About The Yogmaya Temple 👇
Situated in Mehrauli New Delhi, this Yogmaya temple is located near the Qutub Minar. This temple is known for the temple of Yogamaya, born as the sister of Shri Krishna associated with Hinduism. The construction of the Yogmaya temple is said to be associated with the Mahabharata period, which was done by the Pandavas after the end of the war. Then again in the beginning of the 19th century, this temple was also rebuilt.
A mythological story related to the Yogamaya temple is mentioned, the story of which is associated with the Mahabharata. This Yogmaya temple is considered to be the temple of Dwapara Yuga. Even before the time when Shri Krishna was born in Dwapar Yuga, Maa Durga was born in the form of Yogamaya.
Yogmaya took birth from Yashoda's womb and Shri Krishna took birth from Devaki's womb. But Vasudeva made Krishna lie near Yashoda and Yogmaya with Devaki on the Akashvani to kill Kansa. After that, when Kansa came to know that a girl child had been born from Devaki's womb, then he tried to kill that girl by slamming her on the ground, then Yogmaya took her out of Kansa's hand and reached the sky and there in her form. Aakar told Kansa that the one who killed you has taken birth on this earth. This temple is known for the same Yogamaya avatar.
