Ohhh. Good answer. I agree. Someone’s visual language, fully formed.

Citizen Kane by Orson Welles is my first choice. You're right MArtino is so underrated, to me there was 4 maestros (?) in italy during the 70's: Dario Argento, Lucio Fulci, Fernando di Leo and Sergio Martino. Cheers from italy!

Considering Dan O’Bannon was in the industry for years before his first full length directorial effort of Return of the Living Dead, that just blows my mind.

Fave first film from a director is Dark Star by John Carpenter.

The 70's were really big on Big Foot movies too. Even an episode of Big Foot you should check out on The Six Million Dollar Man. I love the black and white Creature from the Black Lagoon universal movies.

My favorite directorial debuts would be George Lucas’s THX 1138, Sam Raimi’s the Evil Dead, and John Glen’s for your eyes only

I'd have cheat and go to IMDB to answer that question but right off the top of my head would gave to Speilberg go ahead roll your eyes I know you're doing it. Have watched "The Haunting of Hill House," on Netflix? It's pretty scary.

Probably Reservoir Dogs - Tarantino, but for horror I would have to say Raimi's Evil Dead.
