This man almost lost his shxt when she said she was worried about him. Hearing her actually verbalize that he still means something to her was everything he wanted. I think he's been terrified that she won't let him back in, but this confirmed for him that he never really left her.

I think the death of Elliot s wife is gonna start to bring them closer ,and who knows maybe they will become partners in another sene of the word,if you know what i mean!!!i think that would be a great eay to keep the show fresh and more interesting, they should wined up TOGETHER THAT EOULD BE GREAT💓
The problem with the new show is that there are no likeable characters on it AT ALL. That IT woman is cocky and annoying; the other one is probably crooked; the boss has a permanent frown on her face...compare that to Olivia, Finn, etc.

If nothing else, keep in mind that we're also gonna get a deeper dive into personal Stabler, which I'm sure will be super revealing in terms of his secrets & everything going on with Olivia.
I think he's telling benson, crap is about the hit the fan, and i dont want to be responsible for getting you killed. So he tells her back off, in other words, he says, if I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die, but I don't want you to die trying to help me.
He loves her and it's one of the reasons why his marriage was falling apart before he left. If he and Kathy didn't have kids, he would have divorced ages ago. He never physically cheated on his wife and he refused to openly acknowledge he loved Liv for his own peace of mind and sanity, but I think deep down he knew he loved her and he felt rather guilty about it, having wife and kids. I think back in the days he felt, if not knew, that she would reciprocate his feelings even beyond friendship, now he's damn scared he lost her.
He did, when he chose to not call her and let her know that he was leaving or tell her anything; he lost her and that’s why Liv is so hesitant to acknowledge or reciprocate his love for her now… Deep down we know they both have had feelings for each other, and I think that now it’s just to awkward given the 10 yr gap.
He wouldn’t have divorced Kathy, he is a devoted catholic and even though it was evident he had feelings for Olivia, he wouldn’t have left his wife. He wanted to be a good guy, even if it meant longing for his partner all of his life.

Most police partners I know that become real close, their family becomes your family and vice versa, and let's face it, we never saw her invited to any of their holiday dinners or birthdays. This is where I liked cop shows like Third Watch and Homicide because it gives a good look into what cops are like when off the job, or even inbetween shifts.
Olivia will not back off because she cares too much about Elliot. Elliot wants Olivia to back off because he can't lose her too after his wife Kathy was just murdered. Elliot saying Liv means the world to him is basically a love declaration.

As far as I'm concerned, back in the day, Elliott and Liv were both crazy about each other - but BOTH of them were committed in not having Elliott break his marriage vows. I still remember the time Kathy was super- pregnant and Liv was driving her to a medical appointment when her car was broadsided, and Kathy had to be extracted from the car with the jaws of life. In the hospital, after the birth of the baby...when Elliott went to speak to Liv, he moved away from Kathy's room and swung Liv around in a never-to-be-forgotten passionate hug! And in the ensuing years since Elliott's departure - with all the romantic involvements Liv has had, she has never loved anyone as much as Elliott.
What outcome do you guys want? I know the obvious one is the outcome I desire. However, these two will have more dark moments before that, together and separate!

I don’t think you’re seeing the full picture. When I was younger I went through a series of very traumatic experiences. He feels guilty and he also feels the necessity to keep his loved ones at a distance to make sure they are safe. PTSD is the worst imaginable condition there is.
I feel like Elliot is trying to protect her. She “means the world to him” so why would he tell her what he’s getting involved in. He just lost his wife he can’t lose his world too.
he told her to back off to protect her , but i still feel like she’s gonna be involved in some way. i will say this i don’t remember elliot and olivia expressing their feelings for one another like this , i just hope they can continue to work on their reconciliation

YOU GUYS! this scene kinda made me tear up. :( omg. You can tell how much they both care for one another and they can read each other like nobody else. Stabler definitely has PTSD and Liv was (probably) the only person who can actually tell that he does and she told it straight to his face. At this point, they are the only two that get each other.
Uh, how bout detective goren? He'd certainly understand what elliot is going through. His mom died, his brother died, and his dad was a serial killer. Plus, at every opportunity the higher ups constantly said goren was unstable and was mentally ill. His partner stood up for him. Goren knows exactly what stabler is going through. With liv it's just a guess of what he's going through. I think goren and stabler would get along extremely well, because there's not a whole lot of difference in the two of them.

the way these two's energy pulls at my heart is so crazy! lol their chemistry and the way they capture the depth of their bond is incredible writing and acting
You can tell Elliot is going thru a dark place right now and no one is there to check in on the real him not even his son can really tell, Olivia is the only one who’s his anchor and can see right thru him without her checking in on him he can go overboard in many different ways
I didn't think things would actually be this compelling when Stabler came back. I thought it would be a cool return and reunion to see, but be disappointing overall. But man, the tension and drama here is insane, as is the chemistry between these two. It's such a fascinating back and forth. Both have things they've wanted to say for a decade, but it's never been the right time, and both have so much going on that distracts them from the priorities of the other. Liv wants to get back in, to be there for Stabler, but he's now in protective mode because he's lost so much and doesn't want to risk losing the last person that truly gives his life joy and meaning, especially since Liv has a kid to look after now. So much has changed between them, yet nothing has, and it'll be fascinating to see them both develop apart and then together over time.
They probably will because Elliot will want to know how Olivia knew that he has PTSD when others can’t catch it. She went through the same thing with William Lewis.

I’d like to think that even though he was gone he would have come back in a heartbeat when she was going through that but if we’ll find out in future episodes, also I think because Kathy and liv were good friends too she would have also encouraged him to go back
He's telling her how important she is to him and then telling her to back off because he's desperate to protect her. He's now in protective mode. She knows why he's doing it, but it still hurts because it's been 10 years without him. He knew that if he didn't tell her firmly to stay away from him or the case he's working on that she could be hurt. Weakley almost went after Eli but Elliot stopped it. Nobody in his life is safe right now and that's what he's aware of. I really want to see them discuss their feelings when things calm down. And to find out what was in that letter.
I never stopped wondering how things would’ve transpired if Stabler never left. Their partnership is everything. Olivia always wanted to be a mommy and Stabler gets to come back to her with Noah. 🥺 my heart..
April 9, 2021 - If Stabler would have never left, he and Olivia STILL would have just been friends. Why do you and 39 only others belief Elliot and Olivia would be a couple raising Noah together by now. Elliot was married with 5 children at the time and besides Elliot thought Olivia was a lesbian. Most of us have never felt a romantic vibe between them anyway. Olivia would be a better fit for Rafael Barba. If the show did make Olivia as lesbian as they thought about in the beginning, she would be with Alex Cabot. Even if, like you think Olivia has romantic feeling for Elliot, why should she trust that Elliot would remain in her and Noah's life. Elliot ran 10 years ago without telling Olivia. There is nothing stopping him from doing it again. Olivia would never want to go through that again or put Noah through it. Noah's baseball coach Peter Stone left and Noah was devastated

Well, for one thing, Olivia never would have grown to become Captain. She still would have been under his shadow, so I hate to say it, but his departure was needed so she could grow as a character.
I love this slow build back of their relationship. It’s rocky and messy and yet the love there is so permanent. No matter what they become, they will always be a part of each other.
Her expression when he tells her he needed to hear her say that she is worried about him. The inflection in his voice tells her he needed to hear that from her. ❤️💫✨
Really. Mariska and Chris are giving everything to us... I mean, we can really see they trying to build their bond again.. they expose more their feelings but it is like they're still carefull around each other. I can literally feel their feelings.... really they are perfect
You take that many years off away from one another and still have this unbelievable chemistry. It feels like their breaking character and talking to each in real life.
He’s still her people, now so more because of her rank. After everything. And she can still read him like a book. And he still loves her for it. It’s good writing and Excellent acting combined. They are playing out their reunion perfectly so far. I hope it stays rough and as realistic as this.
Yes -- it definitely is going to be a rough road to reconciliation. Benson and Stabler have to, when ready, discuss the disappointment, hurt feelings and all the other things left "unsaid". What I would like to see is the conversation being had over a big bottle of brown liquor (whiskey or cognac) with plenty of ice. I want to see screaming, shouting and the ugly-cry then apologies and long bear hugs. Just my fan wish. I want to see the whole thing play out.👍

I would love it to be an SVU special, just the two of them alone for the whole episode. It would be unrealistic for them not to have THE conversation. 20yrs without it ever happening is stretching it, 30 or 40yrs seems far fetched. Don't get me wrong I dont think it will be for a while and can't help feeling that once happiness is just within grasp it will be snatched away, so maybe not till one of the leads is ready to leave the show, but yeah, definitely the conversation, If not the romantic relationship itself.

Incredibly complex, these two are. It’s more than just feelings for one another... they are absolutely in sync. There’s not another person in the world who could have gotten him to admit to what she did in less than a minute. This was a beautiful scene. You can see and feel his conflict, her vulnerability at his presence... wow. Just great writing, and great storytelling here.

I thought this scene would rip my heart out of my chest! I think, I know that he loves her and there's so many reasons for Elliot to be scared of letting Olivia in. Losing her too, betrayal towards Kathy for loving her and the fact that Liv knows everything about him without either of them saying a word.

It really is a well played scene. Liv and El have that tad bit of awkwardness right now and it is believable. And yet there’s that familiarity and chemistry still between them where she just knows without him telling her everything. Her telling him she cares enough about him to address HIM and what she sees as concerning regarding his state of being matters. Of anyone else who have probably tried to discuss anything regarding that with him, Olivia’s feelings, concerns, and opinions STILL matter to him. She hit him in the heart and head with just that gesture. Love is a verb and a state of mind/being.
I don’t think there will be a lot more. I honestly doubt he will be working with her or him her n organized crime is so confusing. Carissi has a girlfriend n it’s not Amanda n she will hook up with the other detective.
Just the sheer honesty of him telling her how much he needed to hear her say that made me tear up. I’ve been there. After losing someone close to you and everyone knows about it, people either avoid you or for some reason say youre looking well. It always felt like that was more for their benefit than mine. It just makes you feel isolated like nobody knows how much pain you’re in, how you’re so not okay. So here, her just upfront telling him you look like hell, you’re spinning out and I’m really worried is honestly the best thing anyone could do for him. She let him know that she sees him, really sees him and what he’s going through. And she’s pretty much the only one, which is why he’s so desperate to keep her away from this situation. 💔
Elliott has loved live for a very long time. As another fan mentioned before, due to him being married and a faithful husband and father, Elliott did not know where "to place" that love for Olivia. I totally agree.
Now he can realize how much Olivia means to him and scared him so much! He is the love of olivia's life and olivia is the love of Eliot's life. After 30 years..
Romantically? He probably has some feelings for her, but his WIFE JUST DIED. I don't want them to be all love hearts and roses, not yet anyway. But not all love is romantic and with everything they've been through, how much they care, yes, they definitely love each other.
PTSD is insidious. It creeps up on you maybe from an incident many years before and it invariably takes someone close to you to notice it. No-one is immune but it can be treated as long as you acknowledge it

The way he actually does have ptsd and doesn’t even know yet, but Olivia knows him better than he does and is able to recognize the same symptoms she’d experienced as someone who has ptsd is something so tragically beautiful. She knows he’s suffering and even though he’s caused her so much pain, she needs to make sure he doesn’t feel alone and that he isn’t drowning. The honesty they now show each other is something entirely new in their relationship and I can’t wait to see more of how it translates into a new meaning for them both.
Right??? God I wish I had somebody to catch that for me back in the day. She knows how to respond too, she’s there but not pushing or being a pushover. And his response is very honest and appreciative. This scene was so tragically realistic in many ways and kinda broke my heart.

Great scene. Elliot was wondering if she still cared about him and hear that was really helpful and needed, but, he's in a dark place. He's crushed and making mistakes. But I like the drama. Im happy 10 years later they finally able to talk about how they about each other. They never was able to before for the sake of kathy. But everytime liv takes a deep breath you know its deep.
Tearing up this entire scene... bringing her coffee, telling her she’s a good mom (both throwbacks only the mom thing is now present-tense), the sheer honesty, her completely seeing through any walls he puts up, and him completely understanding and appreciating her but still trying to keep her far, far away from this situation. There’s a balance to be found between the good old days and reconciling with everything that’s happened and they did that perfectly here.
I don’t understand if Stabler really took it as a compliment or as an insult when she said she was worried about him. Because he told her to back off right after... it was super rough (even if it was to protect her).

There is no one else that had his back better than Benson, and no matter who's come and gone in the last decade, no one had Benson's back like he did. I hope the future is brighter!

No, Elliot needs to do whatever he wants to do. Women complain that “we aren’t your therapists!” when men try to unload their problems, then they still complain when men choose not to. Stop believing Elliot needs to open up to someone when he doesn’t want to. Stop telling men what they need to do, and start respecting what they choose to do.
I think the big take away is if Stabler would have told her what’s going on what would she do? The answer would be she would do everything she can to help . That would put her in danger , and most importantly take time away from the life she has already created post stabler . She has a kid and a whole squad to look after , when before all she did was look after him. When stabler asked about taking Noah to school everyday Liv said when she can which means her life is busy as it is . Telling her to back off was stablers way of saying you don’t have to look after me this time Liv.
I don't get attached to T.V. characters, but these two are the exception. I don't care what anyone says, Stabler and Benson belong together. The best thing NBC ever did was bring them together again!

Hear me out. I hate when shows put the lead female and male character together. It is a cliché that has been done to death. Yet, due to the chemistry between I would like to see them as a couple. I don't think the writers would do it but I really would like to see it.
He keeps coming at us with these killer quotes. First it was “if I had heard your voice...” and now it’s “you mean the world to me”. You can hear the weight of relief in voice just being able to say that. On a side note, I thought this episode was better than the previous one. We’re starting to get a feel of the other members of the task force. I’m liking this Wheatley character more. The way they are painting the task force and the way they’re telling the story from the bad guys perspective gives me Criminal Minds vibes. Very solid acting from Meloni.
This was pretty much my reaction when someone told me I had PTSD for the first time. I always thought that was for extreme trauma like war or having your spouse blown up, not what happened to me. If you’ve got the symptoms get help. It will amaze you how much your life will improve.
After that letter scene - this scene rings TOTALLY different. The way he is so surprised at her concern over him because he thinks he doesn't deserve her kindness or her time, because he thinks she has moved on already, that she's found the man of her dreams etc. That letter has changed the way view fans view any scene between Elliot and Olivia since his return. Eilene Chaiken is such an amazing amazing writer and her input into this show is truly appreciated amongst Bensler fans. I hope she stays on OC for as long as it runs.
I liked the whole “back off” part because it reminded me of the scene in leverage Parker: what did you do that was so bad? Elliot: don’t ask me that Parker...because if you ask me I’ll tell ya so please don’t ask me.

Most police partners I know that become real close, their family becomes your family and vice versa, and let's face it, we never saw her invited to any of their holiday dinners or birthdays. This is where I liked cop shows like Third Watch and Homicide because it gives a good look into what cops are like when off the job, or even inbetween shifts.

As far as I'm concerned, back in the day, Elliott and Liv were both crazy about each other - but BOTH of them were committed in not having Elliott break his marriage vows.
I still remember the time Kathy was super- pregnant and Liv was driving her to a medical appointment when her car was broadsided, and Kathy had to be extracted from the car with the jaws of life.
In the hospital, after the birth of the baby...when Elliott went to speak to Liv, he moved away from Kathy's room and swung Liv around in a never-to-be-forgotten passionate hug!
And in the ensuing years since Elliott's departure - with all the romantic involvements Liv has had, she has never loved anyone as much as Elliott.

YOU GUYS! this scene kinda made me tear up. :( omg. You can tell how much they both care for one another and they can read each other like nobody else. Stabler definitely has PTSD and Liv was (probably) the only person who can actually tell that he does and she told it straight to his face. At this point, they are the only two that get each other.

Uh, how bout detective goren? He'd certainly understand what elliot is going through. His mom died, his brother died, and his dad was a serial killer. Plus, at every opportunity the higher ups constantly said goren was unstable and was mentally ill. His partner stood up for him. Goren knows exactly what stabler is going through. With liv it's just a guess of what he's going through. I think goren and stabler would get along extremely well, because there's not a whole lot of difference in the two of them.

You can tell Elliot is going thru a dark place right now and no one is there to check in on the real him not even his son can really tell, Olivia is the only one who’s his anchor and can see right thru him without her checking in on him he can go overboard in many different ways
I didn't think things would actually be this compelling when Stabler came back. I thought it would be a cool return and reunion to see, but be disappointing overall. But man, the tension and drama here is insane, as is the chemistry between these two. It's such a fascinating back and forth. Both have things they've wanted to say for a decade, but it's never been the right time, and both have so much going on that distracts them from the priorities of the other. Liv wants to get back in, to be there for Stabler, but he's now in protective mode because he's lost so much and doesn't want to risk losing the last person that truly gives his life joy and meaning, especially since Liv has a kid to look after now. So much has changed between them, yet nothing has, and it'll be fascinating to see them both develop apart and then together over time.

He's telling her how important she is to him and then telling her to back off because he's desperate to protect her. He's now in protective mode. She knows why he's doing it, but it still hurts because it's been 10 years without him. He knew that if he didn't tell her firmly to stay away from him or the case he's working on that she could be hurt. Weakley almost went after Eli but Elliot stopped it. Nobody in his life is safe right now and that's what he's aware of. I really want to see them discuss their feelings when things calm down. And to find out what was in that letter.

April 9, 2021 - If Stabler would have never left, he and Olivia STILL would have just been friends. Why do you and 39 only others belief Elliot and Olivia would be a couple raising Noah together by now. Elliot was married with 5 children at the time and besides Elliot thought Olivia was a lesbian. Most of us have never felt a romantic vibe between them anyway. Olivia would be a better fit for Rafael Barba. If the show did make Olivia as lesbian as they thought about in the beginning, she would be with Alex Cabot.
Even if, like you think Olivia has romantic feeling for Elliot, why should she trust that Elliot would remain in her and Noah's life. Elliot ran 10 years ago without telling Olivia. There is nothing stopping him from doing it again. Olivia would never want to go through that again or put Noah through it. Noah's baseball coach Peter Stone left and Noah was devastated

Incredibly complex, these two are. It’s more than just feelings for one another... they are absolutely in sync. There’s not another person in the world who could have gotten him to admit to what she did in less than a minute. This was a beautiful scene. You can see and feel his conflict, her vulnerability at his presence... wow. Just great writing, and great storytelling here.

It really is a well played scene. Liv and El have that tad bit of awkwardness right now and it is believable. And yet there’s that familiarity and chemistry still between them where she just knows without him telling her everything. Her telling him she cares enough about him to address HIM and what she sees as concerning regarding his state of being matters. Of anyone else who have probably tried to discuss anything regarding that with him, Olivia’s feelings, concerns, and opinions STILL matter to him. She hit him in the heart and head with just that gesture. Love is a verb and a state of mind/being.
I don't know if anyone else could pull scenes like this off, like these two do!

Just the sheer honesty of him telling her how much he needed to hear her say that made me tear up. I’ve been there. After losing someone close to you and everyone knows about it, people either avoid you or for some reason say youre looking well. It always felt like that was more for their benefit than mine. It just makes you feel isolated like nobody knows how much pain you’re in, how you’re so not okay. So here, her just upfront telling him you look like hell, you’re spinning out and I’m really worried is honestly the best thing anyone could do for him. She let him know that she sees him, really sees him and what he’s going through. And she’s pretty much the only one, which is why he’s so desperate to keep her away from this situation. 💔

The way he actually does have ptsd and doesn’t even know yet, but Olivia knows him better than he does and is able to recognize the same symptoms she’d experienced as someone who has ptsd is something so tragically beautiful. She knows he’s suffering and even though he’s caused her so much pain, she needs to make sure he doesn’t feel alone and that he isn’t drowning. The honesty they now show each other is something entirely new in their relationship and I can’t wait to see more of how it translates into a new meaning for them both.
Right??? God I wish I had somebody to catch that for me back in the day. She knows how to respond too, she’s there but not pushing or being a pushover. And his response is very honest and appreciative. This scene was so tragically realistic in many ways and kinda broke my heart.

Im happy 10 years later they finally able to talk about how they about each other. They never was able to before for the sake of kathy. But everytime liv takes a deep breath you know its deep.
Tearing up this entire scene... bringing her coffee, telling her she’s a good mom (both throwbacks only the mom thing is now present-tense), the sheer honesty, her completely seeing through any walls he puts up, and him completely understanding and appreciating her but still trying to keep her far, far away from this situation. There’s a balance to be found between the good old days and reconciling with everything that’s happened and they did that perfectly here.
I don’t understand if Stabler really took it as a compliment or as an insult when she said she was worried about him. Because he told her to back off right after... it was super rough (even if it was to protect her).
God I love these two together! Stabler`s laugh is proof he has ptsd. I think he needs her to back off for now but let's be honest. There is no one else that had his back better than Benson, and no matter who's come and gone in the last decade, no one had Benson's back like he did. I hope the future is brighter!

I think the big take away is if Stabler would have told her what’s going on what would she do? The answer would be she would do everything she can to help . That would put her in danger , and most importantly take time away from the life she has already created post stabler . She has a kid and a whole squad to look after , when before all she did was look after him. When stabler asked about taking Noah to school everyday Liv said when she can which means her life is busy as it is . Telling her to back off was stablers way of saying you don’t have to look after me this time Liv.

I don't get attached to T.V. characters, but these two are the exception. I don't care what anyone says, Stabler and Benson belong together. The best thing NBC ever did was bring them together again!

Hear me out. I hate when shows put the lead female and male character together. It is a cliché that has been done to death. Yet, due to the chemistry between I would like to see them as a couple. I don't think the writers would do it but I really would like to see it.
They’re relationship is fine the way it is. Them being close friends that have been through a lot with one another is one of a kind!

He keeps coming at us with these killer quotes. First it was “if I had heard your voice...” and now it’s “you mean the world to me”. You can hear the weight of relief in voice just being able to say that.
On a side note, I thought this episode was better than the previous one. We’re starting to get a feel of the other members of the task force. I’m liking this Wheatley character more. The way they are painting the task force and the way they’re telling the story from the bad guys perspective gives me Criminal Minds vibes. Very solid acting from Meloni.

This was pretty much my reaction when someone told me I had PTSD for the first time. I always thought that was for extreme trauma like war or having your spouse blown up, not what happened to me. If you’ve got the symptoms get help. It will amaze you how much your life will improve.
When Stabler was having the nightmares, and he broke down, I needed a tissue as well.
After that letter scene - this scene rings TOTALLY different. The way he is so surprised at her concern over him because he thinks he doesn't deserve her kindness or her time, because he thinks she has moved on already, that she's found the man of her dreams etc. That letter has changed the way view fans view any scene between Elliot and Olivia since his return. Eilene Chaiken is such an amazing amazing writer and her input into this show is truly appreciated amongst Bensler fans. I hope she stays on OC for as long as it runs.
