I like Lego but there are other things than Lego, CaDa, Sluban, Area-X, megablocks, all of these are amazing tooth. I personally like Cobi sets. They are amazing and accurate to the real military vehicles.
I agree but Lego minifigures these days are so much poorer than the knock offs these days. And choice is so much better. I get lego but i also get the "others"
Thank you for the Update about the Lego-Case in China, because Lego started already 2 years ago to shut down small shops in Europe, wich are just selling legit sets from the big brands like Mould King, Qman, and so on. Mostly it's just about few pieces in those sets, wich are still having Design protection in Europe, and so on. Btw. that's also the reason, why a german company has "reborn" the brand "Kiddicraft" (kiddicraft invented the bricks, before Lego copied them!), so they can create and sell legit sets with theyr own safe Minifugre, without getting in trouble with the "Big L". Greetings from Switzerland Buttermaker
Yes! I'm aware of Thorsten remaking the brand and visiting the factories. Good on him and I love the kiddicraft name to boot! hahah. It's far more dangerous on that side since it's too close to home..here in China though...anything goes. Save some chocolates for me!
Thanks for the thorough test of the cada figure. I'm really impressed they improved the neck joint and kept Lego compatibility at the same time! I just wish it also had articulated shoulder joints as well.
It's possible and has been done, but just not in mass bulk (unless it's the ones with boxes and manual). I've spoken to some on bricklink and they're all more than happy to purchase their manual and use your own bricks, but I'm sure there are some that are really against it.
For a KO set there is a plastics factory creating the bricks, a printing factory creating the printed instructions, a sticker factory, a packaging factory creating the boxes, a sorting factory sorting bricks into bags and putting bags into boxes. Then there is someone who pays those factories, puts the boxes into his storage and sells the finished product after production. And I think that one is the only easy target for Lego. So whenever I hear they shutdown a factory I do not really believe that news. Anyway I only care about the bricks as the instructions are online ( in my country) anyway. For me they can save money and cost by skipping printed instructions and when KO sets arrive here they are without box anyway ...
Some of them really do put in some good work too! The 1:10 911 RSR is one of the most popular KO set out there, often selling for as low as $25 USD including shipping, and I remember building one following the instruction book doing bag 1, bag 2, etc. It was only months later I see a thread about this set and I find out that the ACTUAL Lego set is NOT separated into different bags/stages! So if you bought the genuine set, you have to sort all 1600 pieces and dig through them to build the car, but if you bought the KNOCKOFF, those guys actually took the time to separate the build into stages/bags, and then make a custom instruction book with those stages! I found that particularly hilarious.
@@tren133 I really like when they go an extra mile, like the Volkswagen T1 clone in yellow or blue instead of red, or other cars with different colors. Or when they use pics from Lego ideas to create a full set from scratch.
@@GenoppteFliese Yes I have seen this too. Just recently built a KO SP3, but it is in yellow, not the original red, and came with a full color instruction book showing every step using the yellow bricks PLUS they changed many of the gears and axles from red to yellow or blue because the car is now yellow PLUS they fixed all the mistakes in the original Lego instructions PLUS they even added QR codes on key steps where it takes you to the Lego site with videos showing how that step is supposed to work. To THIS DAY the official Lego instruction for the SP3, even the "corrected" electronic version on the website, continues to have several errors, yet this knock off set not only reproduced the SP3 in a different (and IMO far far superior) color, but the bootleggers even made a comprehensive and mistake free instruction manual!!!
Yup you're right hence the sharing of brands with one another. I still haven't heard of any shutdown whatsoever. That's a good approach without the manuals and box to save on shipping...you'd be surprised how many want the box and are willing to pay for it. One thing is for sure, most boxes suck and break way too easy lol.
Finally we can see your interesting brick city. Mine has not changed since 2021 when i just placed 3 modulars next to each other and some road plates with cars. I have a friend who has 2 planes stacked on each other in the middle of their city!
Your city is, I think, the first one I see with sets from all major bricks brands, and you know what? It shows you are no longer limited to only one. There is now something for every taste and every purse. So the good old times are, in fact, now. Thanks for giving us a glimpse of Scottieland. Can we move there like in 'Downsizing'?
@@brickmeupscottie Haven't watched it, only caught glimpses of it while family was. So, I haven't missed much, have I? Cool, that's one hour and a half I'll have for something else.
Knock off bricks will resurface again. I've personally never bought lepin or any knock off brand. I only buy from cada, cobi, or mould king but I can see how the price difference is a huge reason to not buy lego. I also only buy lego used or when heavily discounted.
I'm on the same boat. I spent way too much on discontinued sets though...It's funny cause Lego HK was the ones who helped me link up with a thrid party and picked up the sets in the Lego store....
KO sets aren’t just for me. But I love the diversity in brick brands there are right now. Thanks for the update! It’s always fun to watch your videos. 👏
I still remember the 2019 Lepin video. I have not even heard anything about the knockoff sets news this year. I have quite a few replica sets from Lepin, Lele and newer stuff from King or unknown brands. I still think they will exist but most stuff you need to find online or ask sellers. I went to the Onelink mall in Guangzhou last year for the first time since before COVID and most of the brick sets are bigger branded ones or not copies.
like cAda i noticed they are a bit cheaper than Lego, Lego is ridiculous and i wish they would cut their prices because we are getting less bricks each set. Why should they be the main brand? People will always shop around and to slap so many ristrictions is going to push more customers to find alternatives.
Monopoly...over the years Lego has been pretty much the only one and no matter what others say or even what I say they (afol) go full on attack mode. The good news is more are accepting, partially because of OG ones being too much like you said, so the more the merrier!
Thanks a lot for answering my questions. It was really good hearing your response. BTW your city is a mess, but am awesome mess 😂 Next question for next time: Lego contacted you to remove some products?! WTF?! How did you manage that? And are they still messaging you?
I can answer that here. Yes, via email. It's happened 3 or 4 times since I've opened the store. They are really specific on sets sending us links. Ida removes them asap. It hasn't happened much since, maybe like once last year for a single product lol.
LEGO , in truth have a right to protect their i.p. , but they have gone after other companies too . Apple pulled a bit of that years ago. They got smacked in the head , entirely deserved. I am grateful that we do have many a company out there that does care for us military fans too . Thank you for having our back Brother.
Thank you for the reply , I am grateful that Scott goes out of his way to get word out about what is out there. I am a old Grunt , to me seeing aircraft , tanks , ships , etc are wonderful. If it is the world of our imagination , we ought to be able to build what we like indeed. You are right on . Have a blessed night.
This I agree with too! They do have a right. It's funny the new Mould King coaster I'm working has some new molds! They're literally splitting common pieces into two...so you have to pre build some with studs on them. Wild! Thanks always for you kind words. I should jump on FB, I'll get to your message soon homie!
I may have panic bought a set or six during the recent AE sale... oh well, I've got my own birthday and xmas presents sorted for the next few years I guess!
Hello Scotty. So I like both Lego and other brick brands. money isn’t a big problem here, the problem is that I like playing with brick toys and sometime there are themes that Lego wouldn’t want to make, like military and anime. and recently, ancient Chinese architecture like Xingbao, which unfortunately got discontinued, probably from the big L.
Why do you say Xingbao got discontinued? Or do you just mean their architecture series? I'm not into that style but as long as they weren't copying Lego sets I don't see how they could get in trouble.
@@MattChambers42 I was talking about the Chinese architecture lines. I don’t know if the company still producing sets or not, but it seems like the Chinese architecture line has been put into hiatus.

There are at least 30 or more brands these days, which is really really good. Cobi, I only have a few since they are manufactured in Poland.
Mega Construx is great. I really like their Halo sets, they’re just hard to get sometimes
