Nice illustration Mike. A companion video would show how to use controls to reduce the amount of bandwidth needed to a remote Flex by adjusting in SmartSDR. You might already have one of these produced.
Nine days of up time might be a reason to restart a Windows PC prior to a session of radio operation. You never know when things have been leaking memory or not unloading from memory properly. Lastly I have seen systems run slowly when the disk was maxxed out in the Performance monitor but the CPU was not. Another thing that could happen although it's less likely when you have an SSD. 73

You might find this strange, but my main computer, a Win 10 PRO PC, the only time it gets rebooted is after an update requests it. I honestly go months without rebooting it. There really has to be some sort of issue to make me reboot it even though it only takes about 30 seconds for it to reboot.
On the PC I have running at my remote station, I have seen it go months without rebooting it. If I have a program with a memory leak, I will be able to see that in task manager, but I can't remember the last time I actually saw one. 10 years maybe.
What I have seen is bad hard drives. Physical spinning hard drives only have a 3 year life span before they can go into a constant state of self repair, and there is no way to tell if this is happening. I had this explained to me by a co-worker who worked in hard drive design and engineering. He was one smart person and I was lucky to be able to pick his brain. :)

@@michaelwalker718 the things that move are the most likely to break. Hard drives that spin, switches and connectors that get touched, and fans that spin.

Great vid. Have been looking at the same thing, and wondering if and or how to off load some of my apps to another machine. Is there a way to run milti computers and somehow network them to Flex? KK4BK

Absolutely! You can run SmartSDR on a totally different computer. You only need to run CAT and DAX on the computer with WSJT. They handle the connection to the radio.
