After going to NARS and working for an awful short line AOK, I just got hired at UP. Passed the physical and I’m 1 of 3 that passed the physical abilities test! If your heart rate goes too high they stop the test. The 5 minute hang 2/1 hand changing every minute took them out.
I applied to CSX and NS. Both had very similar hiring processes. Submit application, virtual assessment, video interview. The only difference for me was CSX did a physical and drug test before I was offered the job. And NS I guess all that gets done once you accept and go to training. I have a full beard. As long as it’s taken care of and a reasonable length it shouldn’t be an issue.
At union Pacific for "train crew", I pretty much applied, next day did some online test, next day had a pre recorded interview which I think I did terrible at, other than this I have literally not had an interview in over 10 years, next day offered the job lol I am supposed to start in may

I did extremely well in my bnsf interview and they rejected it most of the time they interview for a paycheck they dont even care what you say. So my point is the interview has nothing to do with hiring on unless your military you probably get on easy.
I was supposed to have a virtual video interview with Norfolk Southern last week but I never received an 'Interview Invitation' link because I was not sure which call platform they were using. I contacted their HR about it to see if we could resolve that issue and try for another time. A few days later, the recruiting responded and is currently trying to get a new interview set up.
