I remember seeing the sign on then as well as the thought for todays! This would come on before cartoons during the weekdays! Never will forget the old 32. Great memories for me!
Growing up in Chicago, but born in the early 80s, I wasn't old enough to be up at the hour stations were still signing off for the night. Watching these is like a trip in a wayback machine, and I love it. Thanks for sharing this!
I was. I was born in 1967 and totally remember this, because I felt like a boss staying up late. Can you imagine having them something like this now? We're no flying for the inevitable apocalypse
During the "Thought for Today" back in WFLD's Field Communications era, does anyone know what's that song and who performed that piece? I tried Shazam, but nothing. Please help if you can? Thanks.
I think the VO for the Star Search 86 promo was done by the late Chuck Riley, with Beau Weaver doing the WFLD id tag. I think the use of Weaver's voice for announcements was probably prearranged before Fox took over. Dr. Don Rose's VO was still continued for a few years over WFLD even after Field liquidated all of its assets including its flagship.

How i miss the station sign-off, especially the sermonette at the end of the broadcast day.
I always loved the music that accompanied this prgram.
"Thought for Today"...?
I miss the close of the programming day.
These thoughts for the day make me feel old. Although in a a good nostalgic way.
3:21 WFLD-TV Sign off with voice-over by Jim Barton.
I remember this from when I was a little kid. I was around 8 or 9
Sure sounds like Beau Weaver doing the VO for the Star Search 86 promo. I didn’t realize he did stuff for WFLD pre-Fox.
I remember WFLD-TV FOX 32 in Chicago, Illinois!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In our troubled times we thought of today these days it helps you to relax and keep your faith in the lord to bring you inner peace

America the Beautiful played on a different note/key beginning in 1990 and was discontinued when the sign offs ended in summer 1993? I believe.

Before American Idol there was Star Search!
And before that, there was Ted Mack. And Arthur Godfrey. (Showing my age, although the clips should be here.)
What's the name of the song being played at the end? I know it's a theme song from a TV show, but I can't remember which one.
america the beautiful is the song you heard
where is the video with the MORMON PSA
i think that might have been from a utah-based station
