A funny edit! I have watched quite a few Space Patrol episodes and although it seems similar to Fireball XL5 in some ways, parts of it are darker than any Anderson series apart from Captain Scarlet of course. There was a Space Patrol episode where Larry, Husky and Slim visit a planet of light where all living beings are light beams. They bring a light beam cat to Earth, but it has died by the time they get back. One of the later episodes had Venusian Professor Borra killed, nothing like this would happen in Fireball XL5!
Glad you enjoyed! I'd never thought about it but you're right, it was rather dark - how about the Colonel sending 40 space freighters loaded with atomic weapons to eliminate the Uranians? Seems a bit harsh! For it's day, and it's juvenile audience like me, it was pretty sophisticated. I also loved the simple electronic music, although it was nothing compared to the later efforts of Barry Gray who wrote and performed the XL5 theme and of course the beautiful and stirring Thunderbirds theme.
I always (and still do) love the robot control, door opens, robot walks past, door closes.
@@Beanick As a kid I thought the music was the noise the galasphere made when it was flying, like those spinning tops that made a noise as they spun.
