Another magical walk Dave. What wonderful scenery, including the bluebell woodland. This is nature as it intended to be.The wonderful church and the peace and tranquility that go with it, simply glorious. Whitsbury House was fabulous, and then your super narrative, on the Vice Admiral James Setton's, truly magnificent 17th century Brooks Heath House, was truly super history. That 16th century thatched roof of the Rose and Thistle pub was gorgeous. All these buildings certainly are super historic. Thanks Dave for the walk and your always excellent narrative, and your sole mate Logan.🦮
I'm planning to do this walk on Sunday while on holiday staying at Martin. It looks so pretty. Hopefully a nice roast at The Rose and Thistle afterwards! Thankyou for sharing such a wonderful walk with us.
Sir Eyre Coote also led the British regular troops at the Battle of Plassey, under Sir Robert Clive. There used to be a pub at Martin Drove End on the A354, (Salisbury to Blandford Forum) called The Coote Arms. As a youth, I got horribly drunk there on Bishop's Tipple on a few occasions.
Hello Dave, only just found your series with this video. What a brilliant channel, congrats on your superbly produced content. The reason I found this video is you have just walked past my childhood front door, my first primary school, and up New Road to the farm where I played as a kid. We moved to Bournemouth in 1982, whilst we gained the beaches, we lost the rural aspect of village life. I am going to watch more of your videos now I have found them. Keep up the good stuff, and stay fit! Thank you.
Hi Paul. Thank you for your kind comments. Rockbourne is certainly a lovely village & I imagine was a great place to grow up in. Hope you enjoy the future videos going forward.
Wonderful walk Dave & Logan! Simply "gorgeous!" 😁Sorry, I couldn't resist - but honestly I didn't even notice (maybe beacause it was!!!) Rockbourne is just that quintessential lovely English village!!!😍 Loved all the thatched cottages adorned in wisteria!💜 The church was amazing in just how many different centuries you could see hodgepodged together, yet still quite lovely. The countryside was absolutely stunning! So lush & green & I loved all the bluebells!💙 Thanks again for sharing the history of another amazing place!🤗
Btw...loved the look Logan gave you at the ens when you asked him about the Hare!😆 He is a very good dog that he didn't go running after it or the pheasants!!!🐶
Dave Ford hello! I'm a recent viewer of your excellent videos, and I must say they are wonderful. I like the style, you obviously research the subjects and that is conveyed in the narrative and your delivery of it. Nicely modulated voice, clear and concise. Marvellous, keep making them!
Isn't Rockbourne a beautiful village. Wonderful thatched cottages and a lovely flowing stream. As for the Bluebells. Well, one of my favourite spring flowers. They must prefer certain types of soil, as they don' grow everywhere, but where they do, it's a magnificent sight. The church looked interesting as well. At last you've told me where you live. I've been wondering, especially as you do a lot of your walks in Hampshire and the New Forest in particular.. I'm slowly working my way through your travels and enjoying them immensely.
Another great video, the chance meeting with the hare was lovely, and the bluebells were beautiful, will be adding this walk to the list for future. Just a thought but it would be helpful if you could put in your written intro the aporox miles/time for each walk. 😊
Ann. Thanks - it is a lovely walk to do. Good idea about the extra info within the written introduction - will do that in future. This walk was about 3 miles. Undulating but not a particularly difficult walk though.

A lovely little village and pretty thatched cottages. Thank you for taking us along Dave. Best wishes from Oz.
Thank you Jack.
Lovely Bluebells and cottages in Rockbourne. Another enjoyable watch
Thanks Mark. April / May is certainly the best time for that walk!
I've always loved Rockbourne. My family were all from Martin, so that's number 1, but Rockbourne comes a close second.....😊
It is a pretty area around there for sure.
Absolutely fantastic I used to live in Hampshire I now live in the north of Scotland
Thank you Christine. A few degrees cooler but much longer daylight hours in the Summer for you these days, I imagine! :)

The Rose & Thistle is a lovely pub.
Keep going, Squire - the videos are getting better all the time.
Thanks Richard. I have a good trainer!

Ah yes, I remember The Coote Arms. Not sure when it closed - now a private house.

Thanks. I think it is one of the prettiest villages that I have come across in my "video walk" series so far.

Thank you Peter for your kind comments. Welcome to the channel & thank you for watching.
Nice video. Very well produced. It looks like the hare was staring straight at you.
Thank you. Yes - I think the hare was as shocked as I was - it could only have been 20ft away!

Most of the walks on the channel have been either in the New Forest or the res of Hampshire but the plan is to do a lot more in Dorset during 2021.
@@DaveFord That will be interesting. I like Dorset. So many interesting places.
