they were and still are the funniest duo ever !!! everytime i watch em my sides ache !!!
*Stan Laurel Quote - "In January 1965, he underwent a series of X-rays for an infection on the roof of his mouth. He died on 23 February 1965, aged 74, in his apartment, four days following a heart attack. Minutes before his death, he told his Nurse that he would not mind going skiing, and she replied that she was not aware that he was a skier. "I'm not," said Laurel, "I'd rather be doing that than getting all these needles stuck in me!" A few minutes later he died quietly in his armchair." Bless* ❤
Great one Lee. My favourite Stan Laurel line from one of his movies..."I WAS SLEEPING, DREAMING I WAS AWAKE AND THEN I WOKE UP AND FOUND MYSELF ASLEEP!!" 😂😂 very very talented duo
Mister Macmaster! 'I'm not as dumb as you look' 😂😂fantastic line, bloody legendary Laurel and Hardy😊😊🎉
If that 'pie' appeared in a silent movie they'd have needed subtitles to tell the audience it was one.
Favourite Stan Laurel line, they go into a cafe to get a drink but only have enough for one. Ollie says will have to share it.
Stan picks up the drink and finishes the lot.
Ollie says ' what did you do that for?'
Stan says " my half was at the bottom".
Badoom tish.
It's ironic as we're all wishing you were around during the silent movies era too lol..
The golden age of movies so so funny, That's another fine mess you've got me into Stanley. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Fish & Chips or Pie FIGHT 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don't think you would know a decent meal if it crept up and bit you on the arse. The "Pie" lid looked like a piece of frozen puff pastry from Aldi.
Q. Where do you weigh pies?
A. Over the rainbow.
Altogether now...
"Somewhere over the rainbow, weigh a pie."
😂😂
LOL Dwayne, I feel like we are arch enemies, but at the same time I have some underlying respect. 🕶️
@TheMacMaster
Not arch enemies...frenemies!
😘
I suppose a lot of people already know this but Oliver Hardy never once said That's another fine mess you've gotten me into he always said That's another nice mess you've gotten me into in the laurel and hardy films. True fact. 👍
I went here with my son a few years back.
“Stan Laurel was the greatest of us all”…quote from Buster Keaton himself.
Great memories and the museum is excellent too.
Loved the video Mc.
Keep’em coming!!
🙏❤️.x
U would not think that Stan laurel would be coming up to 135 years old now this year if he had lived, Funny Great Duel Laurel and Hardy, episode where they both went to Oxford uni
"That’s another nice mess you’ve gotten me into."
Well, whatever it was (I've was told if it has a topping like puff, then its virtually always a pie), it looked good, and it tasted good to you - that's the ultimate result 🙂 the smiling elderly lady at the end - maybe she was thinking 'Didn't happen back then, people in public speaking to a stick...' 😂😂 great video 👍
i love watching you thinking of everyone even the the wining and complaners lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣its good to see they love to watch as well
I’d love to visit this place!! Food looked very fresh and tasty! Pie.. yes a pie lol looked packed with meat & veg - looked really good. You need to stay over next time and sample the beers Lee 🤩
Stewed meat and a catering buy in frozen pastry top you just get out the box and put in oven .
Hiya Lee, it was nice to see you in Nottingham yesterday afternoon, stay safe and keep up the good work, cheers, Dave
Thanks, nice to meet you too.
Lee the pie looked good even though the puff pastry looked more like a bread roll before you crunched it as ever great content watch your cholesterol it's fine taking the odd one for the team now and then but chips when there on the menu are not a great choice... keep well my friend...
Let's go
And it was Hardy who used to say to Stan, that's another fine mess you've got me into, then Stan would start getting upset and start pulling up his hair 😂😂
Chips looked great Lee - veg decent too. Really liked the look of the stew (for it was a stew not a pie!!) - Puff pastry topper could have done with a touch more browning perhaps.
I reckon I’ve got almost everything that Laurel & Hardy ever did, including the silent movies. Great duo.
At first sight I thought that was a bread roll sitting on top of a bowl of steak!
I used to work with a guy who could quote Laurel and Hardy all day long. Good times.
The food looked tidy, just think of the puff pastry as instead of a bun.
Nice.
I thought they had given you a cob on top of the dish of steak and ale stew. I half expected you to butter it and have a chip cob!! 😂
I’m sorry Lee but that isn’t a pie in my opinion. A pie is a pie when you can pick it up in one hand and bite into it making a mess on your clean shirt
That looked absolutely fabulous wow . Need to try that ale 🍺
It's a pot pie.
My ex mother and father in law use to own and run the Stan laurel pub in Ulverston Annie and Johnny, many many years ago
Not a pie mate. That’s a piece of really undercooked frozen puff pastry balanced on top of a microwaved dish of beef stew. Chips look ok though.
Evening hun I have been watching all off your video's time gone by . l love, watching them they make me smile . see you soon take love xxxxx❤
Lovely, food looked delicious, thank you for sharing!!
Love Laurel and Hardy
You can lead a horse to water but a pencil must be lead 🤣🤣🤣 That pie just reminded me of the old Fray Bentos...🥧🥧🥧
I'd class it as a pie. Doesn't need to be encrusted totally. Cottage, shepherd's and fish are all pies as well. That puff pastry was under done though. Looked slightly raw in the middle. Food itself looked banging!😋
I think the first song I sang a pre-school was "In the blue ridge mountains of virginia " as it really got me as a ? 4 year old with its slapstick comedy .... BTW there used to be a laurel and hardy themed pub in Yokefleet East Yorkshire but not sure it's still in business Great tribute to have a pub in Stan's memory hope to visit myself once i'm retired
That ending made me laugh 😆
Laurel and Hardy. Superb. Nothing to to touch it now. Most modern comedians are as funny as an STD, nowadays.
I agree that a pie is fully self contained and can be eaten with one hand using NO cutlery.
It did look really good, though. I'd give it a 9.5.😊.
Hello to the lovely gentleman Mr mac master, yes it's definitely a pie, puff lids on a steak and ale pie are the best ❤
Another good one Lee. I've been there, went to see Ken Dodd un veil the statue
I never knew that my fave as a child Stan Laurel was born in the Lakes!
Nice little tribute video, Lee. Pie, chips, and veg looked fab. 😊
Looks like oven chips, frozen veg and frozen puff pastry top to the meat filling.
Yes I remember and thanks for reminding me of how old l am now going to drink my sorrows away cheers
A pie is completely encased in pastry wether it's short crust or puff . The pasty looked a little on the anaemic side but it's down to individual preferences.🎉
It's a pot pie.
That was a decent bowl of lovely meat with a puffball top...... Real question is...... was it worth £15......??
Mate that meal was far too dry, that needed at least half a boat of gravy 😯
Now I’m going to have to go there, just to try the beer
Big laurel and hardy fan here ,last time I visited ulverston, the laurel and hardy museum was down a side street ,it was only very small museum and it was full of laurel and hardy nostalgia ,,must give that a pub a visit .looks nice ,,by the way the best laurel and hardy movie was in my opinion was ,The Music Box ,classic 🎥
When is a pie not a pie, Could it be when it’s all pie in the sky 🤷♂️
That’s another fine mess I’ve got myself into 🤦🏼♂️😆
🤣🤣👍
looks like bought in pastry undercooked seperate on baking tray then sat on top. overpriced tourist trap living off a legend
Great video Lee my Mrs would like that pie because she doesn’t like a lot of pasty and looked nice 👍👍
Well the meal looked good to me I think the best way to define it is by calling it a lazy man's pie my mother used to make pies like that sometimes there are advantages to it you can see exactly what filling your getting and their is no chance of getting a soggy bottom .
NOW YOU LOOK HERE, MY GOOD MAN
YOU HAD BETTER NOT FORGET THE MOST IMPORTANT DAY IN FEBRUARY
PANCAKE DAY
I’m sorry Lee that’s not a pie that’s a casserole to me a pie is in cased in pastry all round so you can hold it in you hand and take a big bite out of it.The pub looked amazing very nice country pub if it is a bed and breakfast what a place to stay.Loved it as usual Lee wonderful👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍
The pastry was not cooked enough, pants meal.
Your opinion
Hey hun I must say that meal looked fantastic . the beef looks good . chips were nice aswell . and for the price 18 50 was brilliant for what you got . it was lovely inside . my score is 9 . 9 xxx❤
I remember seeing Laurel and Hardy in a very funny 😊movie called Pack up your troubles many years ago
Meat looked great Lee , but I prefer some proper pastry 😊 vegetables looked good 👍 definitely worth a visit 🤩👍🥰
That jacket smells of 'I've given up' @ M&S fella.
Barbour. 👍🏼
Wow i loved these guys watching old movies with mum as a child.
They actually have have a pub thats fantastic ❤👏🏻😉👍🇦🇺
Mmmm. Looked tasty. The pastry could've done with a little bit more colour, but plenty of meat. And the chips looked ok too. 8/10 😀👍
Just as funny today and always will be.❤
Omg that pie was it a pie the meat looked lovely but the pastry looked a bit pale for me plus it was giving me indigestion just looking at it lol stay warm and safe 💯🇬🇧🌺Tracie’s vibes 😊
Youd get beat up calling that a pie round here
Ahhh the adventure of the modern day podcaster
That's why you have to review pubs in the city setting
Public transportation
The beer list puts american beer makers to shame
The pie topping was under cooked. It needed some glaze on the top Awful colour of the pastry.
not a pie as such , just pastry topped meat, looked a bit anaemic, needed a glaze and 5 more minutes
We grew up watching Laurel and Hardy back in the good old days! That's not a proper pie as we know but I'd of eaten the whole lot! 😋
Back to back LD vid's. Default like and comment and a personal note: thank you. I love your LD videos so much. I'm taking my wife and my two daughters there in March and cannot wait. If I run into you then I'm buying you a pint and shaking your hand haha. 👍
You're on. 🍺 Have a fantastic time. 🕶️
Yes, it’s a pie. I’m from the North East and live in the South West now, some of the best pies I have ever had only have a lid. Try the Coppa Dolla near Newton Abbot, superb pies.
Hotpot with a lid, nit a pie.
Not a Pie ,pastry should be affixed to dish even if it isnt on the bottom ,,thats stew and pastry im afraid
Enjoyable Vlog Lee, i always watched Stan and Laurel on TV i dought if i missed a show they gave me a great laugh each day. That was a meat pie to me, with nice chips and veges, 9/10 from me. Stan and Laurel British humor at its best 👍 Au
Glad you enjoyed it Lee
Pie has to have a pastry base
Hi Lee great video👍
Think Oliver Hardy used to say to
Stan Laurel
“Here is another nice mess you’ve gotten me into”
Food was nice in the pub give it 8/10.
Thought pastry was a bread roll, your right very flakey didn’t look like proper pie if I’m honest long as you enjoyed it👍
Another fine mess you've got me into Lee. It was HAL ROACH who was also the genius. He died 100 years old.
You wouldn’t eat a stew and say ‘I’ve just ate half a pie’
LEE! I COUNTED JUST TWELVE CHIPS ON YOUR PLATE!🙄
About 12 chips but 3 full potatoes worth! 😅
That food looks spot on
Hollywood legends. Still have my Super 8 Laurel and Hardy movies. Must visit this place.
Wow Macmaster that food looked really tasty and the town of Ulverston is really nice so thanks for a great video
Vegan food taste slot better these days then in the 1980's, had a plant based sausage roll, it's the same as the pork one. Got them in Audi.
Greggs do a decent vegan sausage roll too. Haven't tried Aldi's.
I'm going to audi's tomoro, glad u enjoyed it
If you're a big Stan Laurel fan you should visit Bishop Auckland mate. The house where he lived and the church he was christened in was just around the corner from where I grew up. And the local Wetherspoons is called the Stanley Jefferson (his real name). Some decent fish n chips and a very good curry house there too 👍
MY MATE JUSTSAW HAMSTER
DRIVING A WAYNEROVER MOUNTBATTEN
WITH A COFFIN ON THE ROOFRACK
AND EVERY TIME IT STOPPED ATA JUNCTION
THE COFFIN LID OPENED AND A LARGE CLOWN SAT UP
AND POINTED AT HIM
Second video in a row with real "home made" chips.
Always hated those pie dishes, too hot to handle!
The meal is what it is, proper, wholesome pub grub.
Very tasty.
. At first glance I thought that was a bread roll stuck on top. It did look like a Fray Bentos pie tbh So 8/10 for the food. However fantastic memorabillia of Laurel & Hardy. You must go back at some point so you can try the brekkie. Ty for sharing. X
Went to the Laurel and hardy museum in the 1990s and was lucky enough to meet the late Roy castle and it was an amazing museum well worth visiting if you are a fan. Pie looked great but the topping looked a bit strange for a pie.
That music Dance of The Cuckoos
At last, another fine meal that i would eat.
You can't beat a proper steak pie with chunky tender meat and home made chips.
Someday i will have to pay the place i was born in a visit, there is no place like home.
Don't care what you call it, It looked absolutely delicious.
They shouldn't be calling that a Pie, it looked dry also, more gravy required 🙄 🍺
I think 🤔 would have mixed the roll directly into the beef when it was in the small dish . Then I had a sort of a pie 🥧. But not a pie . 😊😊😊
I Bet some one said in the comments you got the same hair.
On a related note, check out the movie Stan & Ollie starring Steve Coogan and John C Reilly. Really good!
And absolutely Laurel and Hardy was just class 👍
A lot of people don't know what a pot pie is.
I've stayed at that pub around 25 years ago but it looks like it's been renovated since.Btw just been behind your car at the traffic lights near little Sainsbury's Ravenshead😊.
Hotpot with pastry plonked on top, but looked very tasty overall. Would be better if they put the pastry on the meat and it spent 15 minutes in a hot oven.
A pie is meat encased in cooked pastry not a steak casserole with a slice of frozen puff pastry on top. What you ate is a cop out non pie. 😊
Doesn’t matter as long as you enjoy the food! Really enjoy your videos Lee 😊
That’s another fine mess you got yourself into 😊
