If you don't remove the carpets and underlay they'll literally never dry, I had to replace mine after a river crossing last year; they were still wet 4 months later
I wouldn’t recommend 80s as they’re expensive and won’t run most of the time. Get something mid to late 90s the most fun cars I’ve had are dirt cheap. Bare minimum runs and drives. Teaches you a lot and you don’t have to worry about breaking it since it’s junk in the first place.
