I was about to post the same thing, respect and kindness to our elder generation as shown here. The French are the same and put the UK and US to shame which is a real pity. The Kreo clan should visit them regularly to make sure they're ok, I certainly would and I'm sure all decent people would too.

What a sweetheart of a lady. Seeing her place is like being able to visit a living museum. Going back to a time before disaster stuck, and the villages were abandoned. Glad she's not completely alone there, and she's got friends that can check in on her.
If you setup the solar panels & batteries (etc.), perhaps a small modern flat panel TV would be a good idea (32" or less?), ie. so that the TV uses much less power. It would be hard to power an electric cooker though, heat from electricity is comparatively inefficient. As for a fridge, a small one might be ok, but again there would need to be a good battery setup to provide a large enough buffer because otherwise something turned on all the time would drain too much power overnight (though in the winter I expect one can often just store things outside). And what about the lower sunlight in winter? Other people in the comments suggested grab rails into the cellar, that's a good idea. And if you did have solar power, what about a light in the cellar? An LED light would use very little power.
You Should give Grandma some Solar Hot water panels.......she can then have a hot bath anytime she wants, and maybe put a hot water radiator next to her bed to keep her warm in the winter.

This lady is a real schoolbook definition of the phrase: "What does not kill you make you stronger" 86 year like her age is almost 2 year past the expected lifetime of a woman in Norway, and she is capabable of a self reliant lifestyle like no other. This is not common for anyone even in their best ages in these offensive snowflake times.. I have so much respect for who she is and how she lives.

They are in their 80's. The catastrophe happened in 1986, 35 years ago. These women were in their 50's when it all went down. They had farms and lives there and lost that all. They look in surprisingly good health. God Bless to all of them.

That's oven in her house is designed purposely to heat the whole house and put a bed on top of it.
