I used a USB cable from the dollar store. Worked fine for me.

Misinformation, this error is really the result of a problem with the mechanical Hard Drive refusing to reformat.
When the PS4-Pro reads a corrupted HDD that needs to have a painfully long disk scan using a Computer and adapter cable... these is a DIFFERENT error code given.
Even if you did use a different USB memory stick and this same error shows up again.... unless there's a way to access the Hard Drive... it's best to just buy a new one.
I actually got this message on an old laptop HDD while two other stock PS4 HDDs gave the same error but not this particular error.
Hence this video is just someone wasting our time.
There is a store here where they told me they change my internal disk by a new one (for $140). Will this fix it? My ps4 can't rebuild database or initialize and its been a long time since the ps4 started showing me that the internal disk was corrupted or damaged
My ps4 finishes initializing then it goes to the system software update and gets to 65% and gets stuck and says cannot finish update and says it will automatically restart and try again then it does the same thing

@@speedyjason8497 I just kept letting it restart and finally it went past 65% but when I try to play any game now it just crashes and it’s really slow so I think I might just get it checked or buy a ps4 or ps5

It sometimes fixes by itself but for me it just glitches and stops the whole PS4

Guys I figured once you following the basic rules etc don't use a Flash drive Over 4GB in size and it should work

My PS4 went into safe mode, I tried to install the update from the pen drive, it started loading and it reached 99%, it was like 10 minutes, And it appeared "unable to initialize (CE-34697-9)" do you know if it's the HD or is there another way to solve

Need help please - Steps 1-6 are greyed out on my console. I only have Step 7. Actually, every time I turn on the console, it always goes to Safe Mode and would ask me to reinstall the system software. It would read the USB but would give me the CE-33567-4 error during initialization. 😞

Yeah, trade it in for an Xbox. That's how you fix it. I had a PS4 for about the last year and it never did work right. I don't get why. I also have an Atari that's 43 years old and still works every single time.

I used a Q-tip with some alcohol and it and cleaned the USB port on the Ps4 and it finally passed the 99%! Lol thanks you!

100% fact! - This will only work for you if your hard drive is corrupted! If you have been getting fail after fail, then your HDD is gone and needs replacing. I got a spare SSD and formatted it to FAT32 and then installed in in the PS4 did the same process as about and it worked perfectly FIRST TIME! Your welcome...
I put a new SSD in mine when I got it. The 11.02 update bricked my console. The SSD is still good. It's the PS4 that's junk. Sony needs to test their updates before forcing them on the players

My controllers do not get me from that safe mode screen. If i boot up in regular mode i get a blue screen telling me to hook up my dual shock and to then press the PS button and nothing happens. It is stuck and no longer works.
Try a different cable or controller if possible
I've gotten that too. Controller is known working with a PSTV. Once I find a USB cord it likes it asks for something else.

Didn't work so I smashed the console. I've had that PS4 for about a year and have never been able to use it.
The *proper* solution is to simply not update the console. That's what bricked mine.
It's not the USB stick.
It's not the hard disk.
It's not the CMOS battery.
It's the PS4, which like the PS3 is a pile of sh!t. Microsoft learned a lesson with the 360, Sony took another 10 years to learn it.
My PS5, PSTV, and 2600 all run fine.
And before anyone says anything yes I have seen Atari consoles overheat during extended gaming sessions. The heatsink in that console is as big as the one that fell out of my PS4 on the third hit. It took ten minutes to cool down and I went right back to my game for the evening. It didn't desolder the CPU from excessive heat...and it DID survive having the CPU desoldered from the board.

If you are getting to the 99% part of the factory reset and getting cannot initialize, hit your PlayStation with a decent thump at 99%. It works. Trust.

I took the hdd out and cleaned the dust a little bit out and now it worked

This worked for me: take out your hard drive, turn on ps4, turn off ps4, replace your hard drive, start in safe mode and reinstall the playstation software. Hope it works for someone else too
