t need to put the horses in the sale the same day acting like he was going to the wall then keeping all his best ones and supplementing one. The blokes used the media and social media the whole time acting like a kicked puppy without a penny when it’s not quite the case

      @@ianwhelan6983 possibly mate. I’m not that arsed about how successful he is but he pretends to be hard done by when he is definitely not whiter than white. He was never going anywhere, and all the noise he created probably didn’t help in the long run

    The whole purpose of the scans is to mitigate the risk of potentially catastrophic injury.
    Every race horse including locals are scanned prior to final field being accepted.
    The Cox Plate, Gold Trip was sensationally scratched just a couple of years ago and had been in Australia for many months with Ciaron Maher.
    International horses have 2 scans prior to leaving there country, they are videoed and recorded including the gate of the horse. These are then compared to the scan and video taken when in Australia to look for abnormalities.
    In this instance, Racing Victoria Vets obviously believed they found something.
    Australians embrace and love having the overseas horses come here for the Cup, we still have many in the field.
    Aiden O'Brien has a bitter taste in his mouth from years ago when he brought out Septimus and others tried to run the Cup like a UK race and they all dropped out ran poorly and he was subsequently fined for the tactics
