Incredible video BurnCrow! I used to have the same opinions as everyone had back then, but after watching this video, I started to warm up to them. Maybe someday I am gonna play these games open minded and see if my opinions have changed
Thanks a looot! And it's nothing, I wish you guys the best of luck with the Steam release. That's fair tho! xD I'm glad I was able to show my appreciation for both of these, they definitely deserve it.
Hello everyone, I am here to do what I always do when Castlevania 2 is mentioned, and recommend you play the Castlevania fangame The Lecarde Chronicles and its sequel. They are both very inspired by CV2 but have much more refined combat and gameplay.
Like I've said before, I have not played either of these games, I have the ability to, I just haven't gotten around to it. I'm personally a big Zelda fan, so I was gonna play Zelda 2 eventually, and I got the Castlevania collection, so I was also going to play CV2 eventually; And while yes, those playthroughs are going to come with a bit of apprehension, I'm still excited in a way to play them both.
Another black sheep with number 2 attached to it is final Fantasy 2 Which i personally like very much It Has One of most flexible Character Growth system in series Also start introduction to series stample like Chocobo ,Character called Cid ,Dragoon etc (note i didn't played orginal fc/nes ver)
So true! FF2 is quite an interesting sequel too. Interestingly, most of its combat mechanics would be the inspiration for the SAGA franchise. I played the FC version not long ago, and while many of its aspects are janky/broken, I think the plot and some of its gameplay is pretty revolutionary. Remakes are better tho!
I love both of these games. They’re both fantastic examples of atmosphere and of a move into world building. They both captured my imagination in the 80s. I thought AVGN was funny but I was sad to see his take become the standard view held in the Zeitgeist.
I feel the same way! AVGN had me rolling on the floor, but it's unfortunate indeed how his character's take on the game was the popular, serious opinion going forward. I'm happy to see many people going back and re-descovering these two, tho! Thanks for watching.
I wouldn’t say it was bad or the black sheep it was jus hard as shit I was exhausted after I beat it seen Gannon ass many times when you die is annoying hahahaha
I played these games back when they were fairly young in the 80s. I never liked Zelda 2 and still havent. Castlevania 2 on the other hand I enjoyed even if it was vague on where to be. Albeit I had help from nintendo power, the experience was good and also the soundtrack is awesome.
I can imagine Castlevania 2 made for a very fun experience back in the day. I think the visuals and sound still hold up very well nowadays. I also heard the magazine cover for the Nintendo Power issue starring CV2 was quite controversial back in the day! xD
@@burncrowsp Yeah so back in the day Nintendo Power was practically mandatory for some of these games because they'd have absolutely zero appropriate direction. Castlevania 2 was one of these specifically because of the wall kneeling part a few others. The villagers just didn't make any sense for the most part tbh.
Yeah, unfortunately the villagers' dialogue is the part of the game that got translated the worst. Many of the clues are not properly indicated as lies, and the rest loses its meaning. Thankfully, the clues you can find in books are mostly good, so it's still possible to beat this just by looking at in-game information.
@@burncrowsp One of the things this and many early NES games taught me a habit of that I eventually broke was to literally just spam check everything. Throw holy water everywhere, literally, step holywater, step. Down, step, down. And it didn't fail me to find everything. Old games you spend so much time just "wall humping"
I think Zelda 2 was known as the black sheep for a while. but in recent years it has a much better reputation. I'd say the black sheep of the Zelda games are the CDI titles.
Yeah, it's good to see how recent times have been kinder to Zelda 2, it used to get a ton of hate. The CDi games are probably the black sheep nowadays, indeed. Those are an absolute anomaly, the development story is quite interesting.
Alright! Been looking forward to this one!
Really enjoyed this one, great work!
Thanks a lot man! I'm happy you liked it :>

I'm happy to hear I was able to convince you to play these! Hope you enjoy your time with them, let me know about it!
Great video! And thanks for the shout out 🎉
But I still don't think Zelda 2 is a good one 😅
I have appreciation for Castlevania 2 tho

I shall do so at some point. Maybe I'll hop on VC and just enjoy my time with 'em. xD
@@burncrowsp I really enjoyed the video by the way! I didn't have much else to add besides saying that.
@@Lurdiak Thank youuu! Glad you had a nice time with it.

Oh, it was the perfect mockery after dying late into a dungeon. At the same time, you came back into that Palace with extra motivation! xD
