On our cruise to Bermuda there was one night where they hosted a midnight dessert extravaganza. We all set our alarms for 11:45, got up, got dressed and headed there. I am telling you as far as your eye could see the room was just filled with desserts upon desserts upon more desserts. It was heaven.
OMG....your bloopers at the end were HILARIOUS!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂 Mark had me laughing OUT LOUD!!!! Your reviews of all the different places to eat were terrific!! 👍🏻 Thank you!! 💖🙏🏻
Lauren, you did an amazing job on showing this Alaska cruise. I've been on many cruises (including Alaska) and you showed a comprehensive look at what a cruise is like, especially for those who've never cruised before. I like that you did excursions on your own without booking thru the cruise, that shows the options and is also less expensive. These vendors are aware that passengers need to be on the ship before departure and will make sure you're back in time. I'm so glad you had amazing weather. For those with children, it would have been good to show the programs for kids of various ages and some of the various activities they do on the boat that will keep someone busy every minute of the day. I felt like I was on the cruise, I hope you had a relaxing time between all the filming.
Order a regular coffee and a hot chocolate(both basics included in the regular fair). Combine for an awesome "Cafe Mocha" (without or over ice). It's a good tip if you don't want to pay for Premium Coffee, but want something a bit different❤.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Been enjoying your videos (both new and old) for the past few months…found your channel while researching Alaska for the recent Alaskan Princess cruise I took last month (May 2023). I came for travel videos and stayed for the rest 🥰 Keep up the great content and thank you for sharing your life with us!
Been a few too many cruises. This one looks great. Upper northwest considered. Thank you! 🤗 Actually just want to be there for two to three months and explore. 🤗
Now I'm hungry!! The bloppers, lol. You had a great time, made the most of it and you nailed it!! Thanks again for your editing and filming! Totally enjoyed it all. Have a great Sunday.
Hello Lauren, as always what a great video. One of the things we always look forward when we go on a cruise is the food. Love this cruise video series. Thank you for sharing. You post such good videos. Can’t wait for the next one. Bloopers was really funny. Albert and Maria. 👍👍
Every step of your cruise has been amazing. a real eye opener to the process of enjoying Alaska on a cruise. Just love watching these amazing vlogs on this whole experience! So much beauty and fun choices on the ship and on land. Thank you for sharing this experience with us. Truly loving it! As for me and my husband I can see an Alaskan cruise in the future! You and Mark are truly the best spokes persons for the cruise line and for your Alaska!
I am new to your channel, and what a fabulous find!! This cruise video was amazing, and I did see the other videos too. Very interesting to get your take and suggestions on the food! Thanks for all that info! Can't wait to see some more of you and your family.
This was a great review. I've never been on a big ship cruise. It was cool to see it thru your eyes since you're newbies and answered the questions I had about included meals versus ones with extra costs and drink packets. Thanks for being so thorough.
Thank you so much for this ❤ I had it in my watch later so we could use it as a resource. Our Alaska bucket list is huge, but our budget is not and we live here! The only way we will get to see a good portion of our bucket list is going to be a cruise. We hope to book an early one Spring of 2024.
Good job!!! You guys enjoyed your show and loved the food tours too, loved your bloopers show it had me laughing and made my day. Keep up the good work.
If you prebook your dining time for every night, you get the same table and same servers at every meal in main restaurants . W E have been doing this for years. We never do the turn up as we like the same table etc.
This was very helpful we are researching for our 25th anniversary trip which we are actually doing for our 26th since we have a child graduating next year from college in Tulsa OK and this summer our youngest daughter is getting married
FYI…The main dinning room is opened for lunch while at sea. Closed on all port days. Another tip I’ve learned from experience & that is, on the room card that you hang outside, you can write something on the card that’s not there like poached eggs on toast. Also on the card where it asks you what time you want your order delivered rather than marking 7-7:30 am, for example, I just circled 7 am & that’s when my food arrived. Was this your 1st cruise on Princess?
I am hooked on your videos! New subscriber here ❤. Your videos are thorough yet concise - I love your presentation style and all the information that you share. I’ve booked excursions for my upcoming cruise to Alaska based on your recommendations and personal experience. Am binge watching your videos and can’t wait for more uploads! Thanks for the best travel videos ever ❤
I went on an Alaskan cruise 8 years ago and we made most of the same stops. Now, I want to go again! I have cruised several times with different lines. I agree, some of the food is really good and some is just ok. I try to remember they are trying to feed 3000 people, all day long. I am sure that isn't an easy task. Personally, I never get any of the extra charge food or go to the fancy restaurants. If you look at the menu it is usually the same dishes served in the main dining rooms. If you like a more intimate experience, it may be worth the extra charge. As far as gaining weight, my entire family retains fluid when we cruise. I usually gain 8-15 lbs of fluid but it is usually gone within 3 days of being home.
Good Afternoon Hamm Family ❤️ I'm still playing catch-up on the video front... a great way to relax 🙂 But... Wait... back it up... I did not hear tea mentioned amongst the beverage list dialogue... Houston, we have a problem 🤨 Aside from that heinous act... LoL... it is nice to know that food is included in the cruise amount. I do love all the dining options. Variety is key, yet it can be a wee bit overwhelming. The food entrees, desserts and treats all look delicious 😋 The idea of sharing a table with strangers is both inviting and terrifying... okay, perhaps that's my introvert personality over exaggerating the issue. That would be the time for my extrovert tendencies to take control 😁 The fruit and veggie animals looked both adorable and tasty 😊 It's nice they have common food items - burgers, tacos, etc - however, when on a special trip it is great to be able to indulge in, experiment with, appreciate and tempt your taste-buds by trying foods you wouldn't normally eat or don't eat too often, or are made differently or are an exotic cuisine. It's nice to spoil yourself and/or step out of your comfort zone. I do have to pass on the snails, but that prime rib... the carnivore in me is salivating 🥩 I'm not too sure how I feel about "dressing up" for dinner though. I'm all for comfy clothes, but I guess it wouldn't kill me... and if the food is good, it's perhaps worth it 🤔 I'm glad you enjoyed your dining experiences and yes, not having to clean up afterwards is a bonus 🧼 Mark is such a goof. He always makes me laugh 😂 Have a great evening. Take care. Yah's Blessings 🤗
I was on this cruise 5 th May on majestic princess and I was so disappointed as I heard great things for princess the deserts were mostly moose’s. Jelly’s or very basic cheesecake , very similar to our PO cruises here in Australia, we will not go late to dinner on our next cruise as we are doing Princess Royal here to New Zealand as I think most of our meals were served Luke warm and cold that probably had been sitting for a while 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
@@brilliantbutblue 🤣🤣🤣I just realised I spelt it wrong but in saying that the closest I got to a moose is a stuffed one and bought a stuffed toy moose for my grandson🤣🤣🇦🇺🇦🇺
I had relatives tell me their clothes were a little snug on them at the end of their cruise. There sure was plenty of delicious choices. If anyone walked away hungry it was their own fault! So, how did you like Halibut? The snail Escargo?
One question, nothing was mentioned about food allergies. Probably because it wasn’t an issue for you guys. Do you know if they offered any or many options for gluten free or other common allergies? Thanks so much. It’s been a joy to watch!
That's a great question. I'm sure these days, many of the common dietary requirements are accommodated gluten-free, dairy free l wonder if perhaps the buffet dishes have a sign that says if they are vegetarian, GF or dairy free 🤔
Howdy friends! I though the food was mostly pretty good on the ship. I agree that some was just okay. Also agree that most of the desserts were meh and not memorable. We had dinner one evening at The Catch by Rudi while we were still docked at Skagway and it was fantastic and totally worth the up charge. And we got a show with dinner as there were whales feeding right outside the windows. Having dinner with y'all was the best. I had to order the fish because we don't get fish that much in our part of Texas but, Mark's prime rib was probably a lot better. LOL It is fun to try things with no risk. All of my life I heard my dad talk about steak and kidney pie. They had it at the International Cafe one day so I tried it. Once was enough. Didn't finish it and felt no shame walking away from it. Can't wait for our next cruise.
Hello friend! We were on the same page with the food. I’m so glad you got the seafood restaurant and the whale show, your food picture looked amazing! Thanks for eating with us, it made it so much fun!
Your comment about eating really well if all you eat is the included food is totally correct *IF* you’re on a Princess ship. This does not apply when sailing with Royal Caribbean, IMHO. Their included food selection is disappointing at best, totally appalling at worst. Princess does included food right. When I was on the Discovery last year, they had Chateaubriand at the buffet. I’d never had that before, and was in HEAVEN. All of the included food on that cruise was off the chain. The Crown Grill steakhouse was absolute perfection 👌. I’ve sailed on RCL, NCL, and Princess, and Princess does all of their food the best. I’ll be doing a Holland America cruise this coming April, and am excited to see how they do things.
I bet doing a cruise with the kids would be such a different perspective and tons of fun. I did a cruise with one of my daughters and was shocked that I had put on 10 lbs but you guys were so active you look like you lost weight :-)
You both showed considerable restraint with your choices of food. It's great to see some of the meals you chose. The proteins impressed me they all looked fabulous. I'm a bit confused. The restaurant Symphony had prices listed on the bottom "Make the evening extra special" $19, $19, $29 was that one night only that you had to pay, or one course then if you want more you pay so not "all you can eat". I wouldn't bother paying for the add ons. it seemed like a huge variety without the extras. 👍
Every evening in the main dining room you could pay extra for those fancy items but it wasn’t necessary. There were too many other good choices that were included.
It does seem like a lot of food, options are great for a picky food person like me. I would love to know the total expense for the whole cruise, but I understand if thats too personal of a question.
We have been on many cruises & different liners...and I will say to me the desserts are always the same, they look nice but lack flavor & are not as sweet as what we americans are use to lol...of course you still want to try them all ! I know if we eat at a chinese buffet type place their desserts are always like a cruise line dessert as well. Great trip for you both & looks like you had fun !
I know people hate dealing with special diets. I am going on the Majestic in July and I am a celiac (no gluten). Did you happen to notice what if any options there are?
When my husband and I went on our honeymoon in 2000 we went on a cruise and the people we ate dinner with were always shocked if we ordered 2 of anything. But we were always like why not? When else can you do that?
When it was a group table it took quite a long time for everyone to be seated and order. Once orders were taken it didn’t seem too long before salads and soups came out. When we sat alone at a table it was much quicker but it was really fun to meet people at the group tables
Let me just say in a nice way. There was not a single item/meal that would entice me to go on a cruise. It never fails to amaze me why on earth anyone would ever go for pizza OR burgers when you can have that in the comfort of your own lounge .
the clothing g thing is probably my biggest turn off. my mom n auntie sherry n my cousin Michelle cruised ALOT my mom half way around the world n I believe my aunt has been everywhere before my cousins birth n during her childhood. not a fan of boats due to motion sickness. n not fan of flying. but I'm a simple dresser.ive nvr enjoyed dressing up. church dressing is fine. but I don't think I'd ever do a formal night I'm in to comfy attire nit sloppy but sundresses shirts n I only wear sandels or tennis. n only own 1 pair of each lol
Why do some Mormons drink coffee, tea, caffeinated sodas and alcohol and others don't? I noticed they always say the don't drink any of those, but I know Mormons who do. Just personal choice?
Coffee and tea from a tea leaf and alcohol are what we officially abstain from. It is a commandment from a prophet. Caffeinated sodas are personal choice. It’s always still their choice but we choose not to consume coffee, tea, and alcohol.
Cruises. A chance for people to engage in the same overly-indulgent, disordered, gluttonous eating habits they probably have at home. Bet the folks in the gym, who aren't having 4 breakfasts, 5 lunches, 3 dinners, and snacks in between all return home the exact same size.
The bloopers at the end 😆😅 Mark is so funny, thanks for including them it was a nice touch.

An entire room dedicated to desserts, pastries, and sweet treats, how do l book that room? I want to sleep in there 😋
We frequented that room quite often. Our favorite place on the ship was the through the Buffett, so we would just grab a cookie as we passed!

Good morning Lauren and Mark.
Hello Anna! Have a wonderful day.
When my husband and I went on our honeymoon in 2000 we went on a cruise and the people we ate dinner with were always shocked if we ordered 2 of anything. But we were always like why not? When else can you do that?
It’s so true! Might as well try things when you can!

The food looked ok not exciting.Too bad no fish or crab or oysters with a fish bar.
your opinion

the clothing g thing is probably my biggest turn off. my mom n auntie sherry n my cousin Michelle cruised ALOT my mom half way around the world n I believe my aunt has been everywhere before my cousins birth n during her childhood. not a fan of boats due to motion sickness. n not fan of flying. but I'm a simple dresser.ive nvr enjoyed dressing up. church dressing is fine. but I don't think I'd ever do a formal night I'm in to comfy attire nit sloppy but sundresses shirts n I only wear sandels or tennis. n only own 1 pair of each lol
I won’t eat it
Cruises. A chance for people to engage in the same overly-indulgent, disordered, gluttonous eating habits they probably have at home. Bet the folks in the gym, who aren't having 4 breakfasts, 5 lunches, 3 dinners, and snacks in between all return home the exact same size.
