- Incredibly well built body. Great sound. And it won't hurt your wallet. Let's take a first look at the BaiFei Li V10 microphone and give it content-creation style demo at my desk.

Now, remember, I'm recording in a fully-treated booth, recording through an Apollo and my usual stack of plug ins. Your results may vary.
Ooohh, this is stunning on you. It's again very inoffensive and easy to listen to! Love the tone on your voice and I can't wait for us to hear it in the booth!
Jar! Anything I can do to sound inoffensive is a huge plus. And you? You sound huge on this mic. It’s crazy how good it is.
It's super crazy how great these affordable mics are getting. It's so great!
It really is great. The bang for your buck here is off the charts.
Based off your video I bought the c414. Can’t wait to receive it and try it.
Awesome! Please feel free to come back here and let me know what you think of it after you’ve had a chance to put it through its paces.
Wow! BaiFei Li keeps surprising me! Are we entering a new era of budget microphones that are suitable for professional work? I've checked their page and oh boy, they make a lot of microphones. There's probably some hidden gems in there. + you get free accessories so you can't refuse that for the price!
Great! Could you send their page link, please?

And… I’ve seen a sneak peek at the new catalog. There are even more, very intriguing BFL mics coming very soon.
Is the shockmount sturdy? I need a shockmount for my OC818 but the original is more than 100 USD and I need 2. Getting this shockmount seems like a good alternative if it's any good. Of course I don't want to damage my pricy mic if it fails.
The v10 shockmount is ok, not great. I’d totally trust it with a v10, but I don’t know if I’d long-term trust it with an OC818, to be honest. You may want to look at the Rycote Invision instead.
@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff I'll look into it, hanks for answering!
Sounds really good!
I know. Crazy, right?
Sounds great and looks nice! I ordered one of these for myself late last week and am eagerly anticipating its arrival. I didn't really need another budget LDC, but...I am always buying mics. It's a problem I have. Plus, I was already planning on buying a Hakan pop filter, so I look at it the opposite of how you phrased it: I'm buying a Hakan filter and getting a free mic with it!
Right? The mic is more affordable than an actual hakan.
Mark how would you contrast the V10 with: 1. BAIFEILI C-414 and 2. BAIFEILI V47? (Use case would be general purpose vocal and instrument recording in a beginner's home studio). I'm going to get one of them, just cause, to contrast with my L22. Also, on average for the above, shipping adds about 20% to the retail cost. The BAIFEILI Discover is at a super low price, so I'm leaving that one out.
I haven’t tried the V47 yet, and I hear it may even be the best of the bunch. The V10 has more up top and bottom whereas the 414 is very neutral, flat-ish with a very gentle rise in the highs.
@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff thanks, Mark! the V47 looks a lot like my L22!
You are so enthousiastic about all the models.. The c414 f.i. has an electret and it is not a real diafragma. Or I'm wrong. Which is the best the C414, the v5 or the V10 now. Which follows.
They're all decent. Nothing amazing, but considering the price point, all decent.
Hi there Mark. Another great video and already looking forward for the (more deteiled) next one about the V10. I really considered buy one since the price is less than ONE Hakan pop killer 🤣 (Hakan could consider a V10 free gift in the pop filter orders) . Already bought the Baifei Li C414 and awaiting the arrival. Let's consider the V10 again...
See ya!
Thank you! Yes, I am going to be digging deep into the V10 to identify the pros and cons, especially in the booth, but yeah man, for the price it’s insane value.
What do you think compare se4400 vs oc818 ?
I have reached out to Austrian Audio before to see about getting some mics for evaluation and never heard back. I don't think they are interested in courting the VO demographic.
Would you recommend this over the v5 for a drum overhead??
I don’t record music so I couldn’t say.
What EVER! What was your chain here? Do I need this one now? Do I?
V10 into Capi VP26 > Evo 4 > Twisted Wave > Hush App then rendered through the Techivation T-de esser, Brainworx SSL E, and TDR Nova GE.
@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff whew. Thanks!
i need to add that mic to my locker
It certainly won’t dent your wallet too badly. There is a whole world of BFL mics just waiting to be discovered.
Nice video! 😊 Any indication of self-noise?
Self noise isn't fantastic, but self noise is never an issue with Cvox or Hush.
Hi Mark! Thanks for all these videos you make! Found your channel recently and I love all these microphone and capsules analysis!
I know your audience is targeted to VO, but do you think these Baifei Li mics would perform well as drums/Tom's microphones? Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi Fran! You're very welcome. Because my specialty is only VO, I can only speculate. The BFL mics do have a fairly high sensitivity so they may not be right if you're really bashing the kit. I don't have any experience with them on instruments, BUT there are a couple of people over at the Discord server (link in the episode description) who do record music and could be of better help and deeper perspective in this regard, so feel free to stop by and chat with the Nation.
@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff thanks for your reply Mark, I really appreciate it! Never used discord, guess I will have to enter this new (to me) world!
@@frandesalvo2450 I never did before either until a member of Assassin Nation suggested we start one and it's been incredible. It's like a social network for mic and gear enthusiasts and there are fascinating conversations constantly going on, questions being asked and answered and everyone there is great. No jerks. And best of all, it's not centered around me, it's centered around everyone's passion for recording.

Can you do head to head with your baifeili c414
YEEEESSS!!!
Great idea. I’ll put that on the list of video ideas.
@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff thankyou
Eq and compression settings to make this sound great??
I should do a video about how to get this sound.
@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff you should! It would get a lot of newbies like me to appreciate audio engineering a lot more!
Great idea. Keep an eye out for it early next week. I'll probably shoot it over the weekend.
ended up taking a chance on the Baifeili v47 😎. lol. sucks that delivery takes so long....used to VK & american musical delivery time lol. Can't wait to test it....may make it my first review vid!🤞
That’s exciting news! I am looking forward to your thoughts on the v47.
@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff received it yesterday and got to run some test vocals for a couple hours last night…..I’m not sure if I’m supposed to like it as much as I do, based on the price I paid 😳.
Will be ordering the v10 and probably one of their dynamic mics asap. Once the bigger industry finds out how good these are, I don’t see how they don’t get bought out.
Woohoo! That’s awesome the v47 is going to be another BFL super find. Now I’m dying to get mine.
This is getting ridiculous man, a cheap mic that comes with all the accessories shouldn't sound anywhere near that good! How do you think it stacks up to the BaiFei Li C-414? To my ears it sounds like it captures a bit more bass than the Li C-414 but without any muddiness. Can't wait to hear it in the booth!!
I was going to ask good question. Great value
It definitely has more of a V shape compared to the 414, which makes them a good pairing for contrast. The 414 is very neutral.
@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff Thank you, that's very helpful, they also make some other more expensive mics and I wonder if they suffer from the law of diminishing returns? I wish I had the money to just demo the whole line of their mics
Take baifei Li and u87 Ai in booth
Oh yes! Also!!!
That for sure is coming.
No multi pattern version?
Not yet. Hey, you can barely get one decent sounding pattern from other companies at this price.
Yeah no tube either, what are they even doing ... Meh 😮
@@kr8s And there's no fusion reactor inside either. Pfft. I mean, come on Baifei Li.
Did you use eq or compressor ?
Normally, yes. On this there is no compression and a touch of 4.5k to bring it forward.
@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff
thank you for your reply looks like I'm going to buy this and make it work horse for voice over
@@winstonflood7731 I'll be taking it into the booth in a video coming soon if you want to see how it performs in there. I'll be honest that it's not quite as quiet as the OC818, but as you can hear, it's nothing that solid noise reduction like Hush can't fix.
I forgot that I also used Nova on to process the chain. I'll make a video showing what I did to the desk audio.
@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff
Thank you so much
that would be great 👍
I’m buying one..they unashamedly stole the design, but I’m buying one
Well the original design was probably stolen from a mid century electric razor, so it’s probably copacetic. Enjoy!
@@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff what an adorably thin rationalization. I’m still buying the mic, but come on.
Serious question, Mark. Do you feel that by buying and endorsing these Chinese counterfeit mics we are harming the audio industry in any way? You asked on another video, “how are these mics so good and so cheap?” They’re good and cheap because they don’t have to spend the cost of years of R and D. And they don’t follow any patent laws. So they take what they already know sounds good from Neumann, Sennheiser, AKG, and Telefunken, and make the same thing with cheaper labor and parts.
Great question. But understand the global MI business of instruments and pro audio gear sales were $18B in 2022, $19B in 2023 and projected to hit north of $25B by 2030. The industry is growing, not hurting.
That's very Austrian Audio 🧐
It’s like the Von Trappe family snuck out over the alps with one and took it to China and got rich making their version.
