    "My mind is confused,
    that makes a virgin tender;
    I'm completely lost,
    my heart hurts hard.
    Have no peace day or night,
    always complain loudly,
    always sigh and cry,
    in a sad state of despair.
    Oh, that she would ask me,
    what the cause is
    why did I complain so much,
    I wanted to tell you freely,
    that she is the only one
    who sees me so wounded,
    can I soften her heart,
    I'll get well soon.
    She is richly decorated,
    with beautiful virtue without aim,
    polite as she is born,
    there are not many like them,
    for other virgins tender,
    she always leads the price,
    when I look at her, I think
    I am in paradise."

    I totally loved your Bach calligraphy videos. Amazingly well made and very intriguing to see how much closer one comes to Bach's intimate practice of score writing, or at least that is how it feels. Amazing.

      @@joostwitte5546 And to add to that, your calligraphy skills are also very good and it shows that you did a lot of study and practice to get to that point and that, combined with your musical insight, is hardly ever seen anymore nowadays. Very, very special (I was pointed to it by an American friend, who told me I would love it, and he was right). En dat kom je ook nog eens uit Harlingen ;) (ik ben opgegroeid in Friesland).

    I love your videos. I am sure that each of those who watch your videos appreciate your work a lot. It is so much different than the regular shallow stuff that we are dealing with on daily basis - thank you!

    At first I thought it would be better if you interspersed the narrative with examples of the music. Then you did! It was lovely to hear the music whilst watching you write it so beautifully. Btw, what sort of "pen" are you using?

    • @joostwitte5546
      @joostwitte5546  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The pen is a swan feather, the paper hemp and rags. Bach used different types of ink, I use black bister here. Similar materials and tools as in the originals. Glad you enjoyed it. For me it's a bit of trying out how to tell a story and convey the experience. In next videos I will make the music sound more., so thanks for the command!

      @@joostwitte5546 😂 It’s not a command! 😂 You’ve already found the “wow” formula. Will look forward to the next one. Thank you for the information about the materials you use - absolutely fascinating! Thanks again, Jo

      @@joostwitte5546 I would really like it if your videos opened with a short excerpt of the music you are discussing, then very short excerpts of specific things that are being analysed. For example, 'We walk hastily...' discussed at 3:37 (fortunately, I know the melody of 'Wir eilen' so well that I can hear it in my mind); and the two motifs in the St Matthew Passion discussed at 4:39. Then your wonderful videos would be even more wonderful!

      @@melissaraven3164 That's a good idea Melissa, in my new video about the ink that Bach uses I will start with a summary of the content, hopefully that will provide some guidance in the multitude of topics that are covered.
