@@denverdubois5835 Yes, I was going to say: He did enjoy some Hollywood success thanks to Mel Brooks. It's impossible to imagine Young Frankenstein without him. The great misfortune was that he passed away at a relatively early age, cut short his career.
Oh god, I nearly fell out of my chair laughing! I love Marty Feldman and John Cleese. I wish Marty were still around. Comedic genius, he was. This stuff may well be "before my time", but good comedy is funny forever.
This is hilarious. Never seen it before ! I actually met and talked to Marty Feldman for a few minutes after one of his performances in a dinner theater in L'Enfant Plaza in Washington D.C and his eyes were enough to unnerve you ! Pleasant man to talk to, extremely short, and then 2 months later I saw his picture in the Washington Post saying that he had died ! That was a terrible shock. That was a long time ago, but God Rest Your Soul Mr. Feldman.
I've watched this for the third time now in a month and I laugh just as hard every time! Marty Feldman was a side-splitting comedienne! Love John Cleese in this episode too. He was phenomenally funny!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
If you watch the beekeeper sketch with John Cleese and Rowan Atkinson you can see that this was the foundation for that sketch. Marty was an unsung hero of comedy. Truly funny looking and very clever, I love that he turned himself invisible in the middle and said: "I'm back"! Only Marty could have pulled that off so well.
Opening music is from The Paul Temple BBC Radio Series. Heard fairly regularly on BBC Radio 4 Extra. Also Marty Feldman's writing talents are heard on Round The Horn and that Cleese fellow can be heard on I'm Sorry, I'll read that again. Also regularly played on BBC 4XTRA.
And after all this time, I thought Monty Python came out of nowhere. Well for us in the U.S. it did...originally on PBS. We didn't quite know what to make of it except we knew we loved it. Well, I read it was actually in Dallas on KERA in 1974, but it was on PBS in Philadelphia where I and my friends first saw it. In fact, at school, I told friends as if I had discovered it first only to find out they had already seen the show too. Everybody was a fan.
Cleese says so in interviews, much later. He revealed many rejected sketches he wrote for this show were included in Flying Circus, later. I, myself, cannot make myself invisible but am happy to report these anecdotes appear in my new, upcoming “Covid- trivia Board Game”. I have had so much free time, I have even managed to study brain surgery and am expected to perform my first transplant later tonite, “‘around 8 o’Clock”, or so I am told.
I won't argue with u and i don't want to.I just heard it in a form of documentary for his life and work and an actor or cinema critic or someone can't remember that said that.I myselfe with my little knowledge think that from the moment that he started in some films with actors that formed monty,it's inevedable that some sort of inspiration from his playing had some effect on monty. That's all.Thank u for the info about the book and your time.
some of the most brilliant comedy ever, is when John Cleese gets irritated... and every minute Marty is on film is worth watching......"What hump???????"

Good God, Feldman and Cleese...that's a DREAM TEAM.
Indeed. Still appreciating.
Makes you wonder why he didn't continue into the Monty Python arena
Two absolute masters.
Haven’t seen Marty in film that wasn’t entertaining, or brilliant.
He is great, have you seen his movie The Last Remake of Beau Geste?

Marty Feldman was a comic genius.
Yes He was yellowbeard was his last movie 🍿
And Cleese isn't
Marty Feldman must never be forgotten. Bring back his BBC shows!
Barry Took and Marty Feldman wrote some of the best radio comedy ever.
Feldman’s timing is immaculate.
Marty Feldman was the hero of my childhood. In those days I used to call him simply "the man with big eyes".
Absolutely nothing like Marty and John. Together they were comic gold.
Oh god I'm freakin' dying right now!!!

This is absolutely wonderful! What an amazing piece of writing...
I'd recommend watching him in the original, 'Double Bill' by Johnny Speight, on which this sketch is based, it is incredible.

John Cleese and Marty Feldman, great combination!
One of my all time favorite sketches! Marty is always so great, that even Cleese has to stand back! Love that crazy little man! =D
"you can't se him" "you can if you make an appointment" brilliant stuff
Thanks for commenting - I think this sketch is the ultimate demonstration of Marty's genius!!
I found this through a TH-cam link on Feldman, but I was stunned to see such a young John Cleese! This is an incredible find!

very clever sketch, holds up beautifully almost 50 years later.
Absolutely
How can you ever better that pure brilliance

Directly from "The Goon Show". Spike Milligan.
John Cleese: the Human Pressure-Cooker.
My father played squash with him....it was fun to watch

Cleese as the straight man! Quite versatile.
He plays the straight man in the dead parrot sketch, amongst others.

I believe that Marty Feldman's eyes protruded the way they did was due to him being overly full of comedic talent.
Astute observation! The man had to much talent trapped inside his frame.
That and Grave's disease
Hyperthyroidism.
