I run Mid Softs on the front and 110/90 Sand on the rear (Haven't bothered to test the others).
Using the 250's with mid softs on the rear i'll be struggling to get to the top of 3rd gear in a section where I can be running 4th with sand tyres. Definitely feels like a better drive to me. I'll usually notice within half a lap if i've forgot to put sand tyres on because the bike just sounds like it's struggling more, especially in 3rd and going up hills/jump faces.

I think the mid softs give more traction while turning but in a straight the sand tires are faster

sand tyres are definitely better in sand, 250s get over everything quite easy except from the uphill triple on the sand tyres but you can still get over it, but mid soft it’s extremely hard because they drag more in the sand

A 250 is fine you just need to run the 120 sand tire. The drive from the sand tires is so much better than the mid soft 120. For me I'm almost 2 seconds or more quicker with the sand tires on a sand track.

Oh.. I thought the go-to was 90/120. But guess it's 80/120 eh. Hm, time to test. And the popular opinion is Honda is the best 250f followed by Yamaha? And the 450s Yamaha is thr best?

Dude, I've been suggesting it over and over, download the 435 hp RMZ. It literally has a sand paddle on it that really doesn't break traction.
