1966 - 1972 Historic Trans-AM Cars - Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion

- The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion presented by Michelin attracts some of the rarest cars and gives some 550 owners the chance to compete in their vintage race cars against cars from the same era and class. It’s the only place in the world where you can expect to see a $40 millon 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO square-off against a 1960 Chevrolet Corvette.
While the largest chunk of cars participating will be sports cars and prototypes from the 1960s and 1970s, there is tremendous variety. Get there early enough, and you can see cars from Pre-1940 battle it out on Laguna Seca’s famed corkscrew turn, sporting wooden wheels that flex and groan over bumps and through corners.

I just love this Era of racing Drag Racing,Trans Am Racing and Nascar Racing you don't get any better then the 60's to the early 70's
Here here. The Best
This is amazing! I was a Mark Donahue (I hope I spelled it right) fan when I was a kid and that brought me to Trans Am racing where I just got hooked on these cars. Over the years it may have become faster, but It doesn't get any better to watch than this era as I'm concerned. I'm glad to see that the current guardians of these race them hard while, at the same time, keeping them safe. Thank you guys for this. :)
that GTO looks soooo badass!
That front splitter on the javelin makes a huge difference
This is now my favorite TH-cam video.
Love them all but there's something about that red white and blue Javelin! Is it the underdog image? I just don't know but it brought a solid grin to my face looking at it leading... I'm a Camaro guy myself but ALL these cars were soooo cool! Love the silver GTO!
its so beautiful I could cry
Video/Audio is superb. Thanks!!
thanks for posting this motor trend, a great asset to the car enthusiast community.
Thanks for watching!
ɷɷ Heeyy Friendss I Have Founddd W0rikinggg Online Hacck visittttt : - t.co/PUo8ZzE9k0
Neighbours gotta love me up at midnight watching this.
I do like The sound of the engines roaring but I can't hear a thing these guys are saying when those things start to roar.
you don't need to
That is the point.
I agree, this one gets an enthusiastic a+++ for eye candy and the exact opposite grade for sound mixing.
Yeah, that's what happens when the audio mix is off. You should always be able to hear the commentators
Don Johnson no commentators just engines.

i like that grey ghost
such a mint field of cars, mustangs , mercurys, cameros, firebirds, challangers, amxs, all so mint
Yeah! AMC!
More of this!!!!
What an exciting race! This video is the best historic Trans AM race that I've watched. It's the closest to the original series. I was fortunate to attend a Trans AM race in 1969 at the age of 12 at Bryar Motorsports Park in Loudon N.H it was the most thrilling day of my life. I remember rooting for Parnelli Jones in his Boss 302 Mustang.
I love the old trans am cars. seems to me that the javelin always wins.
those V8's are so loud its hard to hear the announcers xD
I want to give it a thumbs up, but the Likes are at 420... SO I'm tempted to leave it as is. :) Great stuff though. This and late 80's touring cars were just the best forms of racing. Maybe throw in some rally too.
too late
car porn at its finest
To me it’s like the Javelin was playing with the others. Ran off and left em when it needed ti
@1:22 fucking great!!!
I see people getting into E -Car racing now, I can't believe they call that auto racing. They need to come here to see what a race car should be.
And the Javelin wins the race..ho hum....gotta love these guys. The rarest car out there, hardest to find parts for, wins the race. Bet your ass if one of the Mustangs would have won it would have been.."WOW, AND THE MUSTANG WINS". shouting from the roof top, confetti flying, parades.
gremmann If you have a look at the overall picture, more or less, the '71 Champions (AMC) won here, followed by the '70 Champions (Mustang) followed by the '69 winners (Camaro). There's nothing surprising here, the cars were developed into a faster and faster package with every year of the Trans Am, makes sense that an AMC won since they were the fastest ones back in the day when Trans Am came to a close.
I know that. My comment was more on the lack of enthusiasm by the announcers. If a Mustang or Camaro would have won, they would have popped open the champagne...so to speak.
gremmann As you said, the AMC Javelins were a cinderella story from Rambler to Trans- Am Champion. Of course I'm biased cause I had a 63 Rambler and then a 70 AMX. The announcers could have told a rich story on AMC Racing and Donohue/Penske - but they sucked.
Vintage racing is the best racing anymore. Got to love it.
That Javelin rumbles.
0:06 this might be the best sound in the history of mankind.
can't hear the commentators but oh well
seem to say alot about the mustangs, AMC all the way
came to this to celebrate my 21st birthday with my dad. one of the best weekends ever especially hearing old ferrari v12s accelerate out of the corkscrew
I watched some of these cars (#2 Javelin, grey Z28, #16 Boss, Black n' gold Mustang, Sunoco Camaro, Falcon) at Lime Rock Historics and they were Awesome! I went on the bridge and looked down as the cars passed under and I will never forget that.
The #13 Smokey Yunick Camaro that Cammie Eldelbrock is racing at this event was "lost" for decades. Nobody was sure what happened to it. It was found stuck in a snow bank back east somewhere and the Edelbrock folks brought it back to what you see here. Apparently it was in pretty tough shape at the time.

Awesome cars, great to see one of my favorite racecars the yellow Boss 302 :)
0:05-0:31 This is so hypnotic to watch
this type of racing is so good I didn't go ADD in the middle of the video
If this was how racing looked today, I'd watch and attend. This feels like racing.
wow, "the grey ghost"
You can actually hear the cars now! Can't hear the announcers, but I'll survive. :)
god i would love to stand right beside pit lane when these beasts fly past at full tilt
Cars just don't race like they used too.
That start was audio porn!
The reason I bought a 73 AMX
Did the 65 Falcon turn into a 66 year car?
I kept meaning to watch the other video but that 4 hour play time was too daunting. Thanks for the uploads.
Well done Motor Trend
No Mopars!! No problem. 😃. What about the comet? Much more fun than NASCAR. Doesn't touch rally b though.
AMC Really had a run in the late 60's, early 70's! Not just Trans-Am either. Almost bought a Rebel, but Uncle Sam came knocking!
Thanks for the upload, guys. In these trying times,it's nice to put viruses on the back burner. From across the pond, stay safe people.
Thats well over 113db's XD
If a race car isn't at least 130-140db at high revs your doing something wrong lol
xarnoldx10 The Tracks noise limit is meant to be 113db's
the noise limit at Laguna Seca is 92 db's
Which is it 113 or 92 haha
xarnoldx10 I'm confused now as well.
What a great race to watch. I have to say, this is the first time I've seen a Javelin lead in anything however.
Thanks SVRA and others for keeping this stuff alive .
Geese the v8s are so dam loud I can't even hear the commentary
Just how I like it.~
how its supposed to be
One of the commentators sounds like Howard Stern.
a little sad there was no coverage of the lime green challenger
of course this video would have the most views...
Just saw some of these at Watkins glen
Now this Is a Race! Thanks So Much!
who likes the drag week
me
Isn't it great
Awesome!
the old cars looked better..even tho im only 24 never experienced the 60/70's cars ;/ driving one
you can find them around. just gotta find an owner willing to part ways for a low price
Even more epic!
Awesome sounds
GO CHAD!!!!
Sixth
Pretty place and track..gotta take a car out there
Rj
I love Laguna Seca my favorite track :D
first.
I'm just gonna inform you that I am second.
this is more enjoyable then I thought it would be
Doesn’t sound as good as the four boxer but sounds good. More like an old Porsche than a Subaru but other sounds than Subaru sound good too.
That first car looks like crap zero class
