Special thanks to Mark Borowsky for making these available.
"These came from me, via Bob Hilbert. Mike Lipskin ( and Brooks Kerr ) also deserve an assist. Bob sent them to me unsolicited after I provided the copy of the alternate take of James P's " If Dreams Come True " from the John Hammond session of June 14, 1939, which Mike had given me , without commentary a few years before. I wrote up the story for
Michael Steinman Jazz Lives, as well. Jerry Valburn also got into the act, sending me several Merrit LPs, before eventually issuing the alternate on Merrit." - Mark Borowsky
I have uploaded all of these in separate videos either on their own or included in comparisons with later year recordings.

Had to hear again, just unbelievable..for the single note chord stride technique he was the best period..that's why he can take tempo like that. So sad he wasn't more known until late in his life. Guarneri said I sounded slot like him nice complement ,but knowones even close.its not just that his left hand is the best,it's his sense of time .and hand separation.to play like this . and not be more known is maddening.. he was really a gift.

I agree Barry. I have been listening to at least 40 of your recordings so far and you are a fantastic player, I can't believe I haven't heard your name until your comments. I am in awe of what you put down!! Simply marvelous.

So I assume these do not exist as published records or anything except for what, old lacquers?

Bob Hilbert provided me with a casette copy of the 8 Circle masters. Never had a chance to ask him what his source was.

@@MarkBorowsky Huh, I wonder how he got them, it's pretty crazy how these recordings float around and then people just find them xD
