Hi Asir Anna, I too had the similar requirement and ended up in diesel automatic gtx line AT 2023 model, since I bought it on may I got discount for the older variant and am really happy about the purchase since it never gets heat in bumper to bumper adverse to dct and it gives a mileage of 17 over all in mixed and in highway alone I get 21 and only in traffic am getting 13, your review makes me to think proud about my purchase and get a feel that I had chosen the best. 😅

I own a Santafe crdi AT 4wd..wanted a small but fun to drive diesel AT..only contender apart from Hyundai/ Kia was Curvv diesel DCT which sounds n vibrate like tractor. Among seltos/ creta n sonet, I found the engine is most peppy in Sonet and went for it. Though I bought this as a 5 seated, 5 people are surprisingly welcome too
We have been using this car for the past two and half years. Niggle free vehicle. Very powerful on the highway and fuel efficient. We are moderately built four member family and the car is very comfortable and we don't feel any motion sickness. The vehicle has a slight body roll due to its high ground clearance. A good car for effortless highway and city drive 👍
Anna.. When we visited the KIA showroom for booking The Sonet, there was an issue in showroom,customer was full of rage and almost manhandled the Relationship Manager.. He had previously given his vehicle with choking complaint, once his vehicle stopped in middle of road.. as per the customer's claim, this has happened at least 4 times in 6 to 8 months.. on observing the conversation and service people gave explanation.. there is a DFR issue in Hyundai and KIA vehicles post BS6 stage 2 engines.. It was supposed to puff out the carbon deposit in a certain RPM, but these new gen engines are not doing for some unknown reason.. Hence, showroon teams are not prominently promoting dieael engines.. Finally, We booked XUV 3XO as my friend usage is extensive and needed a diesel engine.
Kia as always is arrogant on not recommending proper solution for the customer. Kia could have asked the customer what is his driving pattern. Diesels especially BS6 phase 2 needs to be driven atleast minimum 15 minutes to attain temperature so that the Dpf CLOGGING chances could be minimised.. One should also hit highways atleast 2 months once. Short drives like going to near by market where engine temperature could not be attained will not suit for bs6 phase 2.

I drive a bs6 phase 1 sonet ( around 30k kms now ) which has more punchy torque compared to the phase 2.. but when it comes to fuel economy its better to say sonet is a better highway car due to its suspension setup dynamic and the VGT turbo, where i get as he mentions 19-21 kmpl whereas in cities in normal conditions i get around 10-13 where in certain cases it has dropped to 8kmpl also.. overall its a better driver’s car and never consider buying it to occupy 5 pax cuz its can never seat 3 people comfortably in the back
