Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is a hip hop artist. I think Drake sings more than Lauryn atp and we would include him in hip hop. Also OutKast is hip hop af. Also, 50 cent got robbed bc he should’ve won Album of the year ngl.
Agree that L Boogie and OutKast are hip hop artists. But the bigger question is whether those are rap ALBUMS. You know? Like… Fugees The Score and Blunted on Reality? Definitely. But Miseducation? Not as much. And Stankonia / Aquemini? For sure. Speakerboxx / The Love Below? Definitely not The Love Below. You know?
@@WoogTalksMusic Yeah I know what you mean. Get Rich or Die Tryin definitely shouldve won during its year and so Kendrick shouldve won for TPB and Damn. Even MMLP shouldve won bc that album was huge that year. I get the album of the year should have mass appeal in mind so im guessing thats why those albums won but still. I dont think there should be a rap or urban music genre since hip hop is widespread and mainstream now so hip hop albums should fall within regular pieces of work now. But im also afraid if they take out the rap/urban genre hip hop wont get any awards too bc itll be rated among pop artists which are usually favored. Its a shitty system regardless.
Yeah, trap is now as pop as anything. Like a Katy Perry featuring Migos. Agree on MMLP and GRODT. Definitely. Also, Kanye’s College Dropout and Usher’s Confessions lost one year to a posthumous Ray Charles album. No disrespect to the legend, but… beating Usher’s Confessions and Ye’s debut?? Lol
@@WoogTalksMusic Damn i didnt even know about the Usher album yeah thats crazy lol I still think Ye has been robbed so many times tbh and thats why i stopped watching the grammys tbh bc Ye was getting robbed a lot. He does have a lot of grammys tho but he definitely deserved Lauryn and Billie Eilish level awards for the first 10 years of his career.
Lauryn raps in Everything is Everything.
Thanks, couldn’t remember off the top of my head but re-listened after the video. My bad.
Very interesting thank you!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. But yeah, I see it as a gray area.
tpab not winning aoty was a crime
