    This is a really nice lesson. You manage to break it down really effectively without getting wildly tedious as many lessons do with complex tunes. Nice teaching!

    This really helped me and I've played rock and country all my life but you taught this picking pattern nice and slow with the neck close up so I could see what you're doing, you did this just right, you are the Best teacher. Thanks Six String!

    Hey Chris, what strings do you use? I've tried 80/20s and silk and steels but I'd like to hear your recommendation

    How do you manage that palm-muting on just the bass so perfectly man!?!! It's the sole reason I still don't use a thumbpick, cause, it's either I'm not muting enough and the bass is too loud and overpowering, or I'm muting too much where the lead strings are being caught, or the bass is way too muted!! Is it just finding the perfect spot and then practice on top of practice to make it where your hand can actually stay in that perfect spot at all times, despite having to move so freakin' much in this song?!... Definitely the hardest part, hopefully I can get it at some point! It just doesn't sound as good without it! I've tried looking up videos but all I can find is bass muting on an actual bass guitar lol, that's not what I want! I want the Jerry Reed Tommy Emmanuel bass and lead at the same time but slightly muting the bass! Would love for your or anyone's guidance really, I'm stuck with no way to go but practice until it magically clicks, but who knows how long that will take... Anywho, thanks for reading, sorry if this is a bother and you've actually been asked this a million times, my brain is small.

      @@thegloobster I’ve seen a video on here where Tommy say’s the first ten years were the worst (getting used to using a thumb pick), for him. I’m a terrible guitarist as it is, but I’ve tried numerous times and just can’t get on with any thumb pick I’ve tried so far. I feel your pain.

    • @thegloobster
      @thegloobster ปีที่แล้ว

      @@parsnipfingers Dang, I actually love using a thumbpick now! The trick is if you have to choose one, go for muting the strings "too much" that's really what you need, once you gain that feel it can feel so good though
      I've only ever had this one thumbpick that came with my slide so I can't really say if I just got lucky or not and got a good one, but if I had to guess, they're all pretty equal! I forgot how much trouble I had with that lol, seeing this comment kinda brings it all back and makes me realize I REALLY have improved over the last year substantially! Hell yeah! Thanks for the comment man, I also love watching tommy interviews, man's work ethic is so constantly inspiring to me, DEDICATION bruh, sometimes it gives me a headache how much I CAN'T LET GO OF THINKING ABOUT THIS INSTRUMENT NOW IT CONTROLS ME FRICK BRUH, anywho, I'm rambling now, yeah, just mute those fuckers a lot, it's better to have them nearly completely muted, that's what I learned, palm muting is so based.
      Rock and Roll!
