You explained more in 5 minutes than most youtube tutorials have tried to explain in 3 hours, this was a great tutorial. The community of the low attention span thanks you.
Thank you for making this video it’s simple well explained and to the point not like other videos explaining for hours how basically practice this, great video!!
Excellent, helpful video that is straight to the point. Your action seems to be very low (fret buzzing when you do fingerstyle). Can you outline your setup?
I usually set things up by feel and don't go by any particular measurements. Yes, my action is rather low though I try to find a balance between having clean sounds when I pick light and buzz for when I play aggressively as I like the way it sounds and feels. I'll try to get some measurements at some point.
If I need help on something I always look to see if you have a vid on it.... your very helpful, good at explaining and unlike most others, your straight to the point..... your slap tech is off the chart dude nice one 👍..
When I first started slapping and popping, I too used my middle finger. It felt more natural to do so rather than my index finger. Besides, it’s longer and closer to the string.
Thank you everyone for the comments. I will try and make another video explaining this process in a more comprehensive way as it seemed to have confused some people. Stay tuned!
Slapping shouldn't be painful. I am uessing that your action on your bass might be a bit too high and you might be hitting the string a bit too hard. Lower the action on your strings by either lowering the bridge height or straightening the neck a bit and see if that's any better.
Which Spector is that? I have an USA NS-4 (It's actually and NS-2 made during that time when Stuart couldn't use the logo so it's a rare SSD 1993 signed by Stuart. :) If yours is a Euro it sounds great.
what brand is that bass because I went to guitar center today to look at there basses and one of them was this Chinese piece of junk that looks exactly like that bass and I just want to know if they copied that look and design of your bas, its started with a J
I like that point on the mechanics behind skipping the index finger. I had the same inclination because i noticed my forearm muscles would get tired quicker when popping with the index. Its unnatural
Hello everyone! The long awaited part II is now available here: th-cam.com/video/Mwm8UJKrARU/w-d-xo.html
Superb
Can you play brbr deng?
@@MikeHunt.420 Only with my mouth :D

This was probably one of the best slap tutorials that I ever saw! Thanks!
@Duarte - Thank you!!
Thank you for the two camera angles, very helpful! Maybe more examples of the left hand part and it'd be complete.
Very clear, concise explanation for how to do this technique. Thanks !
That top is amazing, the depth and figure are so even and rich. A lot of other spalted tops seem to have bald spots. What a great chunk of lumber.
Man. I can learn a lot form your slap technique. Excellent playing.
I'm a hack by comparison to your skills :D I use a hammer, you use a scalpel LOL
Trailightband no way. You are being too kind! Lol. Glad we connected. Love your channel.
Good gods, that is a gorgeous bass.

Looks like petrified wood. It should have a dinosaur fossils coming out of it! Very cool!

Hey, thank you! I'm glad you found it helpful. Cheers!
Good video, thanks. I think of the right forearm motion like turning a door knob..
Concise tutorial. I truly appreciate it.
Glad you found this helpful!
When I first started slapping and popping, I too used my middle finger. It felt more natural to do so rather than my index finger. Besides, it’s longer and closer to the string.
this is a nice little tip. thanks man
Happy to help
Thank you for this tutorial. Even i should try practicing in a sea shore Resort 😊
Is eq setting important for slap?
It really depends on what sound you're going for.
Thank you so much!! Please do more videos on bass
It’s very interesting and helpful to start an exercise with your style. Thanks mate
Thank you :)
This is the good stuff, guru
Thanks!

GREAT video, thank you!
+TheX-666 Thanks!
What kind of bass are you using?
Thank you everyone for the comments. I will try and make another video explaining this process in a more comprehensive way as it seemed to have confused some people. Stay tuned!
Trailightband hey man how you equalize your bass, i mean how you put the treble The bass and the middles ?
Treb: 80% Bass: 85% I don't have mid controls. Pickup balance favours the J pickup by 5%.
Trailightband Thanks man!
Excelent class sr... Any news since last year?
Can i have a bass guitar like that?😊
Nice video! Also, that spalted top. Wow.
what a beautiful instrument!
Awesome sir❤
Thank you))
thanks for sharing, good info and sounds really cool
How hard you slam the E string with your thumb?
Very lightly.
Spalted Spector NS2 with Abalone inlay. Perfekt! Live your tone!
Nice bass
He does it so effortless
Getting there took a lot of effort :D
Nice job man! That's great technique!
A very Humble Gentlemen with a cool video..
Awesome video! What strings are you using?
+JT Fisch D'addario Nickel XL 45-105
How to get that tone ? Can u share with us ur set up (amp or bass pedal)
I plugged direct to the interface. The Spector NS2 Preamp itself is amazing so a lot of it comes from that and how I play.
great tutorial 😎
great video man, looking forward to trying this out!
muito bom obrigado pelas dicas.
How come I feel painful slapping with thumb, are you hitting very hard? I’m starting to develop thumb calluses now..is this normal?
Slapping shouldn't be painful. I am uessing that your action on your bass might be a bit too high and you might be hitting the string a bit too hard.
Lower the action on your strings by either lowering the bridge height or straightening the neck a bit and see if that's any better.
Your vide helped a lot-thank you!
Wonderful lesson! Right hand...

Which Spector is that? I have an USA NS-4 (It's actually and NS-2 made during that time when Stuart couldn't use the logo so it's a rare SSD 1993 signed by Stuart. :) If yours is a Euro it sounds great.
Very nice spalted maple.
Spector Euro LX - How long did it take you get this down? Ive been playing bass a long time but struggle to get this sounding correct.
Easy, simple no narcissism.
👍
03:11 Whats that? slap beast theory...... This is amazing
Thanks :) I've been meaning to do a lesson on how to do exactly that. I've got a lot of questions about it. I'll make that lesson video at some point.
Trying to get a new video explanation for that exact part. Hopefully soon... :)

FALA DEMAIS E O SITE NÃO DÁ TRADUÇÃO. MOSTRE MAIS A TÉCNICA
Jesus!!!! So cool. But it will take me time
Not everybody is born a teacher (as this video proves). But teaching can be easily learned by teaching beginners.
Spoken like a true troll
Sweet Spector!!!
Amazing!!
looks like your thumb is playing a larger role than you are giving it credit for.
I like that point on the mechanics behind skipping the index finger. I had the same inclination because i noticed my forearm muscles would get tired quicker when popping with the index. Its unnatural
Anothe way you can do it is by double thumbing the E or A string and popping the d or G string ONCE.
I've been procrastinating doing another video for this for too long... Hopefully soon! Thanks for the patience :)
